Home that has all the amenities. This was the owner's first home when they were married and has been enjoyed by many families
Easy to get to property from NYS Thruway. This camp is on an 1.5 acre property that has a rolling lawn to the lake front. A fire pit in front of the lake is perfect for roasting marshmallows or having a relaxing drink.
This was a wonderful experience we were unsure of renting a place because we've always had our own camper but this was excellent wish we had rented it for the whole week We will be going back thank you Steve see you next year .
The house was clean, the property was outstanding and Steve was very responsive, reasonable and courteous. Will plan to rent again!
The cabin was well kept and clean. The owners took extra steps to make sure we were welcome by making sure that all the snow was cleared, the cabin was pre-heated, and the lights were on. It was a welcome break to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyone on internet devices. We spent time as a family watching DVDs and playing board games. We were 30 minutes away from the Adirondack Scenic Railroad which has a Polar Express train ride which is excellent. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it.
We were looking for a quiet camp on the lake to bring our young daughter for a long weekend and we definitely found it. The lakefront worked well to launch our kayak and take a dip in the water. We loved the firepit! It was down away from the camp overlooking the water. If you're looking for a modern camp with all the luxuries of home, this is not the camp for you. No wifi, tv, or reliable cell phone service. For us, that was what we were looking for so we were perfectly content. The one complaint we had was that it was slightly dirty upon arrival. Nothing extreme, but there was cat hair on the floor and furniture and the kitchen and bathroom could have been a little cleaner. The day we arrived a woman stopped by to check in on us (we got a late start and had only been in the camp a few minutes) and mentioned that another woman who normally maintains the camp was on vacation herself, so this may explain the slightly untidy nature. All in all we would still recommend renting to anyone looking for a rental with the bare necessities on a quiet part of the lake.
Our stay was a short one. We were all around satified with the cabin(although my care taker watched to many horror movies and wasn't comfortable in the woods lol!). I didn't get a chance to enjoy the lake as Ii have a disability and would not be able to take that steap hike down to it. The living area was a little crowed and I did notice there was no living room tables but thats ok. At one point in time we almost got locked out as we diddn't take both keys since they didn't mark wich were which door, we thought they fit all doors! But we left one unlocked! It smelt like propane/gas when we arrived and the smell lingered for a day, and unfortunalty we couldn't located any trash bags when we left to replace in the trash cans :( But our dogs loved it!
The cabin in Hinkley was the perfect gateway for me and my family. We were also able to bring our dog to enjoy in the fun. The cabin was very clean, spacious and comfortable. It was great not having to pack kitchen items, bedding and towels. The owners were great too! They sent a very detailed welcome letter that included specific directions, items that were are available at the cabin to help with packing and contact information. My family and I would defiantly recommend this cabin to anyone traveling in the area and we are planning on coming back to stay.
