|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
If you want to be in the heart of town and walk anywhere this is it. It is on the first block, steps to the sand and steps to any restaurant or bar. Right next door to the Catalina Island Conservancy so easy if you want a tour or event. Two nice decks, you can have a drink and enjoy the views or people watch. All newly redone, nice everything. Sound throughout along with flatscreen bluray and mp3 dock. It technically is a one bedroom but it is 1100 sq ft with two euroloungers that fold out and all bedding/towels included. This is a fun place to go and you will love it, we do.
NEW POLICY, NO REFUND DUE TO CANCELLATION. Sorry, it was getting to be a pain in the neck. VRBO does offer travel insurance.

We just got back from spending 4 nights at the Yellow House in Avalon and it was fantastic. The rental was clean and perfect for three of us. Location was in walking distance of the Catalina Express docks and everything in town. We didn't use the bikes or paddle boards but did spend a few hours using the kayaks which was a lot of fun. Can't say enough about how good Marty is at checking in with you...never did meet him or even talk on the phone but he was texting us before, during, and right after our time there so we always knew we could get a hold of him if needed. As for Catalina itself, we're really glad that we visited in January when the rest of the tourists were away. Sometimes it felt like we were the only tourists there...which almost made us feel like locals. The only exception was the two days that the cruise ships pulled in and then there quite a few more people. Otherwise it was a fantastic and relaxing 4 nights on the island.
Marty's place has everything (minus washer and dryer) you need for the comfort of a "home away from home," plus a bonus, which he calls "toys." To get to his place, you have to walk around the left side of the building, which leads you to the second and third floor of the apartment. The apartment is just a few steps from the beach. His "toys" include 6 bikes, 2 single person kayaks, 2 paddle boards, and a golf set. Marty was friendly, helpful and responsive in a timely manner. Thank you, Marty, for opening up your place to share with the world!
It was clean and had everything we needed. We liked the location but know that you might hear noise early in the morning as it's a main street and cars and people are moving about. Loved the balconies and just wish the one by the kitchen had a small table and chairs outside so we could have eaten out there. We enjoyed and hung out in the top floor. I liked all the windows and how bright and open it seemed when they were open. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I rarely sleep well when not on my bed but slept without waking every night we were there. The owner checked in with us a couple of times to make sure everything was ok. I felt that I could have called him anytime if we'd had any problem. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends. We enjoyed eating at The Sandtrap (Happy hour 2-7p.m. with $1good tacos and drinks). Vons Express also had good prices for breakfast sandwiches and burritos $3.49, and $.99 coffee. Anywhere else the breakfast burritos were appox. $8-10. Also enjoyed pizza and salad and Antonios. We really enjoyed our stay here.
I couldn't imagine a better place to stay on Catalina, in the heart of downtown Avalon, when it comes to both value and amenities. We were extremely satisfied with the location, the layout and the bonus items that the house provides. Plan on eating a lot, walking short distances and then burning it off on the bikes, kayaks or a hike. Will stay here every time, whether with friends or as a couple. Thanks, Marty!
The yellow house is located convenient to everything Avalon has to offer. It is less than one block to the beach, and a short walk to the restaurants, bars, and shops. The house was clean and in great condition. It's obvious that the house was recently updated throughout.
Marty has thought of every convenience to make your stay enjoyable. We used the bikes and kayaks several times, and it was so nice not to have to rent them. The house had every item and utensil we needed during our stay.
The balconies are a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the great views. The street out front does get busy and you can hear the traffic during the day, but it quiets down at night.
Would definitely rent again. Close to everything yet very private by being upstairs. Nicely updated, very modern. Great view of mountains from the bed upstairs. There is a room full of toys to be used on land and water. The owner, Marty, is very responsive and ready to answer any needs you have.
Included with the rental is two single man Kayaks, 4 bikes and two stand up paddleboards. You have to carry them to the beach which is less than a block. You have to be responsible to know how to use them, I am not offering any instruction. There are life vests but no helmets. Nice new stuff, and also includes beach chairs and an umbrella, two sets of golf clubs.
I am negotiable on the payment structure but if you don't ask I'll request 1/2 then the other 1/2 whenever VRBO sends out the request which is probably 30 days prior to travel. If its a month or less then just one payment. Please use the eCheck option or let me know so I can ad 3% for the credit card choice.
