About Inder or Jane Cheema
We are Jane and Inder Cheema. Retired from ExxonMobil in 2000, which is when we established permanent residency on Southport in a home that we have had since 1978. We both immigrated to the US, Jane from Canada, and Inder from Kashmir, India, so Southport is special to us...it was our anchor during the many years of living and working overseas, and is now a summer base for children and grandchildren, and our year round home.
Inder or Jane Cheema purchased this House in 2000
Why Inder or Jane Cheema chose West Boothbay Harbor
Close to our home on Southport; sounded like a good retirement project, which it was and continues to be.
What makes this House unique
Away from the hustle and bustle of Boothbay Harbor, but close enough for convenient access if and when desired. Dock at property provides safe boating within protected Decker's cove, but also convenient access to a variety of adjoining interior and open ocean waterways.
This is a family oriented facility.
Minimum age of primary renter:18
Max guests:14 (sleeps up to 14 adults)
There is no security deposit nor a cleaning fee, therefore we ask our renters to leave the premises in a reasonably tidy and clean condition.
Items moved from one living area to another during a renters stay should be returned to their original locations before departure.
The BBQ,s should not be moved to lower levels, closer to the house, as the support structures are relatively fragile.
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
A wonderful stay
The house was perfect for our three families with 6 adults and six kids. The different units gave people a home base when they wanted some privacy and we used unit 1 for meals and a common living room. Being across the street from Robinson’s Wharf was perfect for food, drinks and ice cream.
Inder was quite responsive before and during. A terrific host.
We’d recommend without hesitation.
Perfect Family Vacation Home
We had such a great time staying at this home. The house was perfect for 5 couples with plenty of room to gather together and have privacy and space. The cove was great for kayaking and paddle boarding (Tidal Transit delivered and picked up). Our favorite Boothbay activities included Ocean Point, Maine Maritime Museum, Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, Hendricks Hill Museum and not to be missed, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. We loved our visit to Boothbay!
Thank you for your kind words, and also for commenting on things to do in the area, the latter being most useful for future renters. Inder
Great group house, great location
Had a fantastic week in the Coveside House. Was just as advertised. Don’t forget your bug spray though!
Wonderful crowd. Looks like they had lots of fun which is what we want and appreciate.
Wonderful extended family vacation
Everything was perfect! We loved our stay. Location great, Inder was great! Highly recommend this place for large family gathering.
These were simply lovely people, who were very easy to work and communicate with. Actually, the model renters that any renter would be overjoyed to have. I hope they come again. Inder
Amazing week in Boothbay Harbor
This home is absolutely perfect for a large family vacation. Boothbay is such a wonderful little town. Inder and Jane were available all week with any questions and had wonderful suggestions for fun things to do and see.
Home away from Home
This house with its unique set up made it seem like our home away from home ! We had a group of 6 which consisted of 2 couples and 2 singles. Each couple had our own apartment and each single had their own as well. We loved being able to go to our own "spaces " for some reading , quiet time and bed time. But we also gathered together in the largest front room and kitchen for some games and meals together. So much better than a motel / hotel ! Inder and Jane were great to explain everything and answer any questions. All of the locals were very friendly and helpful as well. The food and things to do recommendations from the Cheema's was spot on !
The restaurant across the road is a very short walk ( 2 minutes) from the house and has excellent food, good variety. Must go to Reid State Park and explore the beach on opposite side of 1/2 mile and mile beach. Botanical Gardens a must as well. Loved the shopping in Boothbay. The local general store is just a short drive from Coveside House and is a true gem. Home made food from breakfast to dinner and a huge wine room with a fantastic variety. We will becoming back to Coveside House on our next trip ! Thank you Inder and Jane for providing such a clean, convenient and unique getaway in a true piece of paradise :)
Southport is an island about 6 miles long and 2 miles across at its widest. Access is by means of a swing bridge which opens on the half hour for boat traffic. The serenity of this island setting is augmented by nearby Booth bay Harbor and its varied marine activities, restaurants, art galleries, shops, antique stores, live theater, movie theater, aquarium ,etc. For families with children the nearby beach at Hendricks Head is fun and picturesque.Biking enthusiasts have various possibilities on and of the island. Small boats, kayaks, and canoes can tie-up at our dock from where access to the open ocean and surrounding islands and waterways/coves is feasible and safe. There is much to be explored on the island...a quaint seaside church, the landing at Newagen and its bold ocean views, hiking trails, a historical museum, a town library, and a couple of picturesque harbors. Both formal and informal dining is within walking distance of the home.
Golf: A challenging and well maintained 18 hole golf course is within a 10 min. drive; includes golf school/academy .
