This is a laid back, friendly community (not a 5 star full services resort - nor priced like one), mostly over 40, (but children have been spotted) bucolic setting of old florida waterways, canals and a private island / lagoon that connects to one of the best bass fishing lakes in america, lake walk in water, (lake weohyakapka), an incredible 7500 acre boating and fishing lake connected to the community.

Great wildlife - sandhill cranes, wild turkey, armadillos, boar, deer, and countless birds and other animals. Beautiful 100 foot oaks throughout property. Play bocce ball, shuffleboard, softball, or poker - some of the many activities that take place all year.

Community has clubhouse, men's club, women's club, gym, heated pool (open year-round), hot tub, pool showers, tennis, softball (nearby), basketball, bar-b-q areas, miles of well-lighted, safe and secure walking, fitness, and biking trails. Stay for one week or one year - you will be so relaxed that you may not want to ever leave!

In the heart of central florida's citrus belt, yet less than an hour to the heart of orlando's most famous attractions: disney, universal studios, and downtown Orlando. About 25 minute drive to LEGOLAND.

This Lake Wales / Winter Haven area boasts some of the highest concentration of golfing and boating/fishing lakes in the USA, plus it's the water ski capital of the world..

Great restaurants nearby, including the 5 star Chalet Suzanne. Many great area attractions just 20 minutes away, including the , world famous bok tower gardens, Legoland, flea markets, car shows, and festivals. Good property. Clean and good quiet area!

  • 4 of 5

Nice and quiet location. Came for a golf tournament and enjoyed our stay at the nice little community of lakeshore. The place was a little outdated, but provided a very comfortable stay with no problems!

Very nice experience

  • 4 of 5

Condo had everything that was advertised. Very quiet, attractive, clean, and safe. We took evening walks around complex, enjoying the wildlife and quiet surroundings. The pool and whirlpool were outstanding, the walk to the pool is through a tree lined walk that is very attractive . The screened room at condo was ideal for morning coffee and evening conversations. The provided grill was a nice added feature. Very comfortable furniture and bed.

Rick the owner is very attentive, calling to check that all was ok. He was very easy to contact with the questions that I had. I needed to extend my stay, and he was very accommodating. I would certainly stay there again.

wonderful winter stay

  • 5 of 5

This is a hidden gem for winter travel for those of us weary of cold and snow. We enjoyed the villa, located centrally in this gem of a community. Relaxing was the theme of our time, with time at the pool, use of the game room, bingo, and much more as we wanted. Friendly community, outgoing individuals but able to sit back and relax as wanting. One of the few communities that is really dog friendly for those who travel with their smaller furry friends. We look so forward to returning here in the future.

Wonderful place for the perfect vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We needed a break from the New England cold and couldn't have asked for a better location to enjoy a week in Florida. We've never been to Lake Wales before but it was the perfect location to hit the east coast and the west coast during our Florida vacation. Rick's place was perfect - clean and well equipped and with a terrific waterfront view to enjoy. The place is fabulous - peaceful and tranquil but with amenities that kept us active - swimming, tennis and we even took a relaxing boat ride with some terrific neighbors that we met. In fact, the whole community seemed friendly and hospitable.

Mary and I would definitely recommend this wonderful rental to anyone looking for a clean, affordable rental in a great location.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the positive feedback. We do our best to be good "curators" of this great community - It really sells itself, we just need to keep the units clean and updated...The community's facilities, the water & nature, and the great people - is what really sells itself..!

Owner's Response: Thanks. 2014 should be a great year with all of new renovations in the community. Can't wait until the New Year's Day Cookout & The Florida Flywheelers Swap Meets in JAN & FEB. There are also some boat, RV, and car shows in FEB / MAR. Hope to see you down here soon!

safe and friendly waterfront community, beuatiful and comfortable patio home, low price

  • 5 of 5

THIS PLACE IS AN AFFORDABLE SLICE OF HEAVEN ! - I haven't done many reviews, but you just can't beat this place for the price. Think of The Villages for quarter the price...Beautiful, tranquil, yet so much do nearby. We stayed here last month and can't wait until we return in FEB. When we arrived it was 82 degrees, sunny, with low humidity. This is the "Old Florida" at it's best - lots of wildlife that you never thought of seeing unless you were at a zoo..We left a snow & ice storm up north - we were one of the last flights to leave Reagan Airport. The owner is a great guy who really cares about the renters' experience. We had some friends nearby in Orlando and the owner put them up in another unit for just $45/night - it saved them a lot of late night driving and a possible DUI.

This unit has been completely renovated including kitchen, Flat screen TVs, Bar-b-q Grill, flooring, bedroom, paint, and sunroom. The Florida room overlooks the clubhouse and the waterway that leads to this massive boating and fishing lake. Although most people here are over 40, there is a nice mix of young & old - it isn't exclusively over 55. The community is centered in some of the most beautiful land in Florida, right on a lake, canal, and a freshwater lagoon that circles around this incredible private island. There are pontoon boats, sailboats, and other watercraft - fun to watch the sunsets over the lake Walk On Water...This place is as active or as laid back as you want it. We're pretty active so we took advantage of the bike trails, the fitness trail, the really nice gym - but the pool was our favorite. It's massive and heated all year, so it's like your own private oasis - the hot tub, picnic area, tennis, and basketball sit right off the pool. There was a cookout going on that we walked by and these friendly Canadians invited us to join them and handed us a beer! There's also a Large Clubhouse that has dances, karaoke, auctions, bingo, and musicians. We mainly stayed outside to enjoy the great weather. There are people also from Germany and South America that come here - everyone seems like a big family ready for a good time. There are obviously nice places all over Florida - but nothing comes even close to this place for the price, serenity, or friendliness. We're thinking about renting 3 or 4 of these places next year from owner and have a small family reunion ...

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind words. We made an investment about 5 years ago to completely remodel and decorate our 5 units for a clean and consistent look: Cedar Closets, new matrasses, new paint & furnishings, Flat screen TVs, Cable, and larger, extended enclosed sunrooms with outdoor cooking grills. We think Lakeshore is a great place to hang out for a couple or a party of 20. As you know, the Lakeshore Community was completely renovated (clubhouse, pool, sports complex, roofs, stucco, painting, asphalt, landscaping, etc.) with a $14M insurance settlement about 5 years ago, so you basically have this incredibly beautiful & tranquil setting, completely renovated, for a low price. We look forward to seeing you back here soon and often! Remember: "The Tans will fade but the memories will be forever!"

Notes:
There is no restaurant on-site, Nalcrest (1 mile away) has a daily buffet. The community is best described as laid-back old warm sunny Florida, part of the citrus belt, south of Orlando. It's for low key budget minded people who wish to enjoy nature, the warmth, the heated pool, and the friendly people in the community. It has nice amenities. It is not a 5 star resort so you won't find the Kardashians wintering here. However, there are aspects of this community that may be better than a 5 star resort: including low price, boat slips, docks, access to the 50 acre private recreational island, access to 7500 acre ski/fishing lake, and all of the things nearby that people of Central Florida do: Flea Markets, Auto Auctions, Barbeque festivals, botanical gardens, nature walks, water sports, golfing, tennis, and just having a laid back good time together in Sunny South Central Florida, typically 8-10 degrees warmer than Orlando in the winter
