We are enjoying our life on the French Riviera; going to the markets each day to buy our groceries, stoping on the ramparts to discover the many colours of the sea and the mountains in the background, having in quick swim in the warm mediterranean water,...
We have travelled a lot, appreciate differences in cultures
This studio was our vacation place until we decided we liked the Riviera so much that we settled here.
Overall a lovely relaxing holiday, with the balcony as a bonus
This is a very clean and comfortable holiday apartment. The location is perfect. Pernille was helpful and accommodating when our arrival time was late and let us leave our bags late on the day of departure. Highly recommended
This was our first time to the French Riviera and we were glad to call this place home. Pernille and Francois were kind and helpful hosts.
The location is amazing! A short walk to the market, shops, and cafes in Old Antibes and also a short walk to picturesque beaches. As others mention in the comments the studio is on a busy street corner. We're city people so didn't mind the traffic and we're happy to just be so close to everything. We were there for 5 days, made coffee every morning, and cooked dinner there only once. If we were staying longer or planning to cook more often I might have wanted a more robust kitchen w a toaster or oven but for this trip the smaller fridge and oven top were just fine. The place is lovely, modern, and very well laid out.
We were so unhappy in the apartment, that we stayed only 3 nights instead of the payed 6 nights! The apartment is nice and very well situated, like in the description. The beds (sofa) were rather uncomfortable, but ok. We booked the apartment also because of the sat-TV - it didn't work!! the first night we didn't sleep at all! the apartment is on a very very noisy street and the whole night vehicles hurtled down! The second and third night we had the windows closed, the silence was better, but it was so hot like in the desert by day!
After these three terrible nights we left the apartment! Suffering is nothing for holidays!
We hadn't been to Antibes before, or even the south of France, so I was really hoping these reviews were accurate. Rest assured, they are. Francois met us at the apartment, about a 15 minute walk from the train station.
The apartment itself is exactly what you see in the pictures and not one square inch more! It is bright and clean. We found the linen situation a little baffling. There were lots of towels and blankets but we couldn't figure out how to make the sheets fit the couch-bed. We 'MacGyvered' a solution but it wasn't pretty.
Like many travel accommodations, the apartment has collected a variety of useful items. Here's a non-exhaustive list of what we found: A welcome manual with useful information about the rental and Antibes, two hair dryers, a beach umbrella, iron + board, small fan, large fan (we bought this, because it was bloody hot at night), assorted books in English, clothespins and drying rack, and a full complement of kitchen dishes and cookware. Not that you'd want to be cooking in there, it is really very hot. We found that we kept the blinds closed until nightfall, and slept with them open to maximize every breeze.
Pros: Very close to the beach and to the lovely Provencal market. We brought our boxer dog with us and we were able to take him on morning and evening walks quite easily. We could even take him to the beach and set up camp on one of the 'boardwalk' benches under the trees. He was very welcome in Antibes and always got a water dish from every eatery we went to. The apartment is about a 30 minute walk from the lively Juan-Les-Pins, and we went there twice for something a bit different.
Cons: As I mentioned, it is hot and has poor air circulation. The north-facing (?) windows make it difficult to catch a breeze. However we purchased a large fan that seemed to help, and hopefully the next visitors find it helpful too. Also this apartment is directly above a busy street and is very loud during the day; large trucks and loud motorcycles make it hard to hear yourself think. It does get somewhat quieter at night but I am a very light sleeper and even my standard earplugs were not enough to keep me asleep.
In all it was a very good space to set up a home base for our week's stay in Antibes. The owners are top notch and I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again; however this particular apartment is too hot and too loud for me.
This was a romantic surprise I planned for my other halfs birthday. The studio was very central to everything we wanted to do and see. We were near the beach, which was beautiful, the old town, very picturesque and the food market, which was fantastic.
When we returned from the beach in the evening, the sun was hitting the balcony, perfect for a glass of wine and some food.
We absolutely loved the bluetooth speaker. Not only could we sit and relax but we could listen to our own music or Radio 6 on the Iplayer radio on the phone. Awesome. So much so that we came home and bought one.
Both owners were lovely, even allowing us to stay right up until we were leaving for our flight. The studio was clean and well presented and we really enjoyed ourselves.
I would recommend this place to a friend and we'd return, although we'd contact them regarding their other apartment as we'd have kids in tow.
