We have owned this house for many years. Our family of 4 kids and 7 grand kids have spent many great weeks at the 'Seminole Shack'
The Owner purchased this house in 1999
Perfect location close to everythings you need.
Two separate units!! Upstairs which will be owner occupied and downstairs connected by covered outside stairs.
First of all, this is not to bash the property owners who were very polite & easy to work with. This review is strictly about the negitive experience I had with my family while staying here. As soon as we entered the downstairs when we arrived there was an unsettling oder. A strong smell of mildew. Upon farther inspection I noticed discoloration of the carpet, getting up close I could tell it was black mold & it ran through the entire downstairs. I also noticed mold on the seal of the refrigerator, which I cleaned myself. However, there was nothing we could do about the carpet except to cover the smell with the febreez that was left out for us. This still was hard to bear. My wife & I decided that we would spend most of our vacation away from this place so we didnt have to breathe the toxic air. Even when we did get back in the evening, it was difficult to sleep due to the smell. Also, there is a refrigerator at the foot of the bed that reads "do not open" "do not unplug" as if this is a place to store your frozen goods while renters pay good money to stay here. Refrigerator at the foot of the bed, not accomadating. So needless to say my wife, son & I did not get to sleep much on this trip. One thing that took the cake above the moldy carpet is that when doing the cleaning checklist, prior to leaving & stripping the bedsheets to wash. When I took off the pillowcases ALL of the pillows had multiple stains on them...COVERED in stains! Drool, pee, feces, I have no idea but it was disgusting! And to think we slept on these for 4 nights! Then the "clean" sheets that were laid out to replace theose we were washing with were also covered in stains. The place needs a good mold removal service, air inspection, new carpets, maybe new floors, new sheets/blankets/pillows, updated funiture/appliances. Get rid of the VCR & old t.v.'s, remove all personal items (especially the fridge at the foot of the bed) & it would be nice if the windows weren't boarded up. Again, this is our experience. Deal or not with this place I paid good money & expected the place to be more inviting, or at least not a hazard to our health! I will be spending a little more per night in the future to make sure I don't have to put my family through something like this again. Alan & Jolynn are both very nice & gave us our refundable cleaning deposit back the day we checked out, very easy to work with. Still, I do not reccomend this place. HEALTH HAZARD! Not worth it.
Owner was very accommodating! Thank you for everything, we had a great stay.
Loved the location! Just a short walk away from the beach but a nice quiet neighborhood. It was great having the beach chairs and toys available for use, as well as the grill. Friendly neighbors. With small children, it's nice not to have to worry as much about the amount of noise they can generate like you do in hotel rooms. It's great having a kitchen there too!
We had a big family vacation and this spot was perfect.
Seminole Shack was perfect for our multifamily vacation. Plenty of room and only a block to the beach. Would recommend for a relaxing vacation expecially if you have kids a very home like feeling. Can't wait to stay again.
My family, my mom, my sister's family and my brother's family all stayed a week here. There was plenty of room for all of us. We had a wonderful time! The house is close to the beach which was a huge plus for us and the fact that there are beach toys in the shed is great! Alan was super easy to contact and work with. I would definitely return and recommend Panama City Beach and the Seminole Shack!
