'At Fells Point' Top Side apartment is in the hip neighborhood of Fells Point in Baltimore's inner harbor. This inviting residence boasts historic architecture and natural character. Walk out the front door and access the waterfront stores, restaurants, pubs and downtown activities. The apartment is on multiple levels which gives it some amazing characteristic and charm. It is a one bedroom, 1.5 bath, with a roll away if needed. Full kitchen with all the amenities.
I personally restored the three vacation rentals that I offer through VRBO. It was important to me that they kept their original character and also had the quality to make the apartments luxurious and comfortable.
John Morgan purchased this apartment in 2005
I bought in Fells Point because it is where history mixes with the charm of downtown activities, pubs and restaurants.
This apartment is less than a mile to Johns Hopkins, the Inner Harbor, Stadium and Harbor East. Within a few blocks is the water taxi, accessing Fort McHenry and all other areas of the Baltimore Harbor. Also, within a few blocks is bus transportation and taxi's unlocking access to the MTA, Amtrack and BWI. When you stay At Fells Point or At Fells Point Top Side a car is not necessary to shop, conduct business, travel and enjoy your stay.
My husband, son, and I spent a lovely couple of days here over New Year's. It was very comfortable and, as others have mentioned, the pictures don't do it justice. It was larger than it appears in the pictures and it was incredibly clean. My biggest hesitation with booking a place through HomeAway or VRBO is always the cleanliness of the places. This was, by far, the cleanest place that we have ever stayed. The location is also ideal as we were able to walk everywhere very easily. We found parking right around the corner and didn't have to move the car the entire time we were there. We are looking forward to returning in the future.
We stayed at Topside for 3 nights in October 2016. It is in a great location in Fells Point, within walking distance of both Fells Point downtown area, the Inner Harbor and Little Italy. Excellent and clear communication with the owner. It is beautifully furnished. The kitchen has all the equipment needed to cook a meal, plus some basic supplies. (spices, coffee, tea bags, etc.) Toiletries were found in the bathroom. Steps were steep as is typical in a very old home, but it just added to the charm. This is a great place to stay. The only disadvantage was the street noise at night. There seemed to be no wall insulation at all. So just bring earplugs to eliminate the street noise and all will be well.
This townhouse was a lot of fun, we walked to everything from the Whole foods, the Aquarium, and all around the bay. Fells Point is a very young and hopping area, but we are older and still had a lot of fun. We had an amazing breakfast at the Blue Moon Cafe (Captain Crunch French Toast), I highly recommend it but it is small so get there early or expect a wait. There is an antique store a few doors down the street, that looks deceiving from the outside, it's a treasure trove inside. I recommend walking down different streets as you go places, you will find all sorts of quaint shops, bars and restaurants. We were not disappointed.
As other reviews stated, the stairs are steep, and parking is a pain - but the place is charming, well decorated, comfortable and very interesting. John was very helpful and efficient. He provides a list of parking options. The house is equipped with all of the essentials, and a few extras. The Direct TV and internet worked perfectly. I would definitely recommend this home to friends and family.
Thank you John - it was great!
I stayed at Topside for the month of Aug. It was perfect. Everything you need. Great place to walk everywhere( bars and restaurants) in Fells Point and the Inner Harbor. Only a few blocks from the water. I felt very safe at this location. I know other reviews talked about the stairs and they are "major steps" but they are totally doable, even for someone with double knee replacements. John was a great host. Always available for any questions or concerns. Very honest and fair. I would totally come back to this place. If you want a Fells Point/Canton experience this is the place.
This is a lovely home with beautiful antique furniture, wool rugs, and very well maintained. The owner was very accommodating of our needs. The linens on the bed were really nice, the bed was comfy, and the best feature was having the extra half bath down stairs. The unit is not immediately in front; you have to walk between two building and it's towards the back. It's right next to a tavern, so Saturday night was a tad noisy when people were walking to or from their cars. Parking can be challenging, but we managed to always find a slot. We would stay here again as it is very convenient to everything that you may need. There are lots of great restaurants, plus you can take the water taxi if you don't want to walk.
We recently stayed at the Topside apartment in Fells Point. The unit is in a great location with nearly everything in the Inner Harbor within walking distance. The unit is very comfortable and well equipped with everything you may need. The only 2 issues we would point out are the steep stairs up from street level to the main floor and from the main floor to the bedroom. If you have any issues with stairs, you want to find a different place to stay. The only other challenge was finding a place to park to unload luggage and then finding places to park where you would not get ticketed. If you move you car during your stay, depending on what time you return, parking can be quite challenging. Beware of the 2 hour parking areas as they will quickly ticket you if you stay much longer. The owner provides parking options in his rental package, but even with those options, parking is a challenge.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Topside.
Two blocks from the water front of Fells Point, less than two miles from the stadiums and within walking distance to markets, pubs, antique shops and restaurants.
