About Cyndi and Mark Burgunder

We built the cabin.

Cyndi and Mark Burgunder purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Cyndi and Mark Burgunder chose Alta Sierra

We took an alternate route home from dropping our son off at Jameson Ranch Camp in Glennville, CA. Looking at the map, we wanted to explore this lake, Lake Isabella. We had never heard of it. Imagine our surprise as we came over Greenhorn Summit on our way down to the lake when we saw For Sale signs. How could private property be available in the heart of the Sierra National Forest? After much research and looking nationwide for a vacation home, we decided that this was the place. Beautiful and relaxing yet unending opportunities for recreation and leisure activities. Whitewater Rafting, Lake Isabella boating, fishing, jetskiing, windsurfing as well as Off road trails, hiking, ATV exploring, snow mobiling, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, sledding, hiking, and even a public golf course about 9 miles in Kernville.

What makes this cabin unique

rafting, mountain biking, hiking, geocaching, skiing, snowshoeing, RELAXing and drinking a cool drink or a hot toddy. Must be 26years of age or older to rent.

Beautiful cabin with spectacular surroundings

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect. More than what I had imagined. It was a great fit for our family of 7. The use of space is ingenious, small yet everything you need is right where you need it. The top sleeping area with the bunk beds and the pool table was a great hit for all of us! Being able to go out in the snow and have a great time, then come home to this warm cabin was amazing! My husband and kids loved that although it was freezing outside they still got to enjoy the jacuzzi, definitely a first for us! All my kids fell in love with this place and so did I. They already asked if we can come every year, and I'm thinking we have just started a family tradition!

Cyndi always answered the many questions I had. The response time was fast. I am so thankful that Cyndi and Mark took the time to make this home away from home such a cozy place!!

It was great!!

  • 5 of 5

We came here to visit my Dad who lives in Mt Mesa and spent the 4th of July week. We had an awesome stay!! This place is amazing, had everything we needed, and was so peaceful and comfortable! My Dad said it was the nicest place he’s laid his head in over 40 years, and really enjoyed it while visiting my husband and I and his grandkids. The hot tub and pool table were great bonuses to an already great cabin. I love that my Dad could bring his service dog too. We would definitely stay at the cabin again! Lake Isabella had a cool firework show over the lake that Saturday. We went and visited trail of 100 giants while here, and the kern river, which was beautiful! The owners are so nice and quickly responded to all emails before and after our arrival. We loved everything about this vacation! Thanks again!

Terrific, and as advertised

  • 5 of 5

Cyndi and Mark's Alta Sierra property is exactly what the descriptions claim, and I mean that in the best sense. My only concern on arriving was that the house is on the "main" road, but there's so little traffic, it might as well have been in the middle of the Yukon for all the noise we heard. Everything works, and the kitchen is exceptionally well stocked (I have never seen so many cookie sheets in a rental, or really anywhere outside of a bakery). The beds are comfortable. The summer temperatures are perfect, especially after long days exploring the hot Kern River valley, and the sound of the wind through the pines, spruce and red cedar (including the one growing like a column up through the back deck) is divine. We hope to return to the Kern Valley in future, and when we do, checking this property for availability will be step one.

Amazing property!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our 4 night stay at this house! Less than 20 minutes up the hill from lake Isabella, we were able to enjoy the days by the lake/river and come home to make a nice meal. Propane was included with the barbecue which was a nice surprise, hot tub worked perfectly, deck was super nice for eating dinner and enjoying the beautiful summer weather. We can’t say enough great things and can’t wait to make a return trip! The hosts were very accommodating as well :) Thank you Mark and Cyndi!
