The XENIA, (hospitality in Greek) is the perfect retreat. Just pack a few things and go. We take care of all the rest. Have an unforgettable stay!!!
Our group of 11 had a great time! The house had everything we were looking for (firepit, hot tub and grill). Everything was as described. The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because there were not enough trash bags in the house (especially made clean up difficult, since we had to throw out our own trash or the owners charge an extra trash take out fee). Also there was no dishwasher soap, only normal dish soap which you can't use in the dishwasher. Besides those two points, everything else was great!
We had a great time! Super friendly and very quick to respond with any questions and concerns we had. Loved the location and the views were amazing! Thanks so much for an awesome weej
Everything was as described. Everyone slept comfortably. The house is spacious and the area is beautiful. Basketball was no longer functional but no biggie with the huge and well maintained yard as well as the the pool and ping pong tables. Would def. stay here again!
The house is very well-kept with multiple beds for comfort for everyone. The property is very spacious and the stars at night are so beautiful, would definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a weekend getaway.
We could not have been any happier with our time at The Xenia - the house was perfect for a big party, sleeping 14 adults comfortably. The amenities were all impeccable, and the yard was enormous! The property is super convenient to town and the Windham resort (we went in the summer, so no skiing for us, but if you're looking for a ski house, The Xenia should be at the top of your list!).
Last, but certainly not least, Roula and Chris were fantastic leading up to and during our stay, answering emails within minutes. Overall, the experience was top notch, and I would highly recommend The Xenia to anyone looking for a rental in Windham.
The property was terrific, and we really loved Windham. Our party of 7, ranging in age from 6 to 77 had a terrific stay over the 4th of July. The house was comfortable and luxurious, with a well stocked kitchen, nice bedrooms, a cool backyard, and a great game room. Windham is a charming little town with nice restaurants and shops, and there was a good supermarket 6 miles from Windham. The owners were very responsive to all my questions during our stay. However, my average rating of the property is due to some bait and switch factors that I feel could have been communicated more effectively by the owners.
1) They advertise this property on VRBO as good for pets. However, this is a conditional allowance that we didn't truly understand until the night before checking in. As it turns out, dogs are allowed, but not on the main living floor or the bedrooms. Only in the ski room and the game room in the basement. So if you're dogs get anxious when they're not allowed to be with the humans, it's not necessarily a dog friendly place.
2) This condition was communicated to us by the owners, but in my opinion, not effectively. After we reserved on VRBO, the owner sent me an email explaining the gameroom/ski room restriction. The significance didn't quite sink in at first, and of course it was advertised as pets allowed on VRBO. I sent payment and got a confirmation with a boilerplate contract via email. I emailed back inquiring if I needed to sign this contract or if it was just a template included in their confirmations. No reply. Several months passed, and then on the evening of our stay, I got an email from the owners with a contract and asking for my electronic signature. I reviewed the contract and noticed that there was a "No Pets Allowed" clause. This confused me, and I'd long since forgotten about the email explanation from the owners regarding the gameroom/ski room restriction. Upon inquiring, the owner provided me with a reminder that she'd explained this from the beginning, that many of her guests were allergic to dogs, etc. In the end, we worked through it, but given the VRBO 'pets welcome' rating, the contract signature request on the eve of our stay, and the increasingly vocal explanation from the owners after it was too late for us to change plans, I certainly felt like this was a bait and switch, and I was put out.
