About Sue Murphy
We live in Windham, Maine, near Sebago Lake, and go to our home near Sugarloaf often. My husband is a ski coach on the mountain, and when not skiing, I run a program for adults with intellectual disabilities and autism in the Portland, Maine area.
Sue Murphy purchased this House in 2010
Why Sue Murphy chose Stratton
We chose this property as a second home so that we could enjoy skiing all winter, and the many outdoor activities the area has to offer in the Spring, Summer and Fall. My husband has been a 'Sugarloafer' for almost 50 years, so we wanted to be close to the mountain.
What makes this House unique
The location of our home is just beautiful, especially after a new snowfall, which there has been plenty of this winter!! It is located on a very small dead-end road, with a couple of year round and several seasonal neighbors. We are surrounded by hills, fir trees, and wildlife. It's peaceful, relaxing, and a great get-a-way!You can feel yourself unwind as you travel down the road. We chose this home because it is small and perfect for two, but with 3 bedrooms, plenty big for visitors. It is cozy, rustically decorated, fairly new, and very clean. Our new 'electric' fireplace adds a nice touch! t's also a great place for our grandchildren to visit, and other family members.

The rental was as great as the pictures and owners description made it sound!
a little bit of heaven on earth
everything was perfect, just what I was looking for, I'll be visiting again next year.
This property is exactly what we were hoping for! Quiet, private, comfortable. There are a lot of things to do in the area. We Saw 4 moose on rt. 16. Quill Hill has a 360 degrees breathtaking view. Smalls Falls is a must. The home is clean, comfortable and has everything you would need. We are looking forward to another visit in the future. I would highly recommend.
25 years and counting!
My husband and I booked the property very close to our check-in time and the owner was very helpful. The welcome book left no questions unanswered. Privacy and proximity to fun and food was perfect! We hope to return!
A true taste of the interior of Maine.
Was in Maine around 30 years ago finally made it back. Was the slow season for the tourist season. But there was plenty to do and see. Was far enough off the coast that it was very relaxing!! The hardest thing was weather to just relax at the cabin or enjoy the local mountains and sites and sea food and restaurants. the locals were very friendly and helpful! or enjoy a drive to the coast! Not a bad thing!!
Just Like Home
Our stay was ideal. The accommodations were clean, spacious, quiet and comfortable. All the necessities were available in the kitchen to make meals and clean up. There was plenty of light through large windows each with its own view of the natural landscape. Privacy and peace prevailed as the cabin is not directly on Route 27 which is often busy with truck traffic. A short drive north to Stratton Village included a superb market offering all necessities and a large variety of fresh food items, restaurants and a gas station. The location was an ideal base to explore the surrounding area.
