The Wee White Cottage is a small, but very comfortable and very clean lake side cottage on the west side of Tripp Lake. The lake is literally steps outside the door! Great spot for fishing, kayaking, watching the loons, the eagles and herons. The sun rises directly across the lake, and the dock is a perfect spot for a cup of morning coffee. This is a studio arrangement with a lake view living area, a QUEEN size bed, pull out queen sofa, and a pull out twin bed, fully equipped eat in kitchen (no dishwasher), clean bathroom, with stand up shower. Suitable for a couple, or close friends. The cottage was recently painted and outfitted with an assortment of new and antique furnishings. It's very clean and very quiet.
Pontoon boat available for rent. Requires valid drivers license and additional liability release. 2 day rental minimum is $250. Subject to availability.
2 kayaks available for use. No charge.
Have lived in NH and played in Maine since 1976!
Owner/Manager purchased this cottage in 2004
Tripp Lake is a very special place for me and my family. The Wee White Cottage is set amongst tall pines, and family camps along the western shore. We own both the Wee White Cottage and a larger year round vacation home next door. We welcome guests that enjoy the peace and quite of a Maine lake.
Go to sleep in this cottage to the sounds of the loons. Wake up with the sun. Watch the moon rise from the dock. Kayak to sunset cove. Sip coffee on the new dock. Take a nap on the hammock. Swim in crystal clear waters. Check out the local farm markets, ice cream stands and antique stores.
We had a delightful stay at the cottage!
We were there during the week, and it was peaceful, quiet and private. However, it's worth noting that the neighbors on either side were not there during our stay.
Access to the lake was wonderful for swimming and kayaking. Two kayaks with paddles and lifevests were provided by the owners.
The lake is magnificent at dawn, throughout the day, and especially at the amazing sunsets we saw. There's abundant nature, and the call of the loons was a memorable experience.
The cottage interior was beautiful, cozy, and eclectic, and had what we needed to do some light cooking. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. There's plenty of linens and towels and a small hairdryer.
Bring your provisions on the way in, as the nearest store is a few miles away. There are good restaurants within an easy drive. The owners were helpful with information, and available for any questions. We were very happy with our stay, and highly recommend it.
The cottage, property, and owners were amazing...the view is unbeatable, not only from outside, but inside too - the sunset framed by the beautiful arched doorway is stunning. And the stars, mirrored by the lake, are breathtaking. We had an issue with the first property we rented, and we weren't able to stay. These property owners made accommodations for us to come that next day, on short notice. And the property exceeded all expectations. Our dogs also had a amazing time!!! Thank you so much for everything!!! We can't wait to come back :)
We enjoyed our stay at the Wee White Cottage from the very first second! The cottage is even better than on the pictures. It's just a few steps from the water and to take the kajaks out on the lake was an absolute delight! Also a couple of rainy days could not dampen our mood!
Thank you, Dorothea, for this wonderful experience!
We spent a long weekend at the Wee White Cottage (very appropriately named), and enjoyed every minute! This is a perfectly serene, character-filled little cottage with an open floor plan and plenty of windows from which to see the BEAUTIFUL lake, ducks, loons, and fall folage from a cozy sofa with a warm cup of coffee in hand. The cottage is truly only minutes from the shore of the lake, with a sturdy dock perfect for getting a fantastic view of the starring sky and wonderful moon each night! I would highly recommend this plan to anyone interested in a refreshing, relaxing, clean, private little getaway cottage. The cottage itself is charmingly decorated, well-heated, and equipped for any sort of cooking you should hope to do, complete with a lobster pot. Enjoy!
We enjoyed a lovely week on Tripp Lake in this adorable little cottage. The option of using the pontoon and kayaks made it more attractive to us. We were able to view an eagle and loons and watch the sunset over the hills from the middle of the lake. We love to cook and found the kitchen to be quite adequate, nearby vegetable markets, and the gas grill a bonus. We enjoyed the peace and quiet with the option of driving to Portland for a dinner out. Beginning our mornings with coffee by the still lake were wonderful. We would recommend to friends and rent here again!
We had a beautiful week! This is a great spot if you are looking for an easy get away. The lake was gorgeous and it is close enough to take a day trip to Portland. Kayaking on the lake was the best part of the week!
When visiting this area you will enjoy checking out the small villages of Norway and South Paris. Each have lovely cafes, restaurants, museums, and gardens. There's a great kayaking spot near Poland if you want to take an - off lake trip. You put-in near the town garage and float to middle Range Pond, where there are eagle's nests and incredible fishing. We have seen turtles lined up 10 deep on a log, loons right next to the kayak and many shore birds. There is also a nice beach for swimming. Other must do items is take a day trip to the coast of Maine, just 30 minutes away. Pick from Freeport or head to down town Portland and take a ferry to the prettiest little island - Peak's Island. Great for sightseeing, biking (you can rent on the island), museums, great lunches. Only a 15 minute ferry ride. Call me for more info about the area, we are happy to help you plan your vacation.
