The apartment, (42 square meter) is located in the historical centre of Florence. It is at the 4th floor (without elevator) of a typical building. From the window you will enjoy the view over Palazzo Pitti and rooftops of Florence. The apartment has a living room with a fully equipped kitchenette (seats 5-6 and sofa bed), a bedroom (double bed) and a bathroom with shower and washing machine. The apartment has air conditioning, heating and free wi-fi. All main museums and monuments of Florence can be visited within walking distance. It has a lot of light and fresh air, and it is in one of the most elegant and quite district of the city very close to Old Bridge, Boboli garden, Santo Spirito square, via Maggio (the elegant street of antique shops). The stairs (60) are a bit of a challenge, but think of them as your private gym...
The facades of the building have been recently renovated.
I am a student of Polimoda International Institute Fashion Design & Marketing in Florence where I study fashion marketing and communication. My parents are two physicians and work in Careggi''s teaching hospital and they often host colleagues of other countries in Florence for conferences and meetings.
My parents have bought me one this apartment for my university course. I usually live in the apartment during the period of the studies in Polimoda.
Ilaria Tartaglia purchased this apartment in 2013
First time I saw this property, I loved it because it was a very nice apartment in a splendid location in Florence. The apartment is bright, calm and close to everything. It is located in one of the most elegant area of city with many very nice restaurants, bars etc.
Boboli's garden is one of the most famous Italian garden.
It is in a crucial position among the most beautiful squares and streets of Florence: Piazza Santo Spirito, Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti, via Tornabuoni, via Maggio. Boboli's garden is very close (5 minute by foot) and it is one of the most famous Italian garden. It is wonderful.
Beautiful apartment, very stylish and chic and in the heart of Florence. My son and I loved staying here and its location, we enjoyed eating in Santo Spirito and seeing Pitti Palace as soon as we came out of the apartment every morning.
Bernadette and Riccardo Tartgalia were very hospitable and kind and we're always available to help whenever we had any questions about Florence.
The neighbours were also very kind to my son and I and by the time we left Florence we felt we had made many friends.
I would highly recommend staying here for your trip to Florence.
The apartment is south of the River Arno. On a map it seems that is away from the main attractions but in reality it isn't. The Ponte Vecchio is only a few minutes away, the train station about 20 minutes with rolling luggage but on the map looks further.
The apartment is lovely with everything the ordinary traveller looking for a self-catering apartment should need; washing machine, dish washer, well equipped kitchen, Nespresso machine, comfy bed, teapot (a first in Italy for us), etc…, everything we expect (hope) for from an apartment. If there is a negative (and it wasn't for us) it is that the apartment is on the 4th floor but this is mentioned on the site so shouldn't be a surprise to anyone booking. We were greeted by Benedetta (Ilaria's mum) who showed us around the apartment and left us with a bottle of wine.
There are several supermarkets in the vicinity, the closest is near the Ponte Vecchio, as well as several smaller places selling bread/meats/cheese.
We regularly visited the gelateria at Ponte Santa Trinita (other gelaterie are available) often eating it on the Ponte Santa Trinita, watching the world go by. You also get a good view of the Ponte Vecchio (next bridge down).
Mercato Centrale (near Basilica San Lorenzo) is also worth a visit, food market downstairs, restaurants upstairs. Ate there on a couple of occasions.
Met up once with Benedetta and Riccardo (her husband) for coffee and a chat which was lovely. I do wish my Italian was as good as their English.
We would recommend the FirenzeCard for a 3 day blitz of all the significant museums in Florence. I also allows you priority entry (worth the fee alone) and a 3 day bus ticket which we used to go to Fiesole.
Would we use this apartment again? Oh yes, without any reservations.
This apartment provided all that was needed for my daughter and I during our two week travels in northern Italy. We were met at the door by the owners' parents, caring for the apartment while their artist daughter and her husband are living in Paris. They went out of their way to be sure we were comfortable and well informed, even suggesting places to eat: Gusto Pizza was great! The internet worked fine, Keurig type coffee maker included pods; washer and drying racks were so helpful, and the location was perfect! I couldn't have found a more well suited v.r. for us, and wish our other stays had been nearly as nice!
This a walk-up apartment in an older-style building (by American standards) with a relatively steep and narrow stairway. But after one or two trips up and down we felt comfortable with it (and we're 62 and 57 years old with decent fitness). Consider it good training for walking and seeing the magnificent sights in Florence.
The apartment itself is very clean and charming, and it is within 150 yards of Palazzo Pitty and easy walking distance to Ponte Vecchio and tourist sites on the other side of the river. The apartment is in an area that has a genuine "neighborhood" feel. The restaurants in the area were very good and very reasonably priced.
Finally, we were several hours late on arrival, and Ilaria's friend Paola was extremely gracious and waited for us. And Ilaria has been prompt, helpful, and friendly in all of our exchanges. We highly recommend the apartment.
Our two week stay here was perfect. Situated on a quiet side street, yet steps away from the Pitti Palace and the Ponte Vecchio, the apartment offers the best of Florence. We've traveled to Florence several times and this is now our favorite place to stay. The apartment is immaculate, is perfectly appointed, has excellent AC and fan system (we happened on a heat wave), and the contemporary kitchen allowed for great use of fresh ingredients from the nearby outdoor market and local grocery. Plus, just down in the square is the best gelato in Florence along with excellent moderately priced restaurants. The 60 steps up to the apartment will be a real issue for some, but, the exercise was helpful! From the apartment all of Florence is easily walkable, and then upon your return the apartment offers a sweet and truly Italian comforting oasis after touring. You'll be hard pressed to find more gracious and attentive owners.
My husband and I stayed in this apartment for our 10-day honeymoon in Florence. It was exactly what we expected based on the reviews and the A/C was heavenly in the heat wave we experienced in Florence. We did not use the kitchen very much since there were so many delicious restaurants nearby, but it was really convenient to have it if we needed it. The apartment was quiet, clean, and the perfect amount of space for us. The bedroom got so dark at night that we could have slept in for hours each day had we wanted to. The location of this apartment was perfect and an easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go. We also highly recommend Enoteca Pitti Gola e Cantina just around the corner, where we enjoyed amazing wine, fantastic service and delicious food at least four times during our visit. Thank you so much for a wonderful apartment, it made our stay in Florence all the better.
Near the apartment I recommend some very nice places (range 50-200 metros):
- La Casalinga (via dei Michelozzi) a very typical Tuscany restaurant with a very good rate cost/quality
- Gusta Pizza (via dei Michelozzi), you can eat one of the best pizza in Florence
- T'amerò, (Piazza Santo Spirito) a very nice restaurant good price and good food in an particular enviroment
- Federico is handy in Sdrucciolo de' Pitti for a light lunch
- O' Munaciello (via Maffia) a Neapolitan pizzeria and restaurant in Florence
