Gary Olsen purchased this house in 1967
My family selected this mountaintop for a home site. I believe it represents the very best location in the area.
The unique combination of the home itself and the location. Just a short drive from New York it offers a true New England experience.
Spent the most quietest beautiful weekend in this very spacious home with my family. The property is peacefully breathtaking. The nearby restaurants and towns are picture perfect. Highly recommend this area and home to anyone and everyone. Whether you are a home body or love the outdoors, this home away from home is a perfect choice for all.
We spent a wonderful weekend in the historic Northwest Corner of Connecticut.
The house is nestled in a rustic spot with most every window looking out onto thick woods. The house has four bedrooms, a big family room, dining room, kitchen and two full bathrooms. It was the perfect house for my wife and I, three grown children and two active grandchildren to be together. The photographs on Home Away proved to be accurate. However, there is spaciousness to the front living room that we couldn’t appreciate from the photo. For homebodies, the living room is as extremely comfortable, with a wrap around sofa set that I melted into. As someone who likes it toasty in the winter, we had full control over the thermostat.
The biggest bonus to our stay: A stunningly beautiful hilltop vista a short walk from the house. From this vantage point you can see many miles into New York State and the Taconic Ridge. The entire property is essentially surrounded by forest. For hikers the house has easy access to both the Appalachian Trail and the Mohawk Trail. For skiers, Mohawk Mountain is only a short distance away. In the village of Sharon, the small grocery store was surprisingly well stocked, with a strong Korean food section and thriving deli and sushi sections.
I would encourage anyone looking for a clean, cozy and inviting home away from home - this is the place for you.
