About Shirley

We are retired, empty-nesters not ready to leave this beautiful property. My husband and I grew up in the Minneapolis-St Paul area. We are experienced vacation rental travelers, and enjoy sailing, fishing, golfing, motorcycling, hiking, and the arts. My life-long hobby is photography.

Shirley purchased this house in 1997

Why Shirley chose Wisconsin

We wanted to enjoy the best of rural living (privacy, solitude, a variety of birds and wildlife, wide-open spaces and heavily-wooded areas) with an easy commute to Minneapolis-St. Paul to enjoy everything city-living has to offer and the Mpls.-St. Paul airport.

Being close to Sillwater, Minnesota, a town I visited often before moving here, has so much to offer: a beautiful waterfront, historic architecture, unique shops and restaurants was a bonus.

What makes this house unique

Our home is well-built in an extremely quiet neighborhood. Laminate-wood floors in the 3-season porch and 2nd floor bedroom upstairs. Master bedroom on main floor carpeted in berber. Soft, low carpeting in the bedrooms. Hilltop, panoramic views from the deck, rooms in the back of the house, and the bonfire pit. Hike trails on the property for a good workout, especially climbing back uphill. Snowshoe or cross-country ski on fresh snow without having to pack up the car.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your home was perhaps the nicest one we have rented and we have been doing this for almost 30 years. You are so organized and your home so clean and well supplied....we really enjoyed sitting on the porch and also the living room comfortable sofa to watch a movie. The shop "My happy place" in Somerset was really fun too!

Thanks again for letting us stay in your home!

The home had everything we needed and then some. The setting was relaxing and just what we needed for our family getaway. Shirley thought of everything. Highly recommended!

Mother - Daughter Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time at this property. The location was perfect, away from the busy town life but close enough to Stillwater to take advantage of their activities. Loved sitting out on the deck at night. The home was very clean and had all the amenities needed. Thanks so much...great memories were made!

We were very happy with our stay. Worked very well for our family weekend vacation. We thought we would be able to swim in the lake but it was to weedy.

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

This home far exceeded our expectations! It was beautiful. More than enough room. Watched a deer in the back yard and many birds flying around. Sat out on the deck where we could overlook the lake!! The house was stocked amazingly well and clean as a whistle!! Only drawback...we didn't get to meet the owner, Shirley! She was so pleasant and accommodating! The three old ladies could not have been happier!! Thanks for making this happen for us. We hope to return one day! Oh, and so much to see in the area without a great deal of driving.

Thank you! Sharon C.

Lovely, relaxing location

  • 5 of 5

A group of 4 ladies in a book club stayed over a beautiful spring weekend. The house was spacious, well-equipped, immaculate & conveniently-located. The owner had a lot of information about things to do in the area & a good guide to the house. A memorable weekend.

Just what the family needed!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Shirley for sharing your wonderful home! My family and I needed a low stress weekend and your home provided exactly that! We loved playing football and badminton in the back yard with the relaxing waterfront views. Your home was inviting and "home away from home"! We are all feeling renergized and reconnected!! Thank you!
