About Jackie Clark
'Amy's by-the-Sea' has been in view of our family summer home since 1940 when my grandmother Amy Foote and my grandfather Bill, camped on this property in 1917. It was first built by the Forbes family and in 1984 was sold and then sold again in 2004. Finally, in 2011, my brother and sisters and I got together and bought 'Amy's' which has been a large part of our summer lives for over 60 years.
Jackie Clark purchased this Cottage in 2011
Why Jackie Clark chose South Wellfleet
My siblings and I have been coming to this location since we were young children. Our father had been coming since he was 8 years old and used to watch the German glider pilots fly gliders off of the dunes of Maguire Landing. We were 'hooked' on the area from an early age just like our father was.
What makes this Cottage unique
We all love the peace, relaxation and nature of the area -- it engergizes us! The air is clean, the birds sing every morning, the berries are in bloom in mid-summer and you can hear the ocean at night. The moon and stars are spectacular and some of us have seen the Northern Lights from the ocean dunes.

Very nice long weekend
We had a very nice long weekend here.
The cottage was comfortable and perfectly sized for us. The outdoor shower was very nice, but the indoor one was fine as well. (We're used to small bathrooms in NYC!)
We were able to cook quite a bit in the kitchen, which saved some money, although we did have great food at Mac's in Wellfleet and Blue Willow (walking distance! Great breakfast sandwiches!)
We loved lounging on the porch in the morning before walking to the nearby beach or along the back trails. One night we even had a small fire in the fire pit and roasted marshmallows!
The house is very well situated for getting anywhere on the Cape. The owner kindly gave directions for avoiding traffic on Rt. 6!
I could see how the road running by the house might be very loud in the summer, but it was fine for us in the off season.
The owner was very easy to work with and gave us lots of great information about the area.
We'd definitely stay here again.
Perfect for a beach break
We really truly enjoyed our stay at Amy’s-by-the-sea. We found everything exactly as advertised. While the cottage is quite small, we spent majority of our time there enjoying the patio, which is very peaceful and surrounded by trees. We used the outdoor shower exclusively, which was definitely the highlight of our stay. Both the beach and fantastic French bakery are mere steps from the cottage. We will definitely return again.
Cozy, comfortable cottage in a wonderful location, helpful owner
We found the other reviews to give us a pretty accurate sense of the cottage. Jackie is helpful and detail-oriented and everything was very well set up with clear instructions. The cottage is cozy and traditional but not as tiny as we'd feared, with plenty of room for the three of us. The location is phenomenal: we walked through the woods behind the house to the Cedar swamp trail, the top of the bluffs, and Marconi. We walked on the road to the ocean beach several times though it made me nervous because the cars go by fast; once we got our sticker we started driving to the beaches and ponds, so we could take our stuff and have our pick of lovely nearby places to swim and play in the waves. (For a bay beach, if you wish to avoid waves and shark warnings, I recommend Duck Harbor, about a 20 minute drive away). The fantastic French bakery is a quarter mile up the road. We biked out of the house to the beaches and rail trails; there is a route that takes one into the town center without having to bike on Route 6. From the cottage we could hear cars go by on the road but most of the time we didn't really notice them. There is no central AC, but the little room unit in the living room was sufficient to keep most of the cottage reasonable while we were there (outside temperatures last week went up to the mid '80s). Wifi was great for all but about 10 minutes one morning. We used the outdoor shower and hung out on the deck a lot, except the one morning it rained.
Thank you for your nice review. I am so glad you felt roomier than expected. We love our little spot in paradise! Thanks for sharing so many thoughts and details.
We loved staying at this house. As other reviewers have said, it was close both to the ocean and the Rail Trail. We cooked and grilled in most days and it was extremely well supplied for that purpose. Huge back yard with gorgeous tall pine trees, which made it feel cooler than other sites we visited while on the Cape. And the back deck was lovely -- we spent half of our time there. Cannot recommend this place more
Thank you for your nice review of our cottage. Hearing from travelers who enjoy our cottage as much as we do really makes my day. Please come back again soon.

The house is as described and pictured. It's small but had plenty of room for us and our adult son. The location can't be beat--ten minute walk from a beautiful beach and a ten minute walk to the best bakery around. It was also an easy drive to the National Seashore beaches and countless restaurants. Communication was excellent and check in was easy as could be. We'd happily stay again!
Very pleased with location, close to rail trail and beach!
Cottage is one of two cottages owned by us in the National Seashore less than 1/2 mile from ocean beach. Back trail also to bluff overlooking ocean and Marconi site. Stroll on cedar trail through the rare White Cedar Swamp in the National Park. Bike Rail Trail, So. Wellfleet Gen Store and Boulangerie Bistro and bakery 1/2 mile.
