We're a professional couple from Seattle with an importing business that brings us to all corners of the world. We love out of the way, undiscovered paradises.
Steve purchased this Chalet in 2011
Why Steve chose Marblemount
We became attracted to Marblemount a number of years ago while on hiking vacations and purchased a small farm there. This beautiful chalet on the Skagit River came along a little later, AMAZINGLY, just a few short weeks AFTER we took the rainbow shot that now serves as our logo. 'Rainbow House' is being enjoyed by an ever-increasing number of friends, clients and guests who have discovered the restorative magic of the Upper Skagit Valley and the North Cascades.
What makes this Chalet unique
Wherever we are in the world, all we need to do is think of ourselves at our North Cascades property, taking brisk walks in the mountain air along the Cascade River to the Marblemount fish hatchery, watching Marblemount's famous bald eagles in Winter or the King Salmon running in early Fall. We call it a 'Marblemount Moment.' So will you!

Beautiful home in gorgeous area!
We loved our stay at the Rainbow House -- it's architecturally beautiful, well-stocked, and furnished with lovely furniture and really comfortable beds. The open layout downstairs is great as it allows everyone to socialize together easily. And the interior design has a lot of small touches (we especially loved the Pacific NW paintings!) that amount to a stunning space. Steve is incredibly responsive and helpful with recommendations for the area. We had fun watching the cows in the neighboring farm property, and the National Park is right down the road making for great days out in nature. We will definitely be back -- thank you Steve!
Thanks so much for taking the time to write. It was great having you as guests and we hope you will return!
Comfortable, well equipped vacation house
We enjoyed our 3 night stay very much. This was our first visit to the Northern Cascades since moving to Washington, and the accommodations were very comfortable. The house sits on a large tract so it is very private and quiet.
The house was well-equipped for our needs. The Weber grill on the deck is easy to use and a great feature. The house overall is clean and well-maintained, and both the living area and master bedroom are relatively large.
The owner responded quickly to our initial reservation request and to follow-up questions, and everything he said was accurate. We were very satisfied.
A comfy, quiet retreat near North Cascades National Park
We stayed at the Rainbow House for 6 nights in Sept 2017. It was very clean, comfortable and everything was in good working order. The home was tastefully decorated, there were plenty of books to read and Netflix was available. The house is set back from the road so it was quiet and relaxing whether we sat outside on the large porches or inside the comfy living room. We appreciated the onsite laundry room and supplies since we had hiking clothes to wash (the nearest laundromat was approx 15 miles away). The entrance to the Park was about 5 miles from the house. We also had close access to trails outside the Park boundary, as well as the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. We recommend the nearby Marblemont Diner for lunch/dinner.
Spectacular valley location
The highlight of our Rainbow House stay had to be enjoying sunsets on the deck while sipping a glass of wine and watching the cows in the field next door. While a bit dated, it was fully equipped and very comfortable and cozy. We found it to be perfectly located for accessing hikes in North Cascades NP. We LOVED the park and had perfect weather to make the views from our hikes absolutely spectacular! As others have mentioned, It is a good idea to stock up on groceries before you arrive since stores are a bit of a drive away. Also, I somehow missed the part about the washer and dryer being available for an extra fee. I have rented many vacation homes and have never before encountered this arrangement, but it did not inconvenience us since our visit was relatively brief. We managed to break a wine glass during one of our sunset-watching sessions and the owner was not disturbed in the least. Thanks for understanding! We certainly hope to visit again in the future.
The wine glass could not have met a more glorious end! We will be making some updates before next Summer and would love to see you back.
What a great reprieve after long days of hiking. Everything one could imagine is well stocked in this beautifully appointed home. Perfect location for some of the best hikes in the Park, as Cascade Pass and Hidden Lake are just a really bumpy road away! Awesome start to the day, with options of french press, drip or Keurig to begin your hike! Steve was super responsive to any questions that we had in advance of our stay as well as during our stay. We were sorry to leave!
We loved having you as guests! And you found two of our favorite hikes (among many). The natural local charms do so much of our work for us. Please come back!
Relaxing stay at rainbow house
Great location for a base to North Cascades! Well stocked house, comfortable beds. Washer/dryer would be nice for longer stays.
Thanks so much. Access to the laundry room has been a bigger issue this Summer than in the past, and we will be addressing this for greater clarity before the 2018 hiking season begins. Appreciate the comments!
