The Blue Moon Cottage is one of the remaining historical homes built during Jerome’s mining hay day. The cottage was built in the early 1900s by the mining company for use by its employees.
Leigh Hay-Martin purchased the cottage in the early 1980s. She fondly named her beloved cottage “Blue Moon”. Coincidently, Leigh signed the closing documents for its purchase when there was a second full moon [also known as a “blue moon”].
The Blue Moon Cottage is situated on a quiet side street and overlooks the old, original cemetery. Hundreds of people lost their lives when influenza ravaged the town in the early 1800s and filled the cemetery.
Yellow Lady Banks roses cover the trellis that welcomes you to the Blue Moon Cottage. The cottage was renovated approximately 15 years ago but retains the original old-world charm of Jerome. Complimentary WiFi is available.
The Blue Moon Cottage is host to many collections that are near and dear to Leigh’s heart. These include textiles, pottery, china, paintings, and vintage furniture and collectibles.
As a lover of all things fabric, Leigh's has a passion for textiles. She is a master quilter and designer. Three of her quilts adorn the living room, hallway, and bathroom.
Leigh Hay-Martin has owned Designs On You, an upscale retail clothing store in Jerome, Arizona, for 30 years.

The Blue Moon Cottage offers a unique and tranquil hide-away in one of Jerome’s original homes. It offers unobstructed views to the Verde Valley from the house and private deck area. Easy access and plenty of parking. Situated one-half mile away from the center of Jerome but within easy walking distance to the Old Jerome High School which was converted into art studios in the early 1980s. Unlike other B&B’s where common areas are shared, the Blue Moon offers a private rental setting. Complimentary WiFi is offered.

The cottage has many of the amenities of an upscale hotel, but in a cozy and intimate setting.
The Blue Moon is located in the lower part of the town of Jerome, across the street from the old high school (now private art studios) and overlooks the original, historic cemetery.
The cottage is about a one-half mile to town. It is an uphill walk to the center of town but it is all downhill going home!

The Blue Moon Cottage is an absolutely fabulous place to stay. It way exceeded my expectations in every way. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous, pretty much from every room of the house. The other great thing is that it is within walking distance to all the great things Jerome has to offer.
I highly recommend these accommodations to anyone who is looking for a unique experience to go along with this very unique town.
The cottage was absolutely incredible. The views were breathtaking. It's was the perfect weekend winter getaway. Honestly, we didn't want to leave. Thanks Leigh for letting us stay at your beautiful cottage. And thank you Opal for making us feel so welcome.

The place was bigger then expected, friendly staff and million dollar views. No oven or stovetop to cook with, and I'd suggest bringing bottled water. 'Romantic Getaway' is the best way to describe this great VRBO. Jerome is a great place to explore as well. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
My husband and I loved it! We were close enough to the shops in Jerome to go exploring, but far enough for it to be quiet at night. Leigh is an excellent hostess. We've rented properties before and never had someone do so much to make us feel welcome. We'll totally be back.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our mini getaway over the Labor Day holiday at the Blue Moon Cottage. I am so glad we chose to stay there (even booked an extra night). Leigh, the owner, was very accommodating and super friendly. We ended up getting there much later than planned due to an unforeseen traffic delay. Leigh was so happy when we arrived safely. She greeted us with a warm welcome and a smile. She quickly ran through a list of need to know items and left us to enjoy the rest of our weekend in her cozy little cottage.
We were fortunate to have an opportunity to stay three nights in Leigh's Blue Moon Cottage in Jerome. Although the cottage is essentially within walking distance to downtown its location on the mountain provides the feel of remoteness and an unobstructed view of the valley. The cottage is wonderfully decorated in a fun way that creates a very comfortable environment. Leigh had provided some essential items such as coffee, orange juice, English muffins, jam, cream cheese and sundry other items. We were late arriving Thursday night but she did not complain although we kept her on the phone about 20 minutes getting directions while driving from Cottonwood to Jerome and met us close to the cottage. We followed her a few blocks and she gave us an orientation of the cottage and tips regarding restaurants and the most important sights. During our relatively short stay when we were not just relaxing and enjoying the serenity of the cottage, we hiked trails near Jerome, Cottonwood and North of Sedona; kayaked the Verdes; picnicked by and swam in the Verdes River and Oak Creek by ourselves all including our constant companion, my friend's dog, Dierks Bentley; explored downtown Jerome (great breakfast and dinner places and we got to sit in the Jerome fire truck with our dog while the fireman took our pictures) and Cottonwood and had massages while Dierks was groomed in Sedona. Dinner at Asylum was fun. We ate outside then took a tour of the hotel; Dierks must have seen the ghost cat because he wanted to run out of there. The Bootlegger bar in Cottonwood was fun; Christy and Dierks danced and the locals had a good show. For a couple interested in a romantic stay in a very charming, historic mountain town the Blue Moon Cottage is ideal and the owner, Leigh, is very accommodating and friendly. A visit to her downtown clothing store to see her clothing and quilt designs is a must as well. One caution: don't drink too much wine while relaxing on the front porch, leave your phone and keys in the house and manage to lock yourself out. After laughing for awhile at ourselves and no way to call anyone or drive anywhere I was able to get Christy on my shoulders, push her up high on the post while standing on a chair in the dark and she climbed the rest of the way onto the back deck. Fortunately, that door was unlocked. Overall our long weekend in Jerome was a perfect mix of adventure, fun, good memories and time for relaxation.

We stayed at the Blue Moon over New Year's this last year. I had been sick and was looking for a quite get away, where I could still enjoy New Year's. I could not have been happier. The house is decorated as if I had done it myself. The country feel in the kitchen. The great living room with the view! I absolutely loved it. The muffins and coffee were such a nice bonus for the morning. The walks around the area were amazing. It had a real Jerome feel to it. I've stayed at a few rentals in Jerome now and this is definitely my favorite so far. The only reason I have not been back is that the visits since have had other couples and this is a home for 2. Very romantic as well! Thank you for opening your amazing house to us.
