Rick and Janis bought this shore home over twenty years ago, and have lovingly renovated and expanded it. It was spared during Hurricane Sandy because we had raised the house six feet a few years earlier. Our children are in college now now, and have grown up swimming, surfing, sailing, and crabbing on the island each summer. Most of our renters come back year after year, and we are happy to share our home as we watch these families grow. Rick is a cancer researcher, and Janis just retired as an IT consultant. Our permanent home is in Hopewell, NJ, near Princeton.
Janis Metz purchased this house in 1993
This house offers a great location, just a one minute walk to the beach. It's on a friendly, quiet street where children often play wiffleball, draw hopscotch boards, and set up cornhole games. The older kids can safely walk or bike to the Custard Hut, and the adults can stroll to Daddy-O's for happy hour. Four blocks away is St. Francis RC Church and Community Center, which offers services, meetings, and many activities. At dusk, a short walk to the bayside offers spectacular sunset views. The beach is groomed daily, with a lifeguard on duty in prime season. Fishermen have plenty of room apart from swimmers, and the designated surfing beach is three blocks north. In ten minutes' drive, you can be over the Causeway and on the mainland, if you need a Target, Kohls, ShopRite, or WalMart. Ten minutes south in Beach Haven you'll find rides and amusements, and many restaurants with bands and entertainment nightly. Atlantic City is forty miles south.
This home has an open living room/kitchen area for family gatherings. The front deck faces south and gets full sun, while the covered octagonal side deck is a great spot for outdoor dinners. The house sleeps eight (please, no more than that) and has a full bath off the hallway and a half bath off the master. Other amenities include central air conditioning, central heat, washer and dryer, offstreet parking for four cars, a private outside hot and cold shower, two televisions with DVD players, wireless Internet, gas grill, deck furniture, and use of six beach badges. The kitchen has a gas range, dishwasher, large refrigerator, microwave, blender, coffee maker, spices and staples, and all dishes/utensils/pans. You will bring sheets, towels, and beach gear, or we can provide them by prior arrangement for a fee.
This rental is on the top of my list! This home provided everything we needed for a perfect week at the shore. Well equipped kitchen. Two nice clean bathrooms. Roomy bedrooms. Comfortable living spaces. Love the decks! Walking to the beach was so easy... I had no concerns about traffic since we were so close and only had to cross the quiet beach road. Great outside spaces too. Nice outdoor showers, clothes line, plenty of parking for two trucks. Foot rinse hose at front walk <<< I loved that!
Owners are friendly and attentive! Multiple text messages about travel/traffic plus several contacts about how things were going. They immediately tended to our needs while we were there.
Brant Beach is one of our favorites. Very close to stores, bike rentals, restaurants, and activities like mini-golf and Bay Village Pier.
Thanks for a great week!
We just got back from a most enjoyable week staying at this house. It was clean and well kept and stocked nicely with all you would expect from a rental and then some. We used the multiple decks all the time and especially enjoyed sitting at the table in the covered part. There was always a breeze and you can hear the waves. Having the washer and dryer right in the unit was very convenient. This unit also has its own outdoor shower which my family always prefers while at the beach. The walk to the beach was very short, just a few houses away. The owner Janis was very responsive to any of my questions. We would stay here again and certainly recommend to others.
We really enjoyed our first family vacation in LBI! The house was clean and comfortable and well stocked with all the things our family needed for a week at the beach. On top of the essentials, there were beach chairs, sand toys, and even games, books, and movies in the living room for a rainy day. The openness of the kitchen and living room provided a nice space to hang out when recovering from the sun. The covered deck area was perfect for eating dinner in the ocean breeze, and we loved having our morning coffee outside in the sea air. We definitely enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again!
We have vacationed on LBI/Brant Beach for 4 years now with our 3 small kids during off season (Sept) but had an opportunity to be here during peek and selected a different property to rent...we are thrilled that we changed things up! The owners are welcoming, helpful and have thought of everything. Truly, bring your suit, flip flops and sunscreen and go! Though we have never stayed in a duplex before (usually a SFH on Brant Beach) the top floor unit was extremely spacious, high vaulted ceilings in the main room with an abundance of windows which created an airy & light feel in the unit. There is a wonderful breeze because you are on the second floor and close to the bay and the 3 from ocean (plus ceiling fans in all rooms) that the central A/C which the house has, was used just for sleeping. One of the wonderful aspects of this property which we enjoyed daily was the outdoor cover veranda and deck-Our favorite spot! It was amazing to sit outside for meals,, play games or just to hang out. The additional 1/2 bath was perfect for our family of 5 since we usually showered outside in the well kept/private outdoor showers after a day at the beach. The washer and dryer made our journey back to Chicago wonderful with out loads of dirty laundry pending. The owner supplied a very nice beach cart with chairs and an umbrella (this was NOT the "left over 1970" beach stuff either) it made our days on the shore effortless. We love Brant Beach because its quiet & calm, it has THE BEST BEACHES, very family friendly and the location is ideal for the north and south of the island.
We are thrilled to have selected this property to stay during our annual vacation and look forward to coming back next year for our trip to this house.. you will not be disappointed! Thank you so much Metz Family!
The property was in excellent condition. It was clean, comfortable and well stocked. We will be returning for another wonderful stay.
The unit is great. Spacious, clean, and literally just a few houses away from the beach. You can walk to everything- restaurants, shops, etc. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
