About Cubby Momsen

My husband, Frits and I built this cottage from an old barn that we rescued. This was our home while building our new house just completed in October 2013. We lived here with our two dogs very comfortably for 21/2 years and now want to share it with our guests. Frits is a builder who can manage any building or repair job and I am an active real estate broker. Prior to building this new house we lived in Stowe for 35 years. We are available to our guests around the clock should you need anything.

Cubby Momsen purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Cubby Momsen chose Stowe Area

Whether you are a couple who love nature and the outdoors or just like to curl up next to the wood stove with a good book, you will enjoy this beautiful setting and charming cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

Natural ledges, huge rock formations and gorgeous southerly views attracted us to this 18 acre parcel of land surrounded by larger conserved acreage. Building here was a challenge but well worth the effort. We love the convenience of being on the south side of Stowe for easy access to Burlington and the airport yet tucked away in our own private place to enjoy the birds and animals that reside here with us.

Lovely clean and cozy cottage with modern amenities.

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about the cottage. It was very comfortable; the ideal place for some rest and relaxation. The quiet location is wonderful and there is easy access to Waterbury, Stowe and further afield. We hiked the trail at the back of the cottage. The views from the top are amazing. We visited Burlington, Montpelier, Newport, Woodstock and Quechee Gorge and lots of small hamlets along the way. Totally fell in love with Vermont and Badger Cottage - so many great places to visit. Ate at the Prohibition Pig in Waterbury - great food and good atmosphere. We hope to come back in the future and would definitely stay at this property. Cubby and Frtiz are wonderful and welcoming hosts. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Beautiful cottage with scenic views

  • 5 of 5

Cubby and Fritz are gracious hosts sharing their beautiful cottage.

We found enjoyable places to visit in Waterbury and Stowe. You can enjoy local craft beers from the Alchemist, Idletime or The Von Trapp breweries.

A drive to St. Johnsbury to visit Dog Mountain and the artwork of Stephen Huenek is enjoyable as well. Quiet solitude and a short trail to see a wonderful scenic view awaits you. We would highly recommend this location for a getaway.

Fantastic getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Badger Cottage is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. My husband, our dog, and I stayed over Labor Day weekend. The cottage has absolutely everything you could need, to include a full-size washer and dryer. Our dog loved the trails behind the cabin (but they're pretty steep, so bring good shoes!). The cabin is truly dog-friendly and has a built-in doggie door, a dog bed, and food/water bowls available. The owners are available 24/7 in case you need anything, but are completely non-intrusive. The location is about halfway between downtown Waterbury and downtown Stowe, and an easy 30 minute drive to Burlington. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this cottage to anyone looking to stay in the area, and we hope to be able to visit again in the future!

Excellent choice

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Badger Cottage. The location is great for hiking and exploring the area. If you are a fan of craft beer the location is great....right down the road from The Alchemist and relatively short drive to Burlington, Warren, and Hill Farmstead.

The cottage is great and has everything you need. Cubby and Frits are very welcoming. Highly recommend if you are planning a stay in the area.

Great private cottage

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here with our 5 year old daughter. It had everything you needed. The washer and dryer were great. It was real quiet which we appreciate. Cubby and Fritz were helpful in suggesting places to go as well. We loved Stowe and Waterbury and hope to be back!
