Comfy, Cozy, and Clean!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd visit to North Captiva and found Shell Cottage to be a great choice. We felt comfortable as soon as we walked through the door. Very well equipped, great TV, and super location just a street away from Mango's.

At the end of the street was a private spot and beach access that was perfect for us. Nice pool, beds, furniture, and everything we needed. They even had a trailer for the golf cart which came in handy for hauling the kayak to the beach!

We made a short side trip to Sanibel but we much preferred North Captiva due to easy access to the beautiful beaches. Kayak, swim, fish, and take advantage of the beautiful surroundings.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to next time. Pat was super to work with and we highly recommend Shell Cottage!

Beautiful! Peaceful! Relaxation!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful island! The beach house was perfect! Pat was wonderful to work with! The house is completely stocked with everything you could need. We rent a lot of vacation homes while traveling and this was by far the best experience ever! We had manatees swim right by us on the beach and saw numerous Dolphins ! Have recommended to all our family and friends this is a must vacation destination! Only downside the mosquitos were horrible and no amount of repellent seem to help so we were eaten alive trying to swim in the pool or even on the beach in the evenings

Wonderful stay, beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful relaxing time at this home. They have literally thought of everything and we were so pleased with how roomy the house was and how nicely decorated and kept. The pool area is just perfect and so wonderful to have it completely contained and have lush landscaping for a tropical private feel. The location is just perfect and so close to the marina and grill and island store for the little extras but also just a few houses from a private beach access. Its a perfect spot and the owners were an absolute joy to work with and very helpful and accomidating. We will definately return and can not imagine a more perfect spot to stay, very comfortable, very charming and has all the extras one could possibly imagine. They thought of everything! Thank you both so very much for helping to make our little vacation possible and such a joy to unwind and spend QUALITY time with my 2 little boys. Perfect! :)

Fantastic owners and a beautiful Island

  • 4 of 5

First of all, Pat and Tom are terrific! They helped us arrange everything and even stocked the house with our groceries! We didn't have to touch a thing. The house is small but well appointed and the beds are very comfy and clean! The master bath is fantastic and our daughter loved the bed in the second bedroom. If you have seen pictures of the pool you can tell its great. The beach is about 100 yards away and easily walkable although the golf cart was a huge help with the trailer to haul the included beach chairs/umbrellas/cooler/toys. The island itself is just that and the beautiful beach has a ton of sting rays, ghost crabs, ospreys, and turtles to see. We had a couple of issues while there but Pat was on the spot to take care of everything. The house has everything you would need including shampoo and soaps so we really didn't need to bring a thing which is excellent for flying into the island. Theres lots of ceiling fans to help keep you cool. We had dinner twice a Barnacle's which was great but obviously expensive (100 bucks for 4 people). Mango's has some general items for sale but we didn't eat there.

Couple of things: bring lots of bottled water. The water on the island has a lot of sulfur smell and bad taste. So if you make tea or coffee you will want bottled water. Also, there was no bagged ice for sale at Mangos or Barnacles so the bottled water frozen will help keep your trips to the beach cool.

Sea grass is floating everywhere in the ocean at the time we were there which is normal but can get aggravating at times. The sunsets are amazing!

Pat has a ton of linens and blankets so no worries there. Everything is very clean and well taken care of. There is very little cell phone service there but there is WIFI available and a land line. The ferry on our way out slowed down and we watched the dolphins jump right behind our boat! If you go to the end of the airport they play there every morning.

We enjoyed our stay! Thank you Pat and Tom!!!

Perfectly appointed tropical get-away

  • 5 of 5

This was our second trip to North Captiva Island so we were familiar with the streets and homes and knew the location we preferred. This home is in a great location halfway between Gulf Drive and Rum Road. Easily walk-able to the beach and the marina should you choose to walk.

The house is adorable, well appointed and comfortable with high end linens and an updated kitchen. The front porch was wonderful and private due to the lush landscaping all around. The pool area, also private, gave the feeling of being in a tropical hide-away. The landscaping is gorgeous and the fountain was relaxing to hear in the background while reading pool side or sitting on the porch upstairs.

We had everything we needed in the kitchen, bedrooms, pool area, and for recreation - even books, games, life vests, goggles and pool floaties to name a few.

We enjoyed using the golf cart and bikes to cruise the island and the kayaks to cruise the ocean.

The home and surrounding area was exceptionally clean and modern.

Pat and her Husband were wonderful as they communicated with us prior to our arrival and when they met us at the marina to welcome us and take us to the property.

The home is stocked with everything you need to be comfortable and if you would like them to stock the fridge and pantry with groceries and sundries, they will do that for you prior to your arrival for a VERY small fee.

We loved this cottage house for our family of 4 (kids are 6 and 8) and there is room for others with the pull out sofa bed. Although not needed for us, we also noticed a play pen for little ones.

The owners have thought of everything! Fabulous accommodations!

Many thanks!

Wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a wonderful stay on North Captiva! The house was even better than described. Our family of 6 had plenty of room. The house was beautifully decorated and stocked with everything we could have needed! Our hosts, Pat and Tom were wonderful. They were super helpful with all of our questions, and concerns, as well as helping us on arrival and departure. It was great to have a private pool - and it's probably one of the best on the island. We will definitely be visiting North Captiva again and highly recommend both the island and this wonderful house! This is the place to be for a relaxing, laid back beach vacation!
