What a great vacation! We started planning a trip for Christmas 2 years ago, looking for beach and pool, as well as sleeping for 21 people (plus two more who were 10 mos. and 4 mos at the time of the trip). We booked VillaRosa about a year before the trip. Owners were great about working with us as we had several families paying for their own, it was nice to be able to divide up the cost. Villa Rosa was perfect , we loved it. Some small things like having a small amount of toilet paper and soap in each bathroom was really nice. We have gone to other vrbo and that hasn't been the case. It is a beautiful home, we could have stayed there the entire time and never gone site seeing. There were plenty of games, tons of movies, books, magazines (in both spanish and english). Plenty of dishes and kitchen items. There were bath towels and wash clothes as well as beach towels! We went to the Arecibo Lighthouse , which is really more for small kids, but it gave some history as well. We drove to the Observatory , that was fantastic. Some of us drove to the Batey Zipline! Spent a day at the Fort and walking around Old San Juan. The last day we did the Barcardi history tour. But our favorite was just staying at the house. Walking on the beach, floating in the pool. There is plenty of space you don't feel like you're falling all over each other. There are some stray dogs, but they are very friendly and we didn't mind them at all. We can't say enough about this rental, we would go back in a minute!!! Thanks to the owners and Tata and her husband for a great vacation! Oh yes Tata and her husband were very helpful when we had a dead car battery twice! Our family ranged in age from 4 mos to 80 years old, the house worked well for all of us!
This Villa is the perfect place if you want a beach wedding without the resort crowd in your space. Homeowner is responsive (lives in US) and on site manager is easy to work with. We worked with local San Juan vendors found online and everything went smoothly. Our daughter said it was her dream wedding!
I had planned this vacation for a year for a family Reunion to get all my children and grandchildren together. Positive: the home has a beautiful beach location. We have rented beach homes for a number of years but this had the best location of all homes. This is why I give 3 stars. Negative: when we showed up on Saturday we were told two things. The first was the air conditioning in the large great-room and one bedroom was not working and could not be fixed until the soonest, Monday. (the temp was in the 90s the next few days) The house rules said no toilet paper in the toilet. We had been to PR before and this has not been an issue at the hotels so not aware of this. The air was fixed Monday evening but that was 2 1/2 days without air in one of the bedrooms, (the smallest and therefore very warm) and the large room where the family gathered to play games at and get out of the heat. Monday night, we also noticed a low water pressure particularly with warm water. Barely enough to flush toilets and not enough warm water pressure to shower but figured at end of day maybe we had used a lot of water and that was the issue. However, when we woke up Tuesday morning we had no water at all. No toilets flushed, no showers etc. in a house with 17 people. We were told that the water was shut off due to non payment. ( I later received a TC from the owner saying this was a mistake) however mistake or not we had no water. The water was turned back on mid day but the water pressure did not get back to the point where we could flush toilets until evening and have warm water for showers until about midnight. There was never any hot water in the third floor master shower at any time. Wednesday we had water however, the pool pump, which is on a timer and shuts off all night, did not go on until about 10 Am. The water was not clear enough for us to feel comfortable swimming until almost noon that day. I question why the pump would be off at all when guests are there leaving standing water for hours every night causing the Jacuzzi tub to drain and the water to just sit there getting cloudy (particularly with the Zika issue) . Tried to get cable TV to watch Olympic swimming trials, TV said no stations available. Not sure why but gave up. As the person who planned this and paid I was very frustrated.
It was a wonderful weekend filled with a combination of relaxation and celebration! This beach house has a great space to stay with your family and friends and enjoy a tremendous vacation or just celebrate any important occasion.
Magaly and her husband were so friendly and personable. They did a great job of making sure we had everything in order and they were immediately available to help with any issues. Their hospitality was excellent!
I will forever treasure my 40th birthday party at Villa Rosa - Hallows Beach!! :)
Myrtle-Rose, Chaunee, Magaly and Family; Thank you so much for the opportunity!
Villa Rosa was the perfect location for our Winter Destination Wedding. We stayed for about a week with 15 of our closest friends, there was more than enough room for everyone to be quite comfortable. My only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer.
There were plenty of stores and restaurants within a short drive if we didn't have what we needed. Tata and Zulma were both wonderful and attentive to our needs as well!
The pictures really don't do this place justice! It was the perfect setting for out sunset ceremony. There were a few stray beach dogs that did come onto the property, but nothing we couldn't handle! A few of our guests quite enjoyed them and made new friends. One thing to be aware of is the sand fleas... we thought we were being bit by mosquitoes but they were actually sand fleas. Bring plenty of bug spray, especially if it rains!
Overall we were ecstatic with our time spent at Villa Rosa. We hope to be back to celebrate soon!
I don't usually go online to review vacation spots, but I didn't think twice about giving a review for this place. We just returned from our vacation there. 15 of us were there for our Thanksgiving Holiday and 10 year vow renewal. When I say this place is everything they say it is.... Amazing!! The house has everything you can think of from games, movies, outdoor recreation, PLENTY of Space... and the location on the beach.... breathtaking. Before arriving, I was concerned about the safety of the beach water for the kids, since I heard it was a surfers beach. Let's just say, the kids and the adults spent half our time there on the beach, playing in the water. It was also an amazing location to have our vow renewal ceremony on the beach. I heard from other reviewers about the possibility of dogs on the beach. Funny thing, the only time we experienced dogs on the beach was during our ceremony. The dogs walked through, found somewhere far off to sit next to each other, and watched the ceremony. It was definitely a Kodak moment! After the ceremony, they walked away and we didn't see them again! There are so many great things I can say about the property and our experience. Tata, the house manager, was superb and so personable. She and I laughed and talked at the gate for about 30 minutes as if we were old friends! Myrtle Rose and her team were so accommodating, friendly, and just great to work with. You guys definitely rock! Last thing I will say is, my wife and I, were afraid to go on vacations overseas because every time we went somewhere we would get sick or something not so good would happen. Because of this experience, our faith in vacations have been restored. Thank you Villa Rosa for everything you've done for us!!!!!
Arecibo is Puerto Rico's third largest city, which means you are close to all major amenities (supermarkets, Prime Shopping Outlets, movie theaters, etc.). Nevertheless, the house is located in the secluded neighborhood of Islote, with Hallows Beach right outside the back door. From Arecibo, you can delve into the entire northwest coast of Puerto Rico: the Cueva del Indio Cavern (5 mins), Punta Los Morrillos Lighthouse that includes an Aquarium and a Pirate Hide Out (10 mins), Rio Camuy Caves (30 minutes), Arecibo Astronomical Observatory (25 minutes), Cambalache Forest Reserve (20 mins), Toro Negro Rain Forest (60 minutes) and, of course, head for the BEST SURFING BEACHES of Puerto Rico! Hollows Beach is your backyard & a MUST to surf it if you hit PR! This wave is paradise for itself. The beach is known for it's very consistent, Regional Classic waves (150+ days/year). It is a welcome alternative to the ultra-crowded surfing beaches of Rincon and Isabela. (More Info Below)
