This property has been in my family for many, many years. Because the original home was uninhabitable, and had to be taken down after my mother's passing, we built MorningGlory so we could enjoy the property that held so many wonderful memories. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have! Owners, Regis and JoAnne Storch
Morning Glory is central to everything and is located in a much sought after real estate area in Deep Creek. It is not part of a community or subdivision, so it is very peaceful.
I am always a little hesitant to rent a place online site unseen but everything was exactly as promised. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and had everything we needed for a week-long stay in Deep Creek. Kate, the manager of the property, was also excellent to deal with. I have a few pre-arrival questions about the area and the cabin and she went above and beyond to answer them. As well, we had a slight technical issue with the Internet (beyond the homeowners control) but Kate still worked very hard on our behalf to rectify the situation and even provided a temporary solution. The customer service was just exceptional!
We truly enjoyed our stay at Morning Glory! The house was ideal for our family, very comfortable, clean, and well stocked with towels, linens, and kitchen stuff. It was very honestly and thoroughly represented on the vrbo web site, in terms of its description and pictures. It was on a quiet street, in a very convenient location near the Lake and lots of the parks and attractions which we wanted to visit.
We hope to vacation at the Lake again, in a year or two, and would be very happy to stay at Morning Glory again.
Our extended family of 9 had a GREAT time at Morning Glory over Memorial Day weekend. Lizz was excellent to work with and was quick to respond to all of our questions and requests. The cabin was perfect for our family, it was very clean and we enjoyed the brand new hot tub that was installed on the cool nights. We enjoyed the lake view through the large glass windows and enjoyed the yard with small stream running through, as well as the fire pit for smores with the kids. All in all, great stay and would definitely book again!
What a wonderful time we had as a family at this terrific home! There were 6 of us, all adults, and this house was perfect for us. Very neat and clean, beautiful comfy couches in family room, well stocked kitchen, and extra touches like hand soap already in the bathrooms. We enjoyed the view, as well as the hot tub. It was fairly close to Wisp ski resort, which worked well. Since it had snowed before our trip, there was plenty of gravel down on the roads to ease our drive up the hill to the home. We recommend this home for a wonderful getaway - and may come back in the summer some time, too!
My family and I just came back from Morning Glory and had a fabulous time. The cabin was much nicer than the pictures and everything was in perfect order and ready for a relaxing retreat. I was surprised that the Storch's thought of everything from great herbal tea, plenty of towels to the aluminum foil. We barbecued, took a walk went boating and enjoyed the hot tub. The kids played pool and watched movies so everyone was happy and we are planning to come back soon.
Our honest opinion. I will start with the positives. We rented the cabin for 4th of July family cookout. Cabin/house was very clean. Covered porch was nice to watch it rain, the clean hottub was nice for cool evenings and the stream was wonderful to sit and listen. We saw lots of deer,a red fox came hopping through one evening, chipmunks galore come right up in front of you on the deck, a snake that came out to sun itself on in front parking area and a raccoon trying to get into trash one night. They have a lot of kitchen tools for the average cook.Upstairs loft area was nice for kids to play. L.R. furniture very comfortable up & down.
Few things we felt like needed improved upon & just some details that we didn't know before hand. We were not happy with one bedroom situation on the main floor (picture is very deceiving on this one). The mattress was very flimsy and we felt like needed to be replaced.Springs were popped up in a couple areas.Silky/satiny sheets are not to our taste but I was glad another person in our group had brought her own so I mismatched until I had a half decent cotton fitted and top sheet. This particular bedroom was very tight which made maneuvering our luggage and travel items hard. The grill that we had counted on for our July 4th barbecue fell apart on the deck when someone walked by it. Called property manager and was asked to purchase a similar grill and send the receipt for reimbursement. We did purchase the same grill that we got as an incredible deal at Wal-Mart.My husband put it together and sent receipt to the property manager. Was thanked and told the check is coming, as of August 8 no reimbursement has come in the mail. Pool sticks are missing tips therefore no playing pool. The kitchen area needs some revamping so you have a place to store food.Would be nice if the swing that is underneath the deck was on the deck; tried sitting down there and the mosquitos was too bad.Internet was not connected for two days we thought due to storms, after calling property manager realized all the time had been used for the month (mentioned in details of house) they corrected this for us quickly. You absolutely cannot see the lake with leaves on the trees-so do not get your hopes up on that. The house is on a graveled steep road & our car dragged in some areas, not a paved road.If you like big towels and plenty of them take your own & your own sheets too. Had to do laundry a couple of times to make it through week.Grass was too high.
Morning Glory has a very nice view of the Lake, and is located on the mountain to your right directly after you cross the 219 bridge so it's minutes away from all the shopping and restaurants in the area, as well as to WISP, State Parks and the Lake.
1. Check out the many activities at WISP: skiing, mountain coaster, snow tubing, and snow mobiles.
2. Swallow Falls is an excellent place for adults and children for hiking through the mountains and seeing the gorgeous waterfalls! This is my favorite place to go at the Lake and a must see. If you do go, take your camera!
3. Smiley's on Fort Drive off of Route 219 McHenry -301-387-0059 - has an Arcade and go-Kart track and mini-golf. That is also about 5-10 minutes away from the cabin. My children love to go there.
4. Restaurants. We always go to Uno's at least once while visiting the Lake. It is a fun, relaxing atmosphere with good food!
If you'd like something quieter, my parents love the Cornish Manor in Oakland, which is only about 7 miles away. The restaurant is set in a Victorian that dates back to 1868.
Additional Lunch/Dinner Spots: The Black Bear Tavern, Santa Fe Grill, and Pine Lodge Steakhouse.
5. Bear Creek Traders – one of my absolute favorite shops as it has such a great variety of home, apparel, and Lake themed items and old-time candy selections.
6. There are also obviously wonderful water activities: take a pontoon boat cruise, rent jet skis and boats, take a fishing charter trip, fish off a pier in one of the State Parks, fly fish, kayak, etc. And of course, don't forget to relax on the public beach.
7. In addition, there are several outfitters that offer guided tours that provide information on Deep Creek's wildlife, including bears, otter and deer. And, All Earth Eco Tours offers hiking adventures with educational and recreational programs.
