We have been traveling to Montana to visit my in-laws for years, but once we had our two boys, our in-laws no longer had room for us to stay with them.
Traveling with two boys, ages 4 and 6 means lots of NOISE! We have previously stayed at the Meadow Lake Resort, and although a very nice place, it's very expensive, and we were always worried about our boys bothering our neighbors, (particularly when we stayed in a second floor condo with shared walls, and people below us).
It was nice a nice change to stay somewhere that we could let our boys feel like they were at home, and not worry about bothering the neighbors, and there was plenty of room for them to run around outside.
The house has plenty of room inside, stocked with everything we needed...a true home away from home; there were even ice cream bars in the freezer!
My wife is an AMAZING cook, and was so pleased to have a fully stocked kitchen (pots/pans, plates, flatware, spices, etc.), which made making meals fun and easy.
The dining area is very roomy and inviting, and we were able to have family over for dinner with us every evening.
There are plenty of drawers for storing clothes in the bedrooms, so we didn't have to live out of our suitcases...that was really nice. And when it came to laundry, we had a washer and dryer right there in the house. So easy!
The internet wi-fi was super nice, and there was a large library of DVD's and music CD's available.
During our stay, we saw deer in the back yard, took our boys fishing where they caught their first fish, caught frogs in Glacier National Park, rode the Alpine slide and gondola at Big mountain, and even spotted a black bear wandering the treeline a few miles away on our way out of town! Now THAT is MONTANA!
Who could ask for more?
Booking was easy, and the manager was great to work with. You'll need to book early though, particularly if you plan to stay during the summer months, as this place gets booked up way ahead of time.
Thanks for letting us stay at your wonderful cottage!
This house was just perfect for our trip to Glacier National Park. My husband and I loved the house, and loved dealing with Anna, the owner-she is wonderful to work with, and helpful with all kinds of info about the area since she lives close by. We had a terrific time in Glacier, even had LOTS of snow all week (hard to believe it was early September!!), and one morning temp of 23 degrees!! (what an awakening for us Florida folks, brrrrr!!) It was so beautiful, though, to see Glacier all covered in snow. The east side of the park had a ton of snow, so much so that Logan's Pass was closed for most of our week. Thankfully, it finally opened so we got to drive the whole "Going to the Sun" road--it will take your breath away with the most amazing scenery. Great hikes too.
We loved coming home to our nice (warm) house in the evening, cooking dinner in the well stocked kitchen, and a nice hot shower (or bath) before bed. Slept great in the queen sized bed and loved the total peace and quiet of the neighborhood. We literally fell into bed so early every night after our full days at the park. We had every intention of playing games and reading at night, but that never really happened!!
The house was extremely clean, bed linens smelled so nice and fresh, plenty of towels and "supplies".
I wish the weather had been (much) warmer as we would have loved to sit outside in the beautiful yard, and have early morning coffee out back. Picnic table and grill would have been great to use also, but....too cold for us!!! Kids would love playing, and running, around the yard. Hammock sure looked inviting too. Well kept yard, even a clothesline!
The location of the house is perfect--you are only about 20 minutes outside Glacier and the drive over is just beautiful. We would absolutely rent this house again, and hope to be able to do that again in the future. Hope to get back to Glacier and Montana one day soon!!
This is a small cottage in a small mixed use neighborhood. Appears to be a work in progress. Back area needed to be mowed, maintained. Decor is utilitarian. Hot in the summer evenings. Some neighbors yelling at each other easily heard since windows have to be open for ventilation. Houses very close together. Lots of mosquitos.
The property was everything promised. Cute rooms, fully equipped kitchen, fire pit in the yard, lots of thoughtful details such as ice in the freezer, extra blankets in case it got cold and directions to the nearest grocery store -we were very comfortable and thrilled to be here. There is a view of the mountains from the yard and lots of birds and deer to watch from the yard as well. We used this as a base for day hikes in Glacier National Park, which was a 20 minute drive away. We could have gotten a place closer to the park but it wouldn't have been as nice and this felt worth it.
This property is neat and well maintained. The biggest asset is the proximity to Glacier and the fact that it is in a quiet semi-rural area. Watching the horses graze in the evening and sitting by the fire pit in the rear yard was amazing. We were in the area to spend our time enjoying the outdoors and relaxing and this place delivers that in spades. Anne was helpful and helped insure that we had a great stay. It is reasonably priced and rustic in a beautiful way. The in home television/entertainment was very basic but who visits Glacier to watch TV. I have to admit, however, that the property would have scored all 5 stars but for this very minor shortcoming. It was a great vacation and this little cottage was a big part of how special it was to us. Many Many thanks!
This home was the best vacation rental we could have chosen. The setting is beautiful with pine trees everywhere. Although it is conveniently located to highways, town, restaurants and Glacier Park, it is so private and peaceful. We never travel without our dogs and the set up for our pets was perfect with a fenced-in yard in the front and a spacious back yard with a delightful garden. I must also add that this was the best appointed house imaginable. Everything we could have possibly needed was there. The home is charming and so is the owner, Anna, who was most helpful with any questions we had and pay attention to her restaurant recommendations. They were right on the money! We will be back and can't wait to do it too.
