Great alternative to a hotel

We needed a last minute place to stay in Cambridge and found that all of the hotels in the city were booked or overpriced. We found and booked this apartment on VRBO/Homeaway with owner, Anastasia, the day before we wanted to move in. Anastasia and her husband were just returning to the UK from holiday but were willing to get us into the apartment and settled comfortably.

The apartment itself is just as described. It is on the third floor of a rather new building with good security about 2 blocks from the train station. In the four nights we stayed there we never actually saw anyone else in the building so it was very quiet despite some rowdy students out on the street one night.

While not very large, the apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. There is a full kitchen if you are in the mood to cook and a washer/dryer to catch up on some laundry if you are on an extended holiday which is a great feature.

It's a bit of a walk to the city center (about 1 1/2 miles) but there are plenty of restaurants and cafes within a short walk and there always seem to be taxis at the train station if you need to go into the city and don't like to walk. Busses are just a few steps away also.

This is a great spot for a single person or couple who are in town for a few days or weeks who don't want to spend a lot of money on a hotel but want a place that is clean, safe and convenient. I would definitely stay here again.
