Bird watchers delight in this unique and tasteful homes. We are located 1.2 miles south of town center with a semiprivate beach 2 blocks away. Fully furnished and well appointed, our home offers a chance to experience the best of Sayulita. Close enough to enjoy the town, yet far enough away to avoid the noise. All of the homes in Villa Bali, were imported from Indonesia, and then painstakingly rebuilt in Sayulita. These antique (100+ year old) homes were modernized and then combined with other architectural items from around the world. Villa Bali #5 is the private home of the importers, designers and developers of the Villa Bali project, T.R. Lawrence and Linda O'Leary, who are also the owners of Nomads of Santa Fe. The Villa Bali project has a total of 6 homes in a small community on a private road. Safe, secure and serene. The 1 bedroom guest house has one queen bed, with one twin that substitutes as a couch, one bathroom, small kitchen, living and dining area. We have a property manager available to help you - we supply all linens, including beach towels and beach umbrellas, also have an outdoor BBQ. for grilling some big shrimp! This unique and tasteful home give you the chance to relax - wake up to the sounds of the jungle birds, enjoy the semi private beach with a good book and binoculars to see the whales jumping, and yet we have free internet to keep you connected to your other world.
Linda and T.R. were in the neighboring cottage during our stay and had great recommendations for food and drinks, excellent knowledge of the local area, they were more then happy to help us out whenever we asked them about Sayulita.
The cottage is about five minutes from the edge of Sayulita, drive down the main road you'll turn onto a twisting dirt road that takes you through the jungle to a cobblestone road into a small isolated bungalow compound. The bungalow we stayed at is much nicer in person than the pictures depict, everything was nice and comfortable and all the basics were provided making it really easy to feel at home during our stay, the insect screens, extra towels and beach umbrella were very much appreciated; if I could change one thing it would be the bed, it was a little small for two people.
It was really nice being outside of Sayulita. The cottage was far enough away from town and the main roads that at night all you can hear are the sounds of the jungle; we enjoy peace and quiet so if you that's what your looking for this is the place.
The main beaches in Sayulita can become a bit crowded so it was great having a private beach a ten minute walk away, not as many people go to this beach since it can mostly only be accessed by foot and from the private properties that are along the beach, at most we saw twenty people on the beach with us at any one time.
It was a great stay in Sayulita and we would definitely stay at Villa Bali again.
What a place to taste Bali et Mexico together at the same time.
Don't pass on this one because you will not find this anywhere else.
Bravo to Linda and Terry for the creativity and vision.
I will never forget our stay in the jungle with a 5 minutes walk to a quiet beach and 15 minutes to town where you will find anything you want and more.

What an incredible stay! I visited Villa Bali with my best friend for 9 days. The villa had everything we needed, from a semi private beach to a small kitchenette. The walk to town is about a mile, but the scenic walk always left us in awe. We had a chance to meet the owners, who showed us around and even gave us a ride to the villa where we learned about the history of Sayulita and the building of the villas. A big thank you to T.R., Linda and Monica for everything! It really was like staying in paradise!
I was so looking forward to our stay at Villa Bali, but Hurricane Patricia decided to land 12 hours prior to our arrival. Linda, who owns Villa Bali, contacted me 2 nights prior to arrival offering to let us use another home on the property which would be less prone to flooding without additional charges. She remained in consistent contact with me the day prior to our arrival while we were monitoring the weather. She was far more helpful and responsive than the airline! When we cancelled our flight as the airport was likely to be closed, she promptly sent me an almost complete refund which was very generous considering the short notice cancellation. I so appreciated her thoughtful and conscientious attention to our situation and hope that we will visit Sayulita in the future. We wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else.
I spent six awesome days at this very peaceful casa near Sayulita! The rustic feel of the ornate Indonesian one bedroom house was so charming! I loved waking up each morning to the sound of tropical birds and drinking my coffee on the open air deck overlooking the jungle! I also thoroughly enjoyed walking into town and back many times during my stay. The road to town is spectacular! The nearly private nearby beach was also spectacular and infinitely more desirable than the crowded tourist beach of Sayulita. The owner and property manager, TR, was exceptionally accommodating while I was there! Thank you TR for making my stay at Villa Bali so enjoyable and memorable!!! :-)
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the casita. We had no regrets about being out of town and really appreciated being able to go home to the much quieter jungle to sleep and relax. The closest beach is an easy walk of about 10-15 minutes, town and other beaches are a 30 to 40 minute walk on beautiful jungle roads. Before I arrived and was experiencing it I was concerned about the distance but I barely noticed it as the walk was so relaxing and interesting. Make sure you bring a flashlight if you are planning to walk at night. We did, it was a great way to get some exercise after eating and drinking at the amazing and very affordable Sayulita restaurants. If you need to take a cab it's about 120pesos one way. The house has a comfy firm bed, amazing jungle view, reliable wifi, hot shower and a small kitchen. Possibly we were just lucky but we weren't bothered at all by bugs and I'm usually a mosquito magnet so this was a miracle for me. The kitchen has the bare minimum however once we discovered the yummy food in town we quickly lost interest in cooking at home. The kitchen is fine for making coffee and simple snacks and for keeping the cerveza nice and cold. We had the advantage of having the owner T.R. staying in the main house and he quickly provided us with anything extra that we needed-I'm not sure how it would work in terms of getting extra water, bedsheets etc if he wasn't there but we were very well attended to. T.R. was also kind enough to pick us up at the beginning of our stay and drop us off at the bus stop when we left. This is a truly special and quite private little house in a beautiful out of the way jungle neighbourhood-it is not typical mexican style housing and it isn't for you if you love Holiday Inn's and all inclusive resorts but if you want a more unique experience give it a try.
