About Cherie Pattishall

Cherie grew up in South Tampa and always had a love for the beach. Traveling the 20 or so miles to the beach every weekend when she was attending Plant High School. Eventually she moved to Madeira Beach where she also owns Vicinity Realty Services, Inc.

Cherie Pattishall purchased this cottage in 1996

Why Cherie Pattishall chose Florida Central Gulf Coast

I purchased this property from the long-time owner because I just love the classic beach cottages. I promised her that I would keep the integrity of the cottage, and not tear it down for a new home to be built. The bonus is the wonderful location. The Cottage by the Pass is the epitome of living the beach life.

What makes this cottage unique

Cottage by the Pass offers an opportunity to enjoy a visit to the Gulf coast while staying in a classic beach cottage. There are so few opportunities to enjoy our area the way 'used to be'. This comfortable cottage is located in the heart of it all - easy beach access, John's Pass Village, walk to restuarants, etc.

Our second time staying at the cottage and loved it again

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at the cottage and will definitely not be our last. We had previously stayed in the upstairs unit but decided to try the downstairs this time and found it every bit as lovely but without the stairs. Everything was as perfect as last time and we had everything we needed plus more. The owners instructions sent before our arrival was also very complete so we never had to contact them at all during our visit. One of the best things about the cottage is the location including the beach and walking over to the Bamboo Beach Bar across the street that has the best live music day and night. The cottage feels like our home away from home now and we're looking forward to our next visit.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you chose to come back to the Cottage by the Pass for a second visit (hopefully there will be many more visits in your future). I'm glad you made note of the clarity of my instructions, and thank you for the kind words. I feel it's important that our guests feel comfortable with their travel plans and as such I try to make our guests arrival as smooth as possible. Traveling can be stressful enough, especially when making your arrangements online. I want my guests to feel welcome and have a stress-free visit, and it starts with clear arrival information. I look forward to your next visit to your home away from home. Thank you.

Great place in great location!

Nice place with everything you need for a beach getaway. Location directly across from Johns Pass Village was excellent, and just turn around and there is the beach. Can't beat it ~ highly recommend!

Great Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Cherie the owner was very responsive and accommodating on all of my questions and needs. The cottage was like a home away from home and much better than a hotel. I totally recommend going this way instead of a hotel. She made sure we had all the necessities and was very clean. The showers are nice to shower in. She was smart to add a second bathroom to the cottage it was smaller but well worth having, I appreciate that, because most older homes only had one bathroom so she was smart in building a second bathroom and very well decorated.

My sister in law loved the big kitchen and middle island, we sure needed it :) There's a water faucet outside to wash off sand before coming in. I do wish there was a straight path to the beach from the cottage instead of having to turn left to walk pass the condo and then up. The condo should let her have a path straight path from her cute cottage, but it doesn't take away from the cottage. The mattress was great sleeping which is super important to my husband and I, and again we appreciate that the owner saw that was an important part of a family's stay which is a great nights sleep :)

The location can't be beat, because it is straight across from John's Pass if that is important to you, which we liked a lot.

No needing the car. The beach is beautiful there and so relaxing. Thank you Cherie for sharing your relaxing cottage! We would love to rent it again if we come through Madeira Beach :):)

Owner's Response: Teresa, Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so glad you and your family enjoyed your visit and that you found the cottage be a great place to make family memories. I'm glad you let other know about some of the important items that make a vacation place comfortable and convenient. Both beds are memory foam mattresses, which is why you found them to be so comfortable (I have the same one in my home). The kitchen - it's my favorite! While on vacation it's so nice to be able to spend time with friends and family in the "heart of the home", not to mention saving some money by being able to cook on your own. I hope you will find yourself at the cottage again real soon. You are always welcome.

My HomeAway from Home!

  • 5 of 5

This is my third year of coming to the Cottage by the Pass. Honestly, it feels like coming home. The kitchen/dining area is so, so spacious; it serves us well for having nearby family in as our guests! The close proximity to the beach is great for slowing down and finding rest. The owner is accommodating to our requests and needs.

We frequented Carrabba's this year; its not too far away. Amazing Italian food. And we discovered the dolphin tours available just across the street and another great restaurant, Pirate's Pub (I think) ... and the dock where dolphins often frequent. So much fun!

I highly recommend but hope no one takes "my desired time" on calendar. Ha!

Great location, homey atmosphere, beds sleep well (very important!), well-stocked kitchen (we cook in a lot) and space to spread out. Perfect!! Simply perfect!

We enjoyed it!

  • 4 of 5

The host was so nice and very easy to get ahold of by phone. We unexpectedly arrived several hours before check in and she was able to accommodate us, which was so nice. Overall, the pictures listed for the unit are accurate and helpful. There are window units all over the place, which worked very well. One thing that I would be aware of is that we kept the blinds to the windows pretty much closed our whole stay; the unit is in a busy/populous area (which is good) but we liked the privacy afforded by the blinds. Downside - no views to speak of from the unit (even if we had opened the blinds - it's a ground level unit surrounded by large condos and high rise resorts.) I think the upstairs unit might be the better bet, actually. Next time we might stay in that one. The area is nice; small town-y. The beach is a short walk (technically across the street, but you have to walk a few hundred feet down the road to get to the public access. The area is probably best for older folks/parents of young children. If you're a 20 or 30 something, you might want to be closer to st pete or clearwater. We didn't have a car, which wasn't a huge problem (public transportation is GREAT along the beach, and Uber/Lyft aren't difficult to come by) but I think it would have been nice to have more mobility. The place was cute, clean, and had everything we needed. We cooked all the nights we were there, and there's a dishwasher/washer/dryer in the kitchen. Well appointed. For the price, this place is a great value and very cute. I'm not sure if pets are allowed, but we found some pet hair on the couch, and the place seemed like it would be pet friendly..
