This review is long overdue!

We stayed in this apartment for 10 days in August of 2015. The location was perfect! Walking distance to subway stations, Central Park, museums, restaurants, bars, laundry, coffee. Everything we needed was a short walk away. The apartment is spacious and the living room gets a lot of natural light. There were 2 adults and 1 toddler and with 10 days worth of stuff, plus a stroller - and we never felt cramped. The bathroom, while updated, is a little slapdash. Other than that I'd have nothing negative to say about this place. The owner/manager was easy to contact and was flexible with meeting us (took a red eye from the West Coast which was delayed). We enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we're in NYC.

Surprisingly quiet, functional, comfortable and pleasant.

  • 4 of 5

Why surprisingly? Because it is on a main street but when you are indoors, it is so quite as if you were in a remote side street. The bedroom is at the back of the apartment and sleep quality is top.

The furnishing is functional, comfortable and in a taste that suits all. There is everything in the flat you can need for a short stay. Storage space is good and so it really feels like a home, even if (as in my case) it is only for a week. I would love to stay here again and I stay regularly at similar places.

The surroundings are endless: the park, main streets with eateries, shops, and public transport everywhere. You can also walk to many landmarks such as the Metropolitan Museum, Time square or whatever interests you.

could not have been more comfortable!

  • 4 of 5

I could not think of a single thing I would have done differently in this holiday home: comfortable bed, furniture, space, and incredibly, quite bedroom even thoug it is on a street with buses and there is some noicy activity in the basement some mornings to do with the rubbish disposal. I cannot say that any of it was of consequence. One morning the heating went off and I paniced believing it would stay off but it came back in a short while. Like I said, cannot fid fault with the place and of course, the location is perfect. Recommend it!

Comfortable Stay in a Great Westside Neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

This westside apartment looks exactly as pictured on the website, and is very comfortable for 2 people. It will sleep 4, but two people are on a pull out sofa in the living room. It is in a great neighborhood and just a short 2 block walk to the subway and about 100 yards from Amsterdam Ave. where there are many good restaurants and pubs. Like lots of NY apartments, it is railroad style. First comes the living room, then the bedroom, the the bathroom, and the nice size kitchen at the rear. The modern, stylish kitchen is fully equipped, but we ate every meal out and used it just for coffee in the morning. It is tastefully furnished, but the rooms, except for the living room, get very little natural light. Each of the 4 rooms has a window, but you are right next to the building next door, so the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen are very dark. The living room has two windows, but it is on the first floor, so you need to keep the shades drawn so people walking by aren't looking right into the living room. We were out and about everyday, so the dark rooms didn't bother us. The owners and apartment manager were very easy to deal with. We were met by one of the owners and given the keys and password for the wifi and instructions on using the flat screened TV. For the location, comfort, and attractiveness, this is an ideal apartment for a great NY neighborhood stay.

Perfect apartment!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was delightful! A great location very near the park and great restaurants and delis and a short walk to a multiple subway stations. Made our NYC trip perfect to have a roomy apartment to come back to rather than a hotel room without any extra space. Would recommend to anyone visiting NYC.

Clean & Convenient NY

  • 4 of 5

After 6 weeks of living out of a suitcase, this apartment was the perfect way to end our holiday in America.

It's a bit of a way from the centre of town but very convenient for Central Park and museums. We didn't use the subway but there is station close by if you wish to give it a go.

There's plenty of places locally to eat or by supplies to cook in the apartment, although the range of utensils in the kitchen is limited. But there is a kettle!! So good to be able to make a decent cuppa after weeks of coffee infused tea from hotel room coffee makers.

The week point of the apartment would have to be either the bathroom of the howling dog (starts at 7:45am when its owner leaves for work). The bathroom is adequate but the slapdash painting throughout the apartment is most evident here.

The HISTORY of our neighborhood.

The West 80s were already attracting residents in 1844, the year that Edgar Allan Poe wrote “The Raven” in a farmhouse on what became West 84th Street. Soon came Central Park and a plan for the area’s streets, which were filled with town houses as the 19th century waned. Local fortunes fell after World War II, as drugs and crime eventually took hold, but an influx of new residents and civic pride began to turn things around again by the 1980s.

Today, the area is a clean and quiet residential neighborhood famous for lovely tree-lined streets and brownstone buildings and townhouses, many of which are landmarks. Elegant per-war buildings line Broadway, Central Park West, Riverside Drive, and West End Avenue.

The Upper West Side serves as a great home base for visitors looking for an authentic New York City experience; it provides an escape from the chaos of Midtown and other heavily tourist areas while keeping every NYC convenience close by.

It is a great neighborhood for shopping, especially at gourmet stores, like Zabar's and Fairway and is a train hop away from the shops at Columbus Circle.
