About Abigail Daly
I moved to Strone in 2015 having fallen in love with the area on my many stays at Ruskin Lodge. I work with charities and tourism organisations and edit a magazine.
Abigail Daly purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Abigail Daly chose Argyll and Bute
Me and my partner bought Ruskin Lodge after discovering the area on a day trip from Glasgow where we were living at the time. Cowal is a beautiful and relatively undiscovered part of Scotland and there are so many different kinds of landscapes - lush ancient forest, dramatic barren mountains, a gorgeous coastline and bubbling rivers.
What makes this Cabin unique
The lodge is our idea of a dream holiday escape. It has been completely refurbished and all the gorgeous golden wood has been lovingly restored. It almost shines. I love sitting in the living room and watching the birds and red squirrels in the ancient oak tree. I love hearing the creaks of the logs after a warm day. I love the feeling of the thick, soft carpet between my toes!

Amazing location and lovely lodge
This lodge was ideal for our family of 5 plus dog. It was very comfortable and the beautiful walks literally on the doorstep made it perfect. We ventured further afield to Loch Ness, Stirling, Oban and Isle of Bute - all worthwhile daytips! The owner was approachable and friendly with good recommendations, and on hand if needed for advice. The kids were really sad to say goodbye to the place and we can't wait to return. An amazing holiday!
Relaxing long weekend, all you could ask for
Five of us stayed in the lovely well equipped lodge. Very comfortable beds, hot strong shower and all the kitchen equipment you could ask for. Within very close distance of Pucks Glen for walking and exploring. Not too far to drive to Dunoon, Sandbank, Benmore (walking distance) or a little further afield. Very spacious lodge and a very friendly and informative host. Beautiful part of Scotland.
Loved it so much stayed an extra day, lodge is cosy welcoming and warm. Can't wait to go back.
Very hospitable owners, went out their way to ensure we had a relaxing break, the treats left for our dog was a lovely gesture.
Excellent,could not have been better.
Abigail has thought of everything regarding the lodge.Everything you will need is there. We were only there for 2 nights but we wish it could have been longer.Their only smell complaint we had was that when we arrived the lodge was absolutely freezing, hence we had to put all the heating on.Having said that, once it was heated it was lovely and cosy.Even our 2 gorgeous King Charles Cavalier pups enjoyed it.Thank you Abigail,we will be back,if you will have us.

Lovely lodge, spacious and warming.
Lots of walks and great scenery. Would deffinately return.
fantastic place to stay
We had a super time at the lodge. Beautiful scenery and thoroughly recommend it for walking or just relaxing. Great for dog owners too.
Top two attractions in the area are both within easy walking distance of the lodge. Benmore Botanic Gardens is a pleasant 20 minute walk along a track and Pucks Glen is a minute walk from your doorstep. Argyll Forest Park has a network of walking routes. There is a well stocked mini-market and service station 2 minutes drive away. The lodge is in a quiet location, and is not overlooked by other lodges. There are many great options for drinks and meals in the area - local produce is frequently on the menu and views are spectacular!
