Our Hood River home is right downtown. We bought this 1905 home for its ideal location and charm. It's an easy two minute stroll to shops, cafes, breweries, wine bars and galleries. And of course, the immediate access to world class windsurfing/kiting, skiing, mountain/road biking, skateboarding, kayaking, rafting, fishing, hiking, climbing, hunting and fruit picking.
The house has four bedrooms (3 up, 1 down) with super-comfy memory foam mattresses to ensure a great rest; a comfortable living-room with some river/mountain views; a fully stocked kitchen and a large fenced-in patio for outdoor lounging and dining.
Keywords: Downtown Hood River. A two block stroll to shopping, food & libation. Three minutes to the Waterfront Park for windsurfing.
We are a family of 4, mom dad and two teen girls; avid windsurfers who live in Portland. We enjoy sharing our home and the fun of HR with friends and guests.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
We love the Gorge. We bought our home in Hood River after years of Gorge van camping. With two kids we wanted a bit more 'civilized' and we saw this place said: we could enjoy this home for the rest of our lives. And that's our plan. Been windsurfing since 1978, still out on 3.0 days and hoping to be till at least 2038!
First, Hood River is a fantastic place to be. This community has friendly, energetic and caring people; amazingly rugged beauty; tons of activities and sports to enjoy; and its sunny a lot more than Portland! Second, our home is well located right in the village; in the middle of town, easy to walk around and yet quiet. Third, its a great old home- a comfortable place to kick back and enjoy a vacation.
We had such a great time at your place last week...thanks so much for accommodating us! The kids loved the yard and eating at the little bistro table and we all really enjoyed being able to walk into town. I hope you get to enjoy that great house sometime soon!
My only complaint were the plugs for lamps and I phone/computers. They were too loose and kept falling out.
Super close and walking distance to everything! The owner was awesome about helping us find things to do and lax about early check in and late check out which was needed. If you are bringing dogs be aware the whole house is hardwood floors and puppy paws make a lot of noise. Other than that it was a great weekend away with friends and I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
We had a wonderful weekend at this house. Plenty of room, great location, and so nice to have a backyard space! Definitely recommend, especially for a large group.
Location was key --walk to everything shops, restaurants , pubs and the downtown area. You really need a car for the supermarket and other sight seeing beyond Hood River.
The place was very well stocked with all those supplies you either forgot or run out of while on vacation.
Though probably built in the 30s is very clean and laid out well for large families with children to teens. All sorts of supplied board games, DVDs, crayons and coloring books, even a small table setup for younger ones.
Kitchen was well equipped, and even down to some staples leftover from previous renters were helpful i.e. maple syrup, mustard, ketchup, etc. The outside seating/BBQ grill lent itself to make a great conversation area for all around the large patio table.
All the beds were quite comfortable memory foam mattresses on each.
One issue here, due to the era when it was built with folks were "smaller/thinner" is the upstairs bath. One needs some personal contorting to get fully wet in the shower. -- Main bath 1st floor usual tub with shower config. is fine.
Only other point and it may have been corrected since we were there is the street-side front exterior appearance needs paint and sprucing up , but upon entering you'll see how inviting and clean the home is. The yard needs some TLC as well with raking out dead leaves and some water on the grass. A very different appearance than the pictures on the VRBO site. All in all, a great house for a vacation.
This house is very close to town and walkable to everything great in Hood River. It's an older home but still quite comfortable. Mitch was very easy to work with and we had an enjoyable stay. Would definitely rent again. Upstairs bed that I slept in was comfy.
My husband and I had a great time in Hood River for 3 days staying at this wonderful home. As others have said, the location was perfect. We walked to town for coffee and dinner and enjoyed walking around the neighborhood checking out the other wonderful homes. It was also great that we could bring our dog. I hope to come back soon.
