About Rhea Pigott
Although Sally, the owner has a Scottish background, she was born in Antigua in the late 50's, "I've lived and travelled to many places during my younger years but Antigua has always remained my home and base. I enjoy building cottages typical of Caribbean design & have spent many years perfecting my own island style. The Beach House has been featured in many magazines & TV adverts due to it's eclectic mix of color, design, comfort & unique positioning on one of Antigua's 365 beaches. I hope you will view our photos and book your next holiday at The Beach House for your own slice of heaven."
Why Rhea Pigott chose Johnson's Point
The Beach House, a fully contained cottage on it's own beach is located in Johnson's Point village. The village shop is less than 5 minutes away & the capital City St. John's is only 20 minutes from the cottage. Ideal for BBQ's on the beach, snorkeling and even hiking are a few of the many benefits of staying at The Beach House.

perfect, hidden oasis
If the big resorts and crowded beaches aren't your thing, and you can handle a little "glamor camping", The Beach House is PERFECT! In 7 days, we only saw 2 other people on "our" beach. The house is small but who needs a big house when the outdoors is so gorgeous!?! Super close to sandy beaches like Turner's, Darkwood, Ffryes. The sand flies at dawn and dusk are no joke, tho - be prepared with bug repellent! We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return!
Private and charming! You'll fall in love!
My husband and I had an incredible time at the beach house - it is private, quiet, away from all the resorts - you will feel like you're all alone on the most beautiful island. We fell in love!
Rhea is a wonderful host - very responsive and she made our arrival easy by meeting us at the supermarket and we followed her to the house in our rental car. She showed us around and greeted us with a bottle of wine - such a warm welcome!
The house is so charming - the pictures don't do it justice. The kitchen is bright and airy and has everything you need if you choose to cook. We ate at the house every day, regardless of whether we cooked or if we picked up street food and brought it back to the house to enjoy. You can't beat eating on the deck with the ocean at your doorstep!
The bed was very comfortable - I was worried about sleeping in the heat, but the winds really pick up at night and keep the house nice and cool! We didn't use the fan once. The noises at night (ocean/animals/wind) take a bit of getting used to, but we loved it (and my husband is a very light sleeper). We would wake up to the birds chirping and start our day early.
I loved the outdoor shower!
The location is perfect - you can literally go on an adventure to anywhere on the island in a short amount of time. It is closest to some of our favourite beaches - you can walk to Turner's beach or you're a quick drive to Ffrye's or Jolly Beach - all 3 were incredible (my husband wasn't a beach guy and is now officially a convert!).
Be sure to eat at the local joints - our favourites included Cavell's cook shop (across from Jackie O's) or Gina's cook shop (across from the school in Urlings on Old Road).
Although the house is very private and secluded, if you need anything or have any questions, Rhea is easily accessible.
We wanted to do a private boat ride during our stay, so Rhea connected us to her friend Irim - I would highly recommend doing this! He gave us a 3 hour ride in his speedboat and gave us a tour of the coast from the beach house all the way to Dickenson Bay and back. We stopped at a private beach for a swim; he also gave us the option to snorkel at the reef or at a shipwreck. It was very affordable and such a pleasant way to spend a half a day on the water.
The sandflies and mosquitos are a nuisance, but I was prepared with antihistamines and bug repellent and it did not ruin our stay. I'd recommend using scent free products to help deter them.
I loved our stay!
This little beach cabin is a real gem for those looking for peace, solitude and a heavenly beach at the end of your garden. It is tucked away on a lovely stretch of coral and sand beach, but close to Jolly Harbour for shopping and the odd cafe coffee. The cabin is really simple, but it works - loved the open air shower, once the querks of the hot water system had been mastered! The kitchen has everything you need and more and is very practical for outside living, e.g. pretty Kath Kidson tin crockery, plastic glasses you can wander down onto the beach with and not worry about breaking - and good pans, griddles etc. The inside of the one spacious room has been cleverly designed with hanging space and shelves for clothes, although all you really need for a short stay are swimming costumes and something to wear for sight-seeing! Shells and driftwood form a large part of the decorative elements both inside and out and they, along with the colourful paint, give this cabin and outside living area a very Caribbean beach feel that you will remember for a long time! In fact, you will probably want to return! Rhea is a very welcoming hostess and is contactable via a phone which is left for guests' use.
The only thing that was a bit of a downer on the week was nothing Rhea could help with, apart from letting us make use of her delightful homemade lotion - to deter the 'no see 'ums'! As we live on the west coast of Scotland and the midgies up there can really force you to stay inside on the rare calm summer evenings, we had been looking forward to midge-free mornings and evenings! However - if you sit in a warm breeze on the beach, you can escape them. We only had a week at the cabin unfortunately, but hope that it will be possible to return one day and stay for longer - paradise indeed!
Had 5 nights at the Beach House and should of stayed for more!
If you are looking for isolation, a beach/sea to yourselves this is just so idyllic.
Rhea met us at the Beach House to explain everything, we had a car hired (probably ideal for this place) so had stocked up on provisions, and then that is it, you just chill and enjoy the view.......
Rhea was wonderful and on hand if required, the facilities are basic, but that is what we loved, a sort of back to nature with a few mod-cons (Wifi was very good!)
Would we come back, almost certainly................
We had a great time!
Beach house wedding
Our stay at the beach house from 30/04/18-10/05/18 was absolutely perfect. It was everything we hoped it would be and more. You really do feel like you are on your own desert island. We also got married at the beach house which was truly amazing. We couldn’t of hoped for a more perfect day and vacation.
Many thanks to Rhea for being so helpful and for meeting us at the airport and showing us the way to the beach house via the supermarket.
A truly amazing place and Rhea a truly lovely person.
We will definitely return for wedding anniversaries. X
