Separate WC's1
Space 1,420 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

Rustic 3+ Bedroom, 1.5 Bath, pets considered, sleeps 8

Tucked in among the large boulders and mature trees, this secluded property is only a 5 minute walk to its deeded access on West Caroga Lake with dock and designated boat slip (up to 21') and abuts over 60,000 undeveloped acres of state land known as the Ferris Lake Wild Forest Preserve. The preserve offers endless miles of trails that wind through some of the most beautiful terrain imaginable.

Completed in early 2013, StoneHaven was custom designed and built by it's owners to incorporate the luxury of modern and efficient technology into a rustic package. This concept allows visitors to experience the more premium comforts of a home while the décor and setting provide a true Adirondack “camp” experience.

An open floor plan allows an opportunity to engage in conversation, entertain and keep an eye on children all from any vantage point on the first floor. Complement your meals in the dining area with a gaze out the large picture window which affords an uninterrupted view of nature at its finest. Be sure to appreciate the old world craftsmanship of the custom made kitchen cabinetry built in primitive design and utilizing traditional construction methods. Also take note that the walls and ceiling on the first floor as well as most of the trim throughout the house are comprised of knotty pine that was reclaimed and milled locally from the trees that were harvested from the property prior to construction.

Don’t be too surprised to find your morning coffee or evening drink interrupted by a visit from one or more members of our local wildlife community which may include: fox, deer, turkey, chipmunk, possum, rabbit, fisher, mink, raccoon, black bear, bobcat, and many others.

From our family to yours...We sincerely hope that you enjoy your visit here at StoneHaven! Please- relax, unwind and be happy!

About Trent Atkinson

Trent and Patty Atkinson purchased a vacation home in Caroga Lake in the summer of 2007 which would come to be lovingly referred to as 'CrookedWood'. In 2010, they received confirmation that Patty was pregnant with their first child. Although they simply adored their little slice of Adirondack heaven, Trent had determined that the costs associated with renovating CrookedWood to make it 'kid compliant' were not feasible. Coincidentally, at that exact same time their neighbor had made an offer to sell a portion of his property located directly adjacent to them. And thus the idea of 'StoneHaven' was born. CrookedWood was subsequently sold to family friends and Trent began the design and construction of a new slightly larger, more kid friendly, and much more energy-efficient home. Every aspect of the home was carefully planned out in order to maximize use while minimizing size. Also, consideration of environmental impact, both short-term and long-term, had a major influence on every detail of the design. On January 1 of 2013 they officially proclaimed 'construction complete'. StoneHaven is now the second home of the Atkinson Family...Trent, Patty, Harper, Hudson and their yellow labrador Murphy.

Beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at StoneHaven Cottage. The house is beautiful, cozy and provides you with everything you need for a comfortable trip! We had gorgeous fall weather for our weekend stay and had a great (albeit exhausting) time hiking Kane Mountain and taking in the fall foliage from the top of the fire tower. We enjoyed campfires in the evenings and took nightly walks around Caroga Lake as the sun set. Trent and Patty were fantastic ever step of the way, and we are so grateful they let us stay in their wonderful cottage!

Unique Pet Friendly Camp Everyone Loves

  • 5 of 5

My wife, myself, daughter and 2 labradors stayed at Stonehaven for 3 nights and wish it was for 3 months. The place is beautiful...set in a quiet and peaceful location. Originally from the Mohawk Valley I am very familiar with the area having spent many summers at both East and West Caroga. We were back in the area for a wedding at Pine Lake Park. I didn't think it was going to be possible to find a camp to rent that would be pet friendly. I was extremely surprised to find a place for one, then to find such a well kept place that excepts pets was amazing. Patty and Trent have done a wonderful job with decorating the camp with a cabin motif.

I am already looking forward for another visit and DREAMING of having a place like this of my own in the future.

We were able to utilize the just about everything (netflix, woodstove, side porch, grill, fire pit, etc).

You will not go wrong with renting this place!!!

Beautiful cottage in the woods.

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a quiet vacation in the Adirondacks and this was the perfect place. The house was clean, comfortable and well-equipped with whatever we needed. There were three bedrooms and we comfortably fit five adults. We enjoyed renting kayaks and a pontoon boat at the Marina on Caroga Lake, and hiking nearby. The general store is delightful, but there is not much else close by. So if you are looking for a quiet spot for outdoor activity, this is it.

Fantastic Family Friendly Retreat in the Quiet Woods

  • 5 of 5

Stonehaven Cottage was an ideal retreat for our multi-generational family. My 93 year old grandmother and my twelve year old son were equally at home in this cozy home. Everything necessary is provided and the owners have a true intent to make your stay amazing! Trent truly went above and beyond to make certain we all had a wonderful time. They have put so much love and care into this home, and it really shows.

Absolutely Amazing!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Wow!!!!! An absolutely amazing weekend at StoneHaven. The pictures do not do it justice!! Absolutely beautiful. Spacious, 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms. We got the bunk bed room (two adults) and it was so cozy and we had the best nights sleep! The yard was big, two fire places, a grill and a patio with lots of wood provided, which allowed us to have a fire all day long. We loved the picture window, and loved looking out at the fire while eating dinner. It was amazing how much was provided in the kitchen. Kureig, toaster oven, drawers filled with utensils, pots and pans, spices, etc. It felt like home away from home. Very comfortable and cozy!! A nice tv with a Netflix account already set up to it. I highly highly recommend booking a stay at StoneHaven, and don't forget to sign the log on the wall so you can always remember the fun you had here!!!! Already planning on renting it again in a few months!!!!!! Book it...you will NOT regret it! The owners were also very very very easy and nice to deal with. Trent answered my messages within 2 minutes every time I needed to reach out to him prior to our stay. Thank you Trent and family for allowing us to stay at your place!!!!! One word sums this weekend up: AMAZING
