This 2 bedroom camp is located right on the lake (no roads to cross). It is also set off the road so you won't hear traffic. All brand new furniture and linens. Sleeps 6 comfortably. Big yard facing the lake. We are one of the few camps that offer bed linens and bathroom towels. Modern conveniences in an Adirondack setting. Very easy to get to this camp, (all paved roads) 20 minutes from exit 31 off the NYS Thruway. Perfect vacation spot. Kitchen, bath, living room, 2 bedrooms, laundry, fireplace and more. Was a home...now is your camp. Private lake front for swimming, fishing, boating, outdoor fire pit for camp fires and roasting marshmallows. Quite, picturesque setting.

Home that has all the amenities. This was the owner's first home when they were married and has been enjoyed by many families
Easy to get to property from NYS Thruway. This camp is on an 1.5 acre property that has a rolling lawn to the lake front. A fire pit in front of the lake is perfect for roasting marshmallows or having a relaxing drink.
The cabin was well kept and clean. The owners took extra steps to make sure we were welcome by making sure that all the snow was cleared, the cabin was pre-heated, and the lights were on. It was a welcome break to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyone on internet devices. We spent time as a family watching DVDs and playing board games. We were 30 minutes away from the Adirondack Scenic Railroad which has a Polar Express train ride which is excellent. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it.
We were looking for a quiet camp on the lake to bring our young daughter for a long weekend and we definitely found it. The lakefront worked well to launch our kayak and take a dip in the water. We loved the firepit! It was down away from the camp overlooking the water. If you're looking for a modern camp with all the luxuries of home, this is not the camp for you. No wifi, tv, or reliable cell phone service. For us, that was what we were looking for so we were perfectly content. The one complaint we had was that it was slightly dirty upon arrival. Nothing extreme, but there was cat hair on the floor and furniture and the kitchen and bathroom could have been a little cleaner. The day we arrived a woman stopped by to check in on us (we got a late start and had only been in the camp a few minutes) and mentioned that another woman who normally maintains the camp was on vacation herself, so this may explain the slightly untidy nature. All in all we would still recommend renting to anyone looking for a rental with the bare necessities on a quiet part of the lake.
Our stay was a short one. We were all around satified with the cabin(although my care taker watched to many horror movies and wasn't comfortable in the woods lol!). I didn't get a chance to enjoy the lake as Ii have a disability and would not be able to take that steap hike down to it. The living area was a little crowed and I did notice there was no living room tables but thats ok. At one point in time we almost got locked out as we diddn't take both keys since they didn't mark wich were which door, we thought they fit all doors! But we left one unlocked! It smelt like propane/gas when we arrived and the smell lingered for a day, and unfortunalty we couldn't located any trash bags when we left to replace in the trash cans :( But our dogs loved it!
The cabin in Hinkley was the perfect gateway for me and my family. We were also able to bring our dog to enjoy in the fun. The cabin was very clean, spacious and comfortable. It was great not having to pack kitchen items, bedding and towels. The owners were great too! They sent a very detailed welcome letter that included specific directions, items that were are available at the cabin to help with packing and contact information. My family and I would defiantly recommend this cabin to anyone traveling in the area and we are planning on coming back to stay.
At first sight we thought we were at the wrong place. It was an outdated double wide trailer; the pictures on home away made it look much better than it really was. Inside the living area was fairly spacious and the furniture was new. The kitchen however was very outdated. The pots and pans were good quality, but some of the cups were dirty. We found a mouse trap in the cabinet and mouse droppings in the pots in the lower cupboard. The bathroom was large but we found hair on the walls so the clean job could’ve been better. The bedroom was nice and the sheets were clean based on the fresh smell that they had. The rest of the house had a musky smell to it. The TV was very old. The deck was terrible. Owners had a laminated letter stating that they apologize for the chipping paint but that it was because the painters used the wrong paint. You would think that they would have fixed it by now because it looks like it's been like that for years. My husband got splinters from the worn deck wood, so make sure to wear feet protection at all times. The grounds are very nice and sometimes peaceful when people are weren't riding their ATV's across the lake - the noise pollution from these were disappointing. The lake is very nice when you are on it. It is very muddy so if you want to rent their canoes for the weekend be prepared to have to walk through mud to get them - you also need to be physically fit to drag them up from the water. We thought the canoes would be complimentary, but you have to pay to use them. The silver lining is that the caretaker Sharon was very nice. Overall, we were disappointed in the rental and would not be coming back. The two stars are for the lake view and the caretaker.
We brought our 5 month old daughter and our 5 year old black labrador up from Brooklyn for a nice quiet week away. This did not disappoint! We grilled every night and had many nice dinners looking out over the gorgeous water. The home has everything you need (gas for the grill provided and all utensils/kitchenware including a Cuisinart coffee maker that doesn't require filters). Sharon, the caretaker, stopped by a few times to see how everything was going. A very nice touch! We rented a kayak from Steve and Lynn which was great fun to paddle around the lake (we had to take turns because of our infant). The beach on the opposite side is also nice and very child friendly with picnic tables. Though it costs $10 for parking so plan ahead! We did a bit of hiking but the fact that it was August meant we quickly became mosquito bait. Bring bug spray! Overall, a fantastic experience at a very well taken care of house.
