Our 4 double (or triple )bedroom/ 4 bath/shower room apartment occupies the entire upper floor of our 'sandy palms,' beachfront property. If booked for 4 people, then just 2 bedrooms are available & the number of bedrooms available is based on 2 sharing.

The spacious accommodation enjoys wonderful beach and sea views of Hoopers Bay which is regarded as the best beach to stay on in Exuma.

Quietly located down its own tree lined drive and not disturbed by other properties, sandy palms is only 10 minutes from the international airport and 6 minutes from the capital, Georgetown whilst a good range of local shops are within a 5 minute easy walk.

Two bedrooms ( king & queen sized beds) are sea facing with large sliding glass doors leading to the large sundeck with tables and chairs for meals or relaxing and enjoying the sea views stretching all the way along the island and in summer offers marvelous sunsets. The two other bedrooms are garden facing and can be either twins or triples or kings and this gives a wide degree of flexibility for groups of families or friends traveling together but who want to enjoy space and privacy.

The Great Room, which runs the length of the building, directly connects all the bedrooms ( see a floor plan on the photos page) and has a dining area seating 10, the fully equipped kitchen, a study area and lounge which leads to the spacious sundeck.There is also a washer and dryer laundry facility in a separate room.

Outside, from the sundeck, a large staircase leads down into our palm filled garden which extends to the beach where we have loungers, tables and chairs and kayaks for our guests as well as a selection of beach toys and games. We also provide FREE kayaks and paddleboard for our guests to enjoy exploring the calm and safe Hoopers Bay or paddle with our resident GREEN TURTLES !

About Betty & Peter Oxley

Betty and Peter Oxley moved from England to Exuma in 1999 and established the Coral GardensB&B Guest House which has been rated #1 every year since 2009 by the worlds largest travelers website. We have enjoyed welcoming guests from all parts of the world but recognised that some people wanted to stay directly on the beach.

After some while of searching we found in 2012 the ideal location, only a short distance away and named it Sandy Palms in view of the numerous palm and coconut trees in the 1.5 acre garden which surrounds the property.

We continue to live and operate Coral Gardens but are on hand to welcome guests on arrival and help our Sandy Palms guests during their stay.

Being directly on what is regarded as the best beach to stay on in Exuma is very special, with a quiet but convenient location and a beautiful unspoilt beach to relax or enjoy as you wish.

Getting to Georgetown, Exuma ( airport code is GGT ) is straightforward with daily direct flights by both American and United with several direct flights a week on Delta and Air Canada. There are several daily flights from Nassau on Bahamasair or Sky Bahamas.

We organise the short taxi ride from the airport where you will be greeted by our dedicated driver and either Peter or Betty will personally welcome you on arrival at Sandy Palms and show you around and be available to explain local facilities and activities.

What makes this apartment unique

Hoopers bay is the most protected beach on Exuma as it is sheltered from the prevailing winds. The 1/2 mile ( 1 kilometer) long , soft white sandy beach slopes gently into the calm sea. Guests can enjoy swimming,snorkeling, kayaking or finding some of the green turtles to feed, all from the beach in the front of Sandy Palms whilst we can arrange boat trips directly from the beach for fishing or reef snorkeling .

wonderful property & ideally located

We stayed at Sandy Palms for one week with another couple and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Peter & Betty are wonderful hosts, very accommodating, helpful and accessible. The property is beautiful and the unit we occupied was very comfortable and well appointed.

The property is well situated for shopping with groceries and a liquor store within walking distance in one location and a spectacular meat & deli of equal distance in the opposite direction.

We rented a car from Peter for a couple of outings to explore other areas of Exumas and truly enjoyed our days. We visited Georgetwon a couple of times and enjoyed the Friday night buffet at Augusta Bay.

The beach was very nice and Peter had a grounds keeper to make sure it was kept clean. If you are looking for a good area to visit, with comfortable accommodations, you should consider Sandy Palms.

Great location, home and value

This is our 3rd time back to Exumas and 2nd on Hooper's Bay. This is the best property we have stayed in so far and a very good value for the location and accommodations. The way that the owners have it arranged is so that smaller groups do not have to pay for the entire home. The home is divided into some apartments below but we barely saw or interacted with the bottom guests. This is also the very best beach possible on the Exumas. Peter and Betty are very easy to work with. Highly recommend this property!

