It is a trendy district where Parisians live and work while taking advantage of 30 green spaces open to the public.
If you like walking, you can stroll along the Canal Saint Martin, famous thanks to the film (Marcel Carné, Hotel du Nord).
The apartment is situated between place de la Bastille, place de la Republique, the Père Lachaise Cemetery and not far from the Marais.

We had a great weekend in Paris based in this property. It is conveniently located, close to a couple of metro stations. A good boulangerie is a two minute walk away, and there are supermarkets and restaurants in this lively 'quartier'. The apartment was clean and well equipped. The owner facilitated an early arrival and a late departure, which was a real help. Access was easy and well-organised. The only downside was that we couldn't get wifi. Would recommend the apartment without hesitation.
This apartment was spacious (2 bed rooms, L.R., Kitchen, Dining Room & bath), well appointed and above all clean. The mattresses were "just right", i.e. not too firm not too soft and the two feather pillows on each bed were just like home. There were extra blankets in the wardrobes though we did not need them. We stayed in December and the radiator heat was very comfortable. The unit is convenient to two of the 10 subway lines in Paris with easy transfers to all the others. There are six floors to the building with this apartment on the 2nd floor. A small but smooth running elevator is available together with a well fashioned circular staircase with old fashioned varnished wooden treads. The block is quiet and good for sleeping. Multiple cafes are near by as well as bakeries, a cheese shop and small grocery store/fruit markets.
The owner was amiable, accessible and very thorough in his directions to the unit and how to get into the building once you arrive.
The only negatives were that it is assumed that you know how to operate the various appliances as there are no instructions. We figured out how to use the combination washer/dryer unit but could not figure out how to use the TV which is probably all right as we don't speak French anyway.
Overall opinion: This unit is EXCELLENT assuming you are not expecting Four Seasons luxury for the reasonable rate charged.
The apartment was clean and neat. Balconies to look out. Bedrooms were spacious ]and comfortable. Kitchen had everything needed. Great neighborhood with everything close by. We could walk to the grocery store, great neighborhood restaurants, and a wonderful french pastry shop! There was also two metro stops within walking distance. The neighborhood was quiet, and the building was quite secure. Would stay there again!!
Although the building is old, Arnaud has done an excellent job of updating the inside with modern facilities. It is well located for public transportation, small reasonable restaurants, and lots of young people. The apartment was clean and well equipped for a short stay.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this Paris apartment. As advertised, it was spacious and clean. Arnaud's manager Sabah(?) was gracious and helpful. The location was great - two choices for the Metro, and grocery store, cafe, and bars in the quiet neighborhood. We got lucky with the August temperature, because it was relatively cool at night (no ac). My only suggestion to Arnaud would be to install ceiling fans in the bedrooms, or at least provide some window fans for the Summer evenings. I would certainly recommend this apartment to friends, and actually look forward to coming back...Thanks Arnaud. Brian Dormer
I have nothing but great experience renting this property when I took my family to Paris. It was a very early arrival( 7am) and the property manager(Sahab) managed to let us check in this early! not only that, he was so friendly and prompt to all of my needs. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are decorated thoughtfully, sheets and kitchen are clean, wifi is fast! The listing is moderate about the condition of this property. The communication with the owner before my arrival was flawless, he gave crystal clear instruction on where to find the property, how to gain the access etc. , I can't say Thanks enough to both the owner and the property manager.
The apartment locates on a quiet street with great air circulation, in those >100 summer days, this place offers us the most convenient and comfort. It is very close to metro line 8 and 9, line 6 is about 15 mins away; best of all, there are three bakery and cafes around the corner, many restaurants, 2 grocery stores. With the young and elder person in my group, I was able to make everyone happy because I have access to what everyone needs. Like one person in my group says, the best part of the Paris trip is the apartment. I'll definitely recommend this property to people. In fact I have already recommended this place to three of my friends, its perfect for a family trip to Paris.
