Why Dot Seybold chose Poland

Tripp Lake is a very special place for our family. The Wee White Cottage is set among tall pines, and family camps along the western shore. We own both the Wee White Cottage and a larger year round vacation home next door. We welcome guests that enjoy the peace and quite of a Maine lake.

What makes this cottage unique

Go to sleep in this cottage to the sounds of the loons. Wake up with the sun. Watch the moon rise from the dock. Kayak to sunset cove. Sip coffee on the new dock. Take a nap on the hammock. Swim in crystal clear waters. Check out the local farm markets, ice cream stands and antique stores.

This is the perfect spot to get away. Quiet, private, cozy and calm. Very important to note that this is a very small cottage in a neighborhood of summer cottages. We also own and frequently use the lake house located next door. Friendly neighbors, dead end road, very quiet. There are limited amenities but the cottage is clean and well maintained, private. There is no air conditioning, but there are fans. There is a small flat screen TV, but there is no cable service so it is used only for playing DVD's or you can hook it up to your computer for internet movies. Free WIFI. There is a dock for swimming or fishing. Easy access to lake. Call if you have specific needs or questions about the cottage or the area. There is an older pontoon boat available for rent. You must arrange for use of the pontoon prior to check in and there are additional fees and waivers that must be signed before use.

Beautiful peaceful spot to unplug and de-stress

  • 5 of 5

We had a gorgeous five days at the wee white cottage and wish we didn't have to leave! Location could not be nicer - views of lake from inside the cottage are amazing, there's a constant fresh breeze, and you're just a few steps from comfortable outdoor seating and the dock. Weather was on the warm side but the breeze was always cool and we loved sleeping with open windows every night! We kayaked on the lovely lake, enjoyed cooking on both the campfire and very nice gas grill, and spent a whole lot of time just watching the water, ducks, chipmunks, birds, and even a heron. For me the lack of mosquitoes was a particularly nice bonus! We only left a couple of times for some delish local food - Nezinscot farm for an AWESOME breakfast and baked goods plus cute farm cat - but honestly we didn't want to move too far from the peaceful lake view. Bed is super comfy, tap water is so good, hot water is abundant and you have everything you need to be very comfortable but also enjoy the outdoors. If you are fussy about cookware - like you love your nice pans or great knives - maybe bring a couple of essentials as everything is provided but well used. Neighbors are pretty close but the cottage yard and dock are set up so that you still feel fairly private. Overall it was the ultimate unplug-from-city-life experience and we were so thankful for our time there and we would definitely come back!

The cottage was a true classic lakeside cottage and only steps from the lake. The cottage was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The owner was helpful and responsive. Having kayaks available was a nice perk. Hearing the loons one evening was magical!

Wonderful Maine cottage with beautiful views of Tripp Lake.

The cottage was charming and right on the water. We had our own dock which was a perfect place to watch the sunrise and the loons. We would stay here again! Owners were very friendly.

25th Wedding Anniversary trip

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay at the Wee White Cottage. We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Our thanks to Dorthea she was a pleasure to deal with and was very attentive, nice letter for us on the table when we got there with info. One item we especially enjoyed was the old cemetery in the area, great history and saw among others someone who fought in the war of 1812. The cottage was as described and location was great for us to travel for day trips to Portland, Salem Mass., and the White Mountains. Also enjoyed greatly the property and lake, we kayaked, fished, sat lakeside and watched the loons. Overall great experience!

When visiting this area you will enjoy checking out the small villages of Norway and South Paris. Each have lovely cafes, restaurants, museums, and gardens. There's a great kayaking spot near Poland if you want to take an - off lake trip. You put-in near the town garage and float to middle Range Pond, where there are eagle's nests and incredible fishing. We have seen turtles lined up 10 deep on a log, loons right next to the kayak and many shore birds. There is also a nice beach for swimming. Other must do items is take a day trip to the coast of Maine, just 30 minutes away. Pick from Freeport or head to down town Portland and take a ferry to the prettiest little island - Peak's Island. Great for sightseeing, biking (you can rent on the island), museums, great lunches. Only a 15 minute ferry ride. more info about the area, we are happy to help you plan your vacation.
