The cabin features a hot rainwater shower and sink; solar electricity for the lights, and a wood-burning stove. You'll find a propane cook stove inside and a barbecue grill (propane) outside. Named Mountain Laurel, the cabin is situated at the top of a hill, with beautiful shade trees, cool breezes and a great view of the pine woods. It features a queen size bed in the main living area and a full size bed in the loft. A dining area is on the main floor along with a wood burning stove with a screen that can function as a fireplace. Experience cool breezes all summer long on the full-size porch. About owners/property manager

After building tree forts in the woods behind his house as a young boy, my husband Rick decided one day he would build his own cabin. Mountain Laurel is the result of this dream. Hand built from the trees on the property, the cabin is situated privately on 50 acres of pine woods.

owners/property manager purchased this cabin in 2010

Why owners/property manager chose Lowville

We loved this property as soon as we saw it. The sweet smell of pine greets you and the soft moss on the ground makes hiking on the property ideal.

What makes this cabin unique

Situated privately on fifty acres of pine woods, with your own spot of peaceful quiet, the cabin is unique. From the porch you can sip tea or coffee and listen to the birds greet the morning. From the balcony, you can see for ten miles. If it's a quiet get-away you're looking for, you've found it!

Third time back, it seems to get better every time!

  • 5 of 5

Rick & Maria continue to go over and above to make sure everything is perfect. If you're lucky you might get to catch them while they're up working on the property, delightful folks with great conversation and stories to share! The peace and quiet at Kings Pines rejuvenates the sole. For first time lookers, while the property has ample opportunity for walks in the woods, you're also close to many of the trail networks of some of the most beautiful wilderness in the northeast. The property is also extremely dog friendly, if you have a pup that likes to roam and chase after things this is your spot. If you're looking to venture out for a bite or a day on the town there's also a lot of options within 20-30min that are well worth the ride.

Sincerely,

Marc, Kelly, Rocky and Champ

A Great Place Owned By Great People!

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived at the cabin it immediately felt like home. There was a cozy fire sizzling in the wood stove and we were greeted by a thoughtful welcome treat on the table. Every time when we thought "I wish there was a _____!" we turned around and found exactly what we needed to make our stay comfortable. The cabin itself is very well laid out. We especially enjoyed watching birds out of one of the many windows while eating breakfast. What a great way to start the day! The loft is very cozy and we enjoyed a great view from the balcony. The little kitchen corner provided everything we needed to prepare our meals and the wood stove kept us warm the whole time. The bathroom was very clean and even though it is located a couple feet away from the cabin we were able to heat it up quickly with a wall mounted heater. The room also provided a sink with running water. Another wonderful piece of luxury was the rainwater shower. We used it several times to take hot showers, which were especially welcome in the single digit temperatures we experienced.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Rick, who impressed us with his warm, welcoming demeanor and gave a nice history of the area while showing us his cabins. We enjoyed his company so much that we ended up visiting him every day! The stay at The Kings Pine was very memorable and we loved it so much that we are already planning to come back soon. It is a beautiful, peaceful, and quiet place that offers a unique nature experience with all the accommodations we needed to make it a very comfortable stay. My husband told me that he always read about those people who do great things and that he thinks we just met one of those people. I agree with him. The Kings Pines is a very special place which was built and is kept by great people!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Vanessa and Matt for the beautiful review. We enjoyed having you stay at the cabin (even though we would never know you were there because you left it so neat and clean). Rick loved meeting you and I am looking forward to meeting you on your next stay. We have met many wonderful people that stay at our cabin - we consider the both of you right up there at the top!

Nature calls

This cabin is great for those who love the outdoors. Rick and Maria have done a great job building this cabin and setting up the off grid solar and rainwater systems. We enjoyed meeting Rick and getting to tour the whole property. Maria was thorough in her descriptions of both the property and surrounding area.

Beautiful, remote, peaceful, quiet, clean, rustic

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I come from Rochester, NY. When my father decided to celebrate his 60th birthday up in the Adirondacks, my husband and I decided we should get a cabin there for a weekend alone in the woods. It was wonderful, beautiful, very remote and quiet and clean. We had no trouble finding the place thanks to the excellent directions provided, and there were lots to things to do and places explore around the area. We wound up checking out the Lowville cream cheese festival, driving out to Watertown zoo, and hanging out around the area by our cabin - just eating and relaxing. We celebrated my father's birthday in Lowville as well, at a lovely winery. The sun was shining the entire time. It was a great experience and we're thinking we'll likely make it an annual thing.

For anybody else thinking of renting this terrific cabin, just know that it's quite rustic. There's an outhouse and a downstairs shower that's heated rainwater. Again, everything was very cozy and clean, and it really was a great escape from the city. I definitely recommend this place 100%

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Lindsay for the wonderful review. As we built the cabin ourselves, it really means a lot to us to receive such a 5 star review as yours. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay. We're glad you appreciated the rainwater shower. For anyone who is frightened by the term outhouse, we'd like to explain it's neat and clean, has running water in the sink and the toilet is a deep well design. It is located in a small building a few yards from the cabin and has a sturdy door with a lock on it. Just wanted to clarify that for anyone reading the review. Rick & Maria

Location

There are many lakes a short distance drive from us for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming. In the winter Snow Ridge Ski Resort is known for the first snow of the season in NY. It's 25 minutes away from us. For snowmobilers, we are in a wonderful secluded location. You can ride through the mountains to Stillwater, Old Forge and Tug Hill.
