The Plantation on St. George Island: The Plantation on St. George Island is a gated community with limited access through a security guard insuring privacy and protection. The homes are nestled into beautiful large lots with easy access to the beach and bay. At the end of the Plantation is Bob Sikes Cut which is renown for its fishing opportunities -- and view of Little St. George Island. It is wonderful to perch on the rocks of the Cut and look at the boats parade by or watch the birds and dolphins.
Plantation Amenities: A gorgeous new Plantation Clubhouse is available to all of our visitors. It features a beautiful new pool and exercise room. Close by are tennis courts and extensive paved bike paths.
My wife and I very much enjoyed our week long stay. We especially appreciated the quiet, privacy and spaciousness of the accommodations. The house is surrounded by forest, with access to the beach via a few hundred yard long elevated boardwalk through the forest. The house is in excellent condition with all required amenities provided. We'll be coming back in the near future!
We had a wonderful stay with our kids and parents. The pool was wonderful, plenty of space, bedrooms, bathrooms and the beach was a few short steps away. We will consider returning for our next beach trip.
We had a great stay. The house is in a gated community so the beach was not crowded at all. Cam was great and very timely whenever we had a question or concern. I was torn when I was looking at houses, wanting a beach view, but having 2 kids (15/11) I knew the pool would be a good thing as well. It was a great choice. The beach Is less than a 2 minute walk and the boys loved being able to come back and swim. There are a lot of stairs so not recommended for anyone older that doesn't do stairs very well. We loved this place and will definitely go back!
With a large family and lots of smaller kids, most of our vacations in the last few years have been to theme parks and have been in continuous motion... This year, we decided to take it down a notch and really relax. We could not have picked a better place! The house was beautiful and extremely accommodating for our group of 10! Then, the pool and surrounding fauna really gave us a private family area that was peaceful and secluded. The beach was clean and the lack of crowds made for yet another peaceful experience. I hope to make it back regularly to this gorgeous get away! Absolutely loved it!
We were very pleased with this rental. Pool area was good, house was very neat and rooms were spacious. Kitchen stove and refrigerator were adequate but should be updated. Loved the decks and the large carport/parking area. Carpet on stairs was loose in places but not worn. Beds were comfortable. Cam was easy to communicate with and very helpful. We would recommend this property for families and have encouraged our family to rent again next year!
Totally enjoyed our family vacation at hidden treasure! every morning we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast on the deck enjoying the bird sounds and the wilderness. Then off to the beach for a morning of ocean fun. Watching Dolphins and our little ones playing in the sand and waves was priceless. Great "almost private" beach area was perfect with nice sand, and the water had a very large area to play in before the water got deep. After lunch we had plenty of activities with rented bikes, kyacs, fishing and playing in the crystal clean pool. Our son had the pleasure of a catch (and release ) 90 pound tarpin on a fishing expedition.
The house was very nice and clean and Cam was charming and responsive to any little thing that came up.
St George Island is a beautiful barrier island with 17 miles of pristine beach. It is not unusual to see dolphins, blue herons, osprey and even bald eagles while visiting the island. Relax and enjoy fishing, boating, walking , bicycling, swimming shelling, and star gazing. Close by is historic Appalachicola with its many restaurants and shops as well as the Dixie Theater. Bring your golf clubs --a challenging course is a only a short drive. Spend a long weekend and enjoy the local Seafood Festival and Chili Cook off.
