About owner/property manager

We fell in love with Melbourne Beach thanks to Rafael's passion for surfing. Escaping the hustle of Miami, the serenity of a small surfer town was right up our alley. After marrying and starting a family, we still loved coming to stay in Melbourne Beach. It was so often, we decided to make it our second home. We bought the cottage, made it our own and look forward to making lots of memories here for our family.

Fun weekend

  • 5 of 5

We were in town early and really wanted to get access to the house so the owner allowed us to get in early (paid of course) which gave just a couple of us a great time before the rest if the family arrived! The entire famity had a great time and loved that the beach was right there and we could sit outside and hear the waves crash on the shore! And loved inside the house as well, there were toys for the 2 year old that kept him entertained the entire time as well as a ring toss game the big Kids loved. The beach was beautiful and mostly was just us out there, at one point there were quite a few other but nothing like any other beaches we have been to, of course in the morning there are always a couple surfers out.

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

We have a very large family, therefore, vacations are usually a little chaotic. However, we stayed in Casa Playa for the week of the Fourth of July and can honestly say that it's been the most relaxing vacation we've taken.

Casa Playa had countless of activities to do- from swimming in the beautiful blue water, to playing board games and making s'mores- this house truly has something for everyone. We really enjoyed its appearance and how clean it was, and although we got there a few hours earlier than anticipated, the housekeeper was nothing but kind and helpful as she efficiently cleaned everything up for us. The house was truly magical, the owners supplied it with everything from board games and toys for the little ones, to inflatable tubes and paddle boards for the teens and adults. We were even surprised to see sunscreen, bug spray, and nail polish for touch-ups in case anyone needed them. The house had a beautiful and spacious kitchen stocked with flatware, dishes and even some earthenware, plus, the bedrooms were large enough for our whole family of eight. We were also happy to find the WIFI and were able to use our electronic devices- though, this was something we rarely did, since there was so much being offered that our laptops were only used for work purposes and our phones for the occasional call.

Furthermore, the beach was truly incredible. The sand was a mixture of ivory and porcelain white, the water was a beautiful turquoise color, and although the waves were sometimes rough, the ocean was tranquil in the mornings. Excluding swimming and relaxing in the water with the floaters provided by the owners, we also enjoyed fishing for three of the five days we spent there. The fishing was so great that we caught several fish all three days, and the pleasure of eating fresh fish was incredibly satisfying. Some of us were also lucky enough to see dolphins jumping in the water at sunset, and to experience the beauty and tranquility of the sea when the sun rose.

Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this house to anyone looking for some time away from the busy city lights and that wants to enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer. The kind owners made the experience a lot better, answering every question we had and equipping the house with things for the whole family. Casa Playa was a vacation spot worth remembering for sure.

Very comfortable and right on the beach

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 stayed at Casa Playa for spring break. Everything worked and the house was very clean, and if we had any questions, they were answered right away - it was amazing. Every room has a ceiling fan - we liked that. The house is very pleasant and beach-cottage-cozy. The location of the house is perfect, and the proximity to the surf shop was great - we rented bikes, boards, and had surf lessons. Casa Playa is a couple of miles down the road from Sebastian Inlet State Park: there is a lot of wildlife, the area is dark and quiet at night, with the sky full of stars - we really liked how peaceful it was. The owner is great to work with, I would definitely book this place again!

A nice, clean vacation spot

  • 4 of 5

The house was beautiful. The photos were accurate and gave a good idea of what to expect. Everything was neat and clean and shipshape. You can tell a family actually lives here part time and keeps the house in order. The bedrooms were spacious and well maintained. We felt comfortable right away. And the surf in front of the house was good. We felt like it was our own private beach. The owner provided good customer service and responded to questions quickly. We had only two small issues. One - is when the West winds blow be sure to cover yourself with bug spray while walking on the beach right in front of the house. The sand fleas and "no-see-um" bugs can be aggressive. We got bit badly the first night. After that we soaked in bug spray before going outdoors and we were fine. So be prepared. The other issue was low water pressure in the showers. Only one shower can be used at a time and every other water use needs to be shut off. Even then there was a very low flow. I think this is because the house has a septic tank and a well. If you are prepared for this you will be fine. Don't expect a hotel quality shower. But these are minor issues. And should not keep you from enjoying this quiet home off the beaten path. We might stay again if our plans allow it. Thanks for a great little break from our daily grind.

Owner's Response: Glad you all had a nice time! - Upon your check out, the housekeeper found the the water valve outside the home in the near off position. Not sure if someone in your party may have tampered with it thinking it was the hose hook up or something. We pride ourselves on being quaint and what most people look for when they are coming to Melbourne Beach. We were booked before and after you for the holidays and no one had any issues with the water. Hopefully you will come back and enjoy us again! (and the bugs will cooperate - this is something that is hit or miss in Florida but we provide bug spray and smoke sticks to help in the event they are biting.) All the best! Bricen and Rafael

Perfect Cottage on the Beach!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cottage on the beach! It has a fresh, clean surf style that is so well done. The owners have been attentive to what matters to vacation renters. It's in an excellent area for serious fishermen with great restaurants and shops closeby. The beach is nice and private. The perfect beach get-a-way!!
