About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Appalachia at its best. A mountain cabin re-created within the basement (first floor, ground level) of my home for your pleasure. Private entrance(s), covered deck/patio, open deck, great view, very private setting.

The location has an East-West orientation, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Great place to sit, relax, and enjoy your favorite beverage.

The cabin is fully self contained. It has its own kitchen, bath with shower (no tub), and a small living/dining area. One bedroom with a king size bed.

Centrally located between I-40 and I-26, on Busbee Mountain, the property borders the Biltmore Estate and blends in with the Blue Ridge Parkway at an elevation of 3,346 feet.

Well behaved pets are more than welcome!

About George Stanley

I am retired. I enjoy my two cats, Olly and Geo.

I retired from the Community College System and enjoy meeting people, thus the rental.

I enjoy traveling and finding neat places. I hope I have created one here.

George Stanley purchased this apartment in 2007

Why George Stanley chose Asheville Area

I had a half -finished basement when I purchased the home, which I separated from the house upstairs. I envisioned a downstairs cabin so others could enjoy the beautiful mountains as I do.

What makes this apartment unique

Living on a rural mountain and bordering the Biltmore Estate Property, there is an abundance of wildlife - turkey, deer, pheasants, bear, raccoons, generally all sorts of wildlife. I have pictures of bear in the yard and in close-by trees.

At an elevation of 3,346 feet, the cabin overlooks a huge valley. The valley is often filled with fog, creating a beautiful sunrise at eye-level.

This was the perfect place for our trip. It was so cozy and beautiful. We will be back sometime

We honestly cannot say enough great things about George's place. The views were incredible, the space was perfect, and George was a gracious and wonderful host. We wish we had a longer trip and more time to talk to him and explore his beautiful space some more!

We loved every minute of our vacation in this beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is exactly as it is presented here on VRBO. George was the perfect host and thought of everything we needed. We had some rainy days, and the fireplace made it warm and toasty. The view from the deck is amazing. The location is perfect for a visit. We were close to town, but the cabin has a very rural feel. The Blue Ridge Parkway is just around the corner and I 40 gave us great access to the Biltmore and Asheville. We enjoyed our week, but by far our favorite thing was hanging out at the cabin and enjoying the nature that surrounded us. I would give it more than a five if that was possible. We can't wait to return!!!

The cabin stay was absolutely great! The cabin was clean and the perfect size for 2 people plus my 2 dogs! George was super nice and helpful! It was more private than I expected it to be! The location is great and close to everything! I will be staying here again! Well worth the money!

Beautiful mountain top stay!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for only a couple nights at George's beautiful property and wished we were able to stay longer. The cabin is on the bottom floor of the main house and very private. George was a friendly and gracious host whom we enjoyed chatting with. Beautiful views from our deck of the sunrise and it was nice having coffee out there. George is developing the grounds with a sunset viewing area and we enjoyed sitting out there as well. The grounds must be beautiful once everything is in bloom. We toured the Asheville area and decided we need to comeback and spend more time in this beautiful spot. We will come back to stay here! The drive up the road is a bit steep but it is well worth it. Thank you for a great stay!

Great experience. Very affordable

  • 5 of 5

Great experience altogether. Cabin was nice. Spectacular view of the mountains. Mr. George was very hospitable. I would stay again, but I would recommend driving a 4wd vehicle. Weather was very cold and roads were slick.
