Guestbook comments from the owner

It was a pleasure meeting you. Your place was great in so many respects and we had a very relaxing time there! The view, the pool, and the quality of the unit itself were all major pluses. We really liked that it was close to St. George's but sort of secluded and private in relation to the busier areas on the island. We'd absolutely consider booking with you again if and when we return to Bermuda.

This place is absolutely beautiful! Heaven on earth!

We totally loved our week's stay. A great relaxing vacation! A very beautiful apartment with spectacular views. The sunset can be seen every morning from your bed!!! Mike is such a warm loving guy, who makes you feel comfortable the second you meet him. We rented a moped & travelled the entire island...then returning to this incredible hideaway! Highly recommend this amazing paradise!

Wow!

  • 5 of 5

After a few days at the end of South Road with family, my girlfriend and I moved up north to 'Near Escape' and oh man...we were SO glad we made that move. Within seconds ALL our stress faded away into nothingness. Off the beaten path a bit but easy access into St George's...you will want to rent a scooter. Our host and his dog were wonderful hosts that made the retreat even more relaxing. Although our stay was a short one, I would have loved to stay a bit longer and fully decompress. The view and the pool is what it was all about. I felt like I was George Clooney looking over Lake Como, it is a million dollar view that you will enjoy. In my opinion this location is best for a couple, but it can accommodate kids if needed. It had everything we needed, beautiful big bathroom, nice efficiency living room/kitchen and beautiful big bedroom, wifi. I want to go back next week...thanks so much for the hospitality!

Can't Wait to Go Back!

  • 5 of 5

The photos you see for this property don't do it justice. It really is the most serene place to lodge. I stayed with my partner for three nights and we loved it. We had the view all to ourselves and were really able to enjoy each other and soak it all in. Our host, Mike, is a very kind and hospitable person who went above and beyond to take care of us while we were in Bermuda. He is professional and provided us with a clean space and stayed in contact to provide us with top notch customer service. I'd also like to mention that we booked our stay with Mike pretty much the same day we needed to arrive and he helped us find transportation to the airport when I had trouble calling a cab. He is very accommodating!

If you choose to stay here you'll definitely want to get a scooter, because St. David's island is pretty quiet. The nearest activity is Clearwater Beach, which we walked to (its about a 30 minute walk) and Gombeys (a bar with food). There are food options about 10 minutes away by car/scooter just over the bridge and also on St. Georges which is maybe 15 minutes by car/scooter. Hamilton is about 45 minutes away and the Navy area even further (we never made it there).

In Hamilton we ate at the Pickled Onion which was the best! We also ate at Wahoos in St. Georges which was pretty good. We really enjoyed visiting the beach near St. Catherine's Fort. It was beautiful and I even saw some Sea Glass. The unfinished church was also nice to stop and see (it is structurally unsafe to enter so you really only spend a few minutes there just to look around and take some photos).

If you're trying to choose between staying here and staying elsewhere, I will tell you to do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a relaxing stay here.

Serene and away from the crowds

  • 5 of 5

We had wonderful stay at this property. No regrets. The key consideration is how you will get from this quiet get away to the rest of the island: bike, bus, or taxi. We chose the bus system. Once we unloaded our luggage, we took the 10 minute walk to the bus stop and made our way to St George on the bus - via a transfer at the gate - where we got groceries, a two day bus pass from the post office, and great meal at Wahoo's. We loved taking the bus since we were able to meet many different people, locals and tourists; but you need to be patient and plan ahead. After a full day of adventures, we loved relaxing on the pool deck with a glass of wine looking out over the harbor and listing to the sounds of nature (and the rare jet flying by). Pizza is closer than you think if you can find the shortcut.. Thanks to Mike for the hospitality.

excellent vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I like beautiful quiet locations. This was perfect, the view was wonderful, the pool nice, and the location was quiet. Mike was a great host, available but not intrusive. The apartment was plenty big, and a beautiful view.

If you stay here you will need a scooter--we liked that, but it may not be for everyone. GT is a nice calm part of the country which suited us, some nice restaurants too. if you want action you need to get to Hamilton. Having said that, the nearby beaches are wonderful, and easy to get to.
