Vacation Rentals New Orleans French Quarter

Experience Life at Maritime by Stay Alfred |

Built in 1893, The Maritime building was recently fully renovated and converted into upscale residences. As the first skyscraper in New Orleans, the building is now on the National Register of Historic Places. During the renovation, traditional elements were preserved, giving this property both old and new charm. |

Your condo features an open concept floorplan with large windows which make the space feel open and airy. The light, coffee colored bamboo floors, from the living room to the bedroom, glisten in the windows' light. The kitchen is stunning, with dark wood cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops. It is sure to make meal prep a treat. |

This two bedroom, two bath condo offers a king size bed, queen size bed, and queen size pull-out sofa sleeper to comfortably accommodate up to six people. Huge, sliding bamboo walls divide each bedroom from the living room. The master suite features a private bathroom. And the second full bathroom guarantees nobody's sleep or privacy will be disturbed. |

There is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy all the creature comforts of home. You'll even have a washer and dryer at your disposal. Plenty of amenities are available throughout the building as well. The fitness center features a “sky view” ceiling and sauna and steam rooms. To cool off, take a dip in the rooftop pool. |

Exploring the city couldn't be easier from the Maritime's central New Orleans location. You are just a block from Canal Street and all the dining, shopping, and nightlife it has to offer. If you need more family friendly attractions, just hop on the trolley and head to the Canal Street Station. There you'll find the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas which also has an IMAX theater. No matter what you are looking for, the Maritime puts you close to it all. |

Let Stay Alfred host your next trip to New Orleans. |

Sure wish the condo looked like these pictures!!

I have been using VRBO for years and this is the first time I have truly been disappointed. The condo was DIRTY! They did the basics of cleaning the tub, toilets, sinks and linens (thank goodness) but everything else was dirty. The rug in the bedroom hadn't been vacuumed, there was dust on the furniture, tons of dust on the ceiling fans and the fan in the bathroom, and the drawers in the bathrooms hadn't been wiped out and still had residue from whatever had been in there previously. The walls looks as if they haven't seen a coat of paint (or a cleaning rag) for years and there was dust on the baseboards and door jambs. There was ketchup or something splattered on the walls in the kitchen and who knows what on the walls in the bathrooms. All the other walls were beat up and dirty.

We had also made reservations for 5 people and had planned on using the pull-out couch in the living room but it was basically bedsprings with a piece of material over them - no foam or cushioning at all. There were no pillows or blanket for the pull-out (and I had specifically called before we came down to make sure they would be available) and there were only 4 towels for all of us. It took phone calls on two separate days and about 28 hours to get additional towels.

So disappointing since there was a group of us down to celebrate a 50th birthday. For the money we paid I would have expected something more well taken care of.

Unit not as pictured, total bait and switch

  • 1 of 5

We have stayed in the Maritime building before and it is wonderful. The staff is very accommodating and welcoming.

However, I feel very mislead and fooled by Stay Alfred. They showed photos of a great apartment, but when we arrived it was not as pictured. The photos show big bay windows w lots of light- we faced a building. It always felt like it was nighttime, even in the afternoon as no light came through. The photos show large bedrooms- in this unit you could barely move around the bed. We needed to use a crib for our 2 year old, and it had to literally squeeze into our room. The set up was strange- the master had the queen bed and bathroom and the guest room had the king. Very inconvenient. The photos show a large kitchen- we could not fit two ppl in there so we could barely use it. We had scheduled a locally famous chef to cook dinner in house for our group and once I arrived I realized we could not accommodate this. We had to cancel the chef.

Besides not being the unit pictured- there were only 4 towels. With a washer/dryer that takes 5 hours, that doesn't work. There was also not enough plates/cups/glasses. We had to run the dishwasher every night. The shower was also awful- no hot water and no pressure. The trash goes out in the middle of the night and is loud AF for at least 30 minutes.

I have nothing good to say about the unit where we stayed. I feel like there was a bait and switch. I wish I would have read the other reviews, they all sound very similar.

That's a bummer be I have stayed in this building before and it was a wonderful experience. Maybe Stay Alfred is the problem.

Overall average

One of the reasons we selected this property was the rooftop pool option. Upon arrival we went up to the 11th floor to check it out.....only to find a very dirty pool with "things" swimming in it....did not look like it had been cared for in a few days. Very disappointing. I spoke to the front desk person, as well as, emailed and spoke to S.A. about this concern..but the pool was in the same condition the whole week. We had our infant Grandson with us and wanted to use this with him.

When we got to the room we had 3 lightbulbs burnt out. The staff was able to change one, but the other two were "on order". These were replaced the day before we left. One was over the island in the kitchen and the other over the sink in the bathroom. Not very convenient the whole week.

We requested to be on a "higher floor" and Perry told us we should be able to get on the 7th floor. We ended up on the 3rd floor. The garbage is taken care of everyday at about 3:30am and is VERY LOUD for about 20 - 25 minutes.

The washer and dryer provided in the room was not working properly the entire week. The dryer would go for more than 2 hours and the cloths would not be dry. We contacted S.A. and they said someone would be in to look at.....no one came....

The water temperature in the shower is very inconsistent.....hot one second....cold the other...

On the positive side....the place is in a great location if you are wanting to be close to the French Quarter! Easy to get around and can be anywhere in the quarter quickly. The front desk guys are great! Very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. We loved that the property had a play pen provided.....the beds were very comfortable and slept well. We had a rental car and had parking included....parking was easy in and out for the entire week.

The property was great for socializing, playing cards, and cooking. We were able to cook a couple meals during the week as well. But N.O. food is amazing!!

Comfortable, functional space, great location

  • 4 of 5

Beds were comfortable, property was as advertised, building employees and stay Alfred employees were cheerful and helpful, location was fabulous, and rooftop ammenieites were nice. We couldn't connect to wifi after day 1 though, and that was a bummer. Overall, a great stay though, and I would definitely recommend it to others.
