Very Rustic..For the Price

  • 3 of 5

I read a lot of positive reviews for this cabin. Many are 5 stars. That is one of the reasons I booked it. It is priced fairly-well. I am not sure of the hotel prices in Big Fork but, I am assuming they are pretty pricey with how touristy the town is. That being said, I think that is why this cabin is a good deal. In Los Angeles, I can get a basic hotel room for about the same price so I was expecting the same vibe.

I will start off with the positives.

1) Owners very communicative

2) The cabin is very clean.

3) Lots of amenities for the guests, including a fully stocked kitchen with dishes and coffee pot. And coffee! Very nice.

4) Wifi and TV were a win win.

Negatives:

1) Right off the bat, the cabin smells like an ashtray. Not like the kind of smokey smell left after someone smoked a few butts in there but, rather someone smoked in the cabin for years and the smell has permeated the walls. I was very bummed about this. I am 8 months pregnant and it made me nauseated. I was surprised that no other renters mentioned it and because it says it is a non-smoking cabin.

2) The cabin has concrete floors and a tin roof. No central air. No heat. Not that bad but during my stay, there was a thunderstorm. I came back to the cabin to find the roof leaking and my suitcase wet. Not cool. The roof definitely needs patching.

3) The mattress is very "slept in". Like, you sink to the middle.

4) Tub and shower are super old-school. The pipes are on the outside of the wall so I had to make sure to not let my 4yo son get burned on the hot pipes while taking a bath.

5) This is not super important..and the owners were very nice to offer me directions to the cabin but failed to leave the physical address. We are from CA and were driving from Bonner so we were not sure which direction we were going and did spend some time driving back and forth looking for the cabin. Cell reception was pretty shotty all over MT, so I was not able to get back to them with questions. I did end up finding the address on my GPS after some digging.

All and all, I think this is a good rental for some people. But, I think these things should be out there and noted for visitors. Also, I do think the cabin should be lower in price considering the upgrades it needs. But, it has lots of homey touches and you can tell that care has gone into making it a nice place to stay.

We were looking for a rustic, lake cabin feel, and Wildflower had that. Chad was really nice .

  • 5 of 5

I was familiar with the street from when my family rented a cabin there in the 70's, so this cabin brought back nice memories. I loved the wild roses growing in the back. It was also super convenient to the East Shore as well as Bigfork and Kalispell.

Loved our stay

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is in a lovely spot, and is just as pictured. Located close to Bigfork, we toured the town and were able to come back to a serene little cabin with all the amenities we needed. Coffee was provided and quite good. We would definitely consider renting with Chad and Rhonda again!

Quaint cabin for 2, great location

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at the Wildflower cabin. We loved eating breakfast on the porch each morning. The kitchen space was just right, with fridge, small freezer, toaster, microwave, and electric stove. Smart TV was great for late night movies - but if you don't have a Netflix, etc. account, you won't be able to watch tv (no cable). But they do have dvds available! Bathroom is very small, with tub (shower head coming from ceiling over the tub) toilet and sink, but gets the job done. Bed was comfortable. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a small space in Bigfork!

Bigfork Summer Gem

  • 4 of 5

Wildflower Cabin was just right for our 6 night stay and was in the perfect location to enjoy the town of Bigfork, Flathead Lake and all the nearby attractions. The cabin is rustic, and may not be the place for those who require 5-star accommodations, but is well equipped for a relaxing stay at an affordable price. Chad & Rhonda are friendly and attentive hosts. Everything was clean and ready for us upon arrival.

We enjoyed walking along the road for morning or evening walks and relaxing on the little porch while our puppy played on the lawn. It was a special treat when Chad offered us the opportunity to pick yummy raspberries from the bush behind the cabin.

Thanks, Chad & Rhonda, for an enjoyable stay in your little Wildflower (raspberry) gem.
