Rude security guard

  • 4 of 5

We were in town for my room mate's birthday and the Grizzlies game. Please keep in mind we are all the age of 27-30 so of course we were having a good time. That's why we went to Memphis. We all have great jobs and careers. The security guard accused of us of smoking marijuana in the stairwell cause she smelled it and we were walking in and out of the building around 2 am. We were coming in from the bar and going outside to smoke a cigarette. She wouldn't say hey to us or anything when we said hey to her. This was all on Friday night. Well Saturday night we come back from the Grizzlies game before going out. As we were leaving to go out we hear here telling another tenant that we were causing problems and what she thought and they were going to pull the cameras on us. Well we walk down the stairs to leave the property and she pulls out her camera phone and takes a picture of me waking out like really lady. This is how we found out what she thought and why she wouldn't speak to us. We come back in from the bar and as we walk in she gets on the phone with her supervisor saying they are back. We never had another tenant complain on us that we are aware of cause management never actually contacted me that we were causing problems. There are people that live there on a monthly basis, so it's not like we are the only ones there. Well as we check out Sunday I complain to the front desk about her and come to find out we were the 2nd complaint they received on her. They use a private company that provides the security guard so the security changes on a regular basis and it was her first weekend. First of all it was offensive to be accused of that. Yes we were drinking but that's as far as it goes. Second of all she had no professional courtesy. You still speak to the tenant no matter what. And you sure don't tell other tenants what you think. I will go back and stay hoping she isn't there cause the property was great and a great deal. We didn't let her ruin our time though cause she was more than welcome to call the cops to come search. Just rude customer service by a security guard. So unprofessional. Never seen anything like that in my life.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest: First, I would like to extend my apologies from The Exchange Suites on how you were treated over the weekend while staying with us. I would like you to know that management of the hotel was notified over the weekend and we have already contacted the private security company that we use to ensure this particular guard will no longer be at our building. The Exchange Suites thrives on providing a comfortable, welcoming environment and will not tolerate offensive , rude behavior or service from anyone working or staying in the building. I appreciate your honest review and hope that you will come again and have a much more pleasant experience. Thanks, The Exchange Suites Management

Convenient Location, Lacking Amenities Like Bar Soap

  • 3 of 5

Good location, nice view of park across street, lovely mosaic floors, crown molding seen in photo. Unit was dark at night due to 7 burnt out light bulbs, only one lamp per room with no overhead lights in bedrooms, no nightstands, clocks, no stopper for bathtub, no basics like salt and pepper or kitchen knife suitable for slicing. There was a minimal amount (we thought we might run out) of toilet paper and dishwashing detergent, sadly thin towels. Look at the photos of the bedrooms and see that the walls do not extend to the top so sound will travel very easily throughout the entire unit. Be aware there are over a dozen stairs to the bedrooms if you have any mobility issues. It is a lovely building that has seen better days but may be undergoing renovations. I would gladly give this a 4 if the basics of a rental were provided.

Nice

  • 4 of 5

The kitchen wasn't stocked very well. No pitchers for tea,not enough dish towels or bath towels. It worked well for us. but it could be cleaner, but all in all it was nice.

Memphis Girls Trip

  • 3 of 5

Loved the condo. Big enough for all six of us. Easy to get around town walking or taking the trolly.

Great little restaurant for breakfast right around the corner. Blue Plate.

You only get one key fob to get into the building so if you are going out and some want to stay you better work that key fob issue out.

My only concern was the panhandlers that seemed to work the street where the condo was.

If you can’t decide, stop by fine dining restaurant FLIGHT where you can sample not one, but three items on the menu! THIRSTY? Walk to and hang out with the locals at The Brass Door Irish Pub or Bardog Tavern. Or take a short Trolley ride to party on the world famous Beale Street where you will find bars like Silky O’ Sulivans, Alfred’s and BB King’s. Some great places I recommend to visit: For Breakfast/Lunch: Blue Plate Cafe, Trolley Stop, The Little Tea Shop, Flights (fancy), Flying Fish.
