About Marcy and Ken

Recently retired and now living permanently in the Black Hills.

Marcy and Ken purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Marcy and Ken chose Black Hills

In 2005 my husband and I were looking for a place in the Black Hills for when we were able to retire that was centrally located to all that the Hills have to offer. We built this cabin and used it for our many vacations to the Black Hills. Being adjacent to the national forest we have enjoyed many beautiful hikes and abundant wildlife just outside our door way. Since we recently completed the building of our permanent home we are now able to share this piece of heaven with others.

What makes this cabin unique

Black Hills National Forest 100' from the cabin. Deer and turkey stop by for a visit.

Guestbook comments from the owner

From our guest book:

The cabin was a bonus on our stay! You guys thought of everything a person needed. Really enjoyed the morning view with coffee. Seeing the wildlife was relaxing. The cabin was cozy, our family was very relaxed when we walked in! The board games were a plus. A very peaceful and enjoyable stay. We will come back again and recommend anyone to stay. The weekend was just not enough time. Thanks you guys

Peaceful Haven

  • 5 of 5

We've just spent a delightful week at Ken & Marcy's 'cabin'....more like a true 'home away from home'. They take great pride in their place and it shows. Everything was spotlessly clean, everything one could need was provided. Ken greeted us warmly and kept in touch throughout our stay to make sure everything was going smoothly. We especially enjoyed the peaceful, calm beauty of the area with a lovely view of the adjacent Black Hills National Forest lands, spectacular Custer sunsets, morning visits of deer and wild turkeys, and use of the gas BBQ. It's a wonderful place to come back to after a long day of seeing the sights, hiking and fishing. We cannot recommend Ken & Marcy's place highly enough. We loved it.

Fantastic cabin in the Black Hills

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at this lovely cabin in the Black Hills. The cabin had everything the two of us needed and was extremely clean. We didn't spend a lot of time at the cabin as we were exploring everything around us from morning until dark. Ken and Marcie were able to catch us one morning on our way out and they are so nice and gracious. I would highly recommend this gem in the Black Hills it was a great base camp to visit Custer Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Badlands, and the Neeldes Highway. If we are ever in the area again this cabin will be our first choice.

Lovely cabin - perfect location

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is in a perfect location for all the sightseeing of the Black Hills. We saw turkeys and deer just outside the home everyday. We had everything we needed and Ken stopped by to ask if we needed anything.

The property does not have a dryer but we had a clothes line to dry our clothes. We hung them out before we went on our adventure for the day and by the time we returned they were dry. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Home way from hom

  • 5 of 5

Perfect accommodations for a couple. Everything as depicted in HomeAway. Great location to tour the Black Hills. Best part - quiet get-away from the crowds of the small towns which are bustling with tourists. For bicyclists, just four miles from one of the best rail-to-trails projects - the Mickelson Trail. Our host was very friendly, too.

Amazing Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do justice, this cabin was so cute and very clean. The beds were soft and comfortable. It's centrally located, we were able to see 2 caves, Mt Rushmore and Custer park. We will try to return and have already shared the link with friends!

Great home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time staying here, and we love this home! Great location that's close to parks and attractions. They have available everything you need and then some for kitchen equipment. We loved sitting on the patio and listen to the wildlife around. Having a handicap accessible shower was an important feature for us. Laundry appliances is a bonus for us as we can do laundry before going home if need/want. This is the only place we will stay and arrange our trip around availability.
