The beaches of the area are among the most beautiful in the mediterranean, both on the ionian sea such as eloro, calamosche (inside nature reserve vendicari), nature reserve vendicari, san lorenzo, spinazza, morghella (behind morghella´s saline), capo passero, and on the mediterranenan sea such as isola delle correnti, carratois, granelli, marza, porto ulisse and santa maria del focallo.

Excellent séjour chez Orlando à Marzamemi

  • 5 of 5

Cosy and comfortable. Friendly and caring Host.

  • 4 of 5

During our week long stay in Marzamemi, Cottage Carmen offred us spacy and comfortable living, good privacy and security. The owner/host was caring and having grown up in Marzamemi, could provide us with lots of information. The taste the fruits came from his garden was a extra highlight.

I recommend Cottge Carmen for anyone looking for a holiday home south of Noto.

An excellent place to stay; highly recommended A++

We absolutely loved Cottage Carmen and wished we had been able to stay longer. Orlando the owner is an excellent host. He speaks very good English, which helped us out a lot. We had a car accident on the day we were due to arrive at the cottage, and Orlando was absolutely amazing at helping us sort it out as we were without a car for a few days and both very shaken. He went above and beyond what we could ever have expected.

The cottage itself is charming, and really feels like home. We were amazed at how cool the place stayed all day, even when it was 28 degrees outside. The bathroom was clean, with towels and a hairdryer provided. The kitchen was well equipped and Orlando provided us with lots of lovely breakfast items, coffee and bottled water on arrival, along with a giant bowl of tomatoes he had grown himself (they were absolutely delicious!) The bedroom was comfortable and cool. The living space was ample for our needs and there was a lovely seated area outside. There is parking, and it's nice and secure behind the main gate to the property. There were also bikes we could borrow.

Marzamemi is a really lovely, quiet, fishing village, and great base to explore the surrounding areas of South East Sicily. There were so many restaurants to choose from and the seafood is obviously very fresh and delicious. We had one dining experience in La Pagoda which was not amazing. There is a beautiful square in the old town; lovely for an evening passeggiata! The village is near the Vendicari nature reserve, the southern most point of Sicily and the Cavagrande del Cassibile, all well worth a visit.

All in all a lovely few days were had here. We have many more corners of the world to explore on our holidays, so alas we might never make it back to Marzamemi, but if the other cottages we stay in are as lovely as this and the owners as friendly and helpful, then we'll have been blessed. Thank you so much for opening your home up to us Orlando. We would highly recommend Cottage Carmen!