Great girls trip to Sandy Palms Exuma

We stayed in the 4 BR 4 BA upstairs apartment and were very comfortable. The home was clean and well cared for. It is nicer than the pictures can capture. The view is breathtaking. Everything we needed was there. This house is PERFECT for anyone looking for a relaxing beach vacation. It is situated on the best beach in Exuma. The colors of the water are amazing. Calm clear water. There are several other houses on the beach, but we mostly had the beach to ourselves. This property is centrally located but well off the road for privacy. Short drive in either direction to groceries, deli. The owner lives across the road and is extremely helpful with getting you settled in and is readily available. He has tremendous knowledge of the island and directed us to great beaches and an excursion. Truthfully, most days we were so happy with the Hooper's Bay location of this home that we saw no reason to leave the beach in front of the house. Although this home is perfect for families, we enjoyed a very special girls only trip that will be remembered for a lifetime! Thanks to Peter and Sandy Palms for making our stay fantastic! Oh, and put at least half of what you packed away. There is nowhere and no need to dress up. Shorts, tee shirts, swimsuits, sunscreen and a coverup is all you'll need. Promise!

an excellent month at sandy palms

Sandy Palms housed our entire family of 9 people, three being kids. The view from our deck is gorgeous, the rooms very comfortable, good space in the house, and also good deck space where we ate every meal. The beach is perfect, and the bay we were on was perfect for the kids to swim. All the toys there were great like kayaks, and toys for the kids to play with. all in all, a perfect vacation. fenton Elmendorf and John Elmendorf. Also Peter and Betty were very attentive to our needs.

DON'T Book This Property

The property was very clean upon arrival and well maintained. Washer broke down on first usage, but was replaced with a used washer quickly. BUT, DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY. Owners change terms of rental after arrival and charge your deposit. These dishonest owers should be avoided at all costs. Stay at this property at your own risk!

Owner's Response: HOMEOWNERS BEWARE OF THIS CHEAT & LIAR !! Mr Patrick R. of Michigan booked 2 rooms for only 4 people at our Sandy Palms property in our 4 bedroomed unit. When he arrived, & found the 2 unbooked bedrooms were locked, he announced he had other members of his family who were to join him. We agreed therefore to make these extra 2 rooms available at the price shown on our HomeAway listing & to save him from paying for them immediately, we would settle the extra cost by deduction from his Security Deposit. Surprise, Surprise - after his departure, he refused to accept & pay what was due & became aggressive & threatening in his e-mails. In spite of this & in view of our long & successful experience in letting properties to many happy visitors, we felt that the honourable thing to do was to refund his Security Deposit as he authorised. HomeOwners should be aware of this person & his devious methods in booking & only paying for accommodation for less than the numbers actually staying. Betty & Peter

OTTIMA, ECCELLENTE E PERFETTA. super consigliato

Consiglio questa casa a coppie, gruppi di amici, famiglie. E' PERFETTA. noi eravamo un gruppo di 6 persone. Abbiamo alloggiato Sandy Palm al piano superiore. Le camere sono belle e dotate ognuna di un bagno (comodità necessaria quando si è in tanti) la cucina è perfettamente attrezzata, quindi potete tranquillamente fare la spesa nei market e cucinare. La sala da pranzo è spaziosa e luminosa. ventilatori a pale ovunque e aria condizionata (non utilizzata dato il clima perfetto). Parliamo della vista: assolutamente spettacolare. Un oasi di cielo e mare si stende davanti ai vostri occhi, contornato da un giardino di palme. Il patio con vista è spazioso con due tavoli dove potete cenare o semplicemente guardare il panorama.

Posizione: avevamo l auto e quindi abbiamo girato l isola Great Exuma. Abbiamo visitato tutte le spiagge migliori. Ma alla fine devo dire che Hooper's Bay è la migliore. Sandy Palm è situata a Hooper's Bay, riparata dal vento e dalle maree. è una piscina naturale. Il posto migliore.

PETER il proprietario della casa è stato gentile al massimo. Disponibile e molto bravo. Noi non parliamo inglese e lui è stato paziente a spiegarci tutto. Disponibile per prenotarvi escursioni in barca, tour e per indicarvi le strade per accedere alle spiagge. Vi consiglia dove comprare e quali ristoranti sono migliori. insomma: Peter non solo mette a disposizione la sua villa meravigliosa, ma vi aiuta a rendere memorabile la vostra vacanza. PETER è INDISPENSABILE..

La spiaggia ha l'accesso privato.

Peter noleggia anche l'auto. A noi è servita per esplorare l'isola.

ah dimenticavo....oltre ad essere in una spiaggia da sogno (giudicherete voi coi vostri occhi) la posizione della villa è comodissima: 2minuti di macchina dal market e 5/10minuti da george town.

Peter e Betty sono stati gentili e disponibili.

Potessi allegare delle foto lo farei. Le parole non bastano.

Spero di tornare in quella casa perfetta di privacy assoluta in una spiaggia tranquilla e deserta.
