About Tony Balsa

I recently retired after 35 years in the fire service as a Captain. I have traveled all over the world with my wife. I love going to the ocean, it seems to call me there.

Tony Balsa purchased this house in 2010

Why Tony Balsa chose Jenner

I have been diving in this area for 35 years and I always wanted to have a home here to stay extended periods. It is so dramatic and natural without too many people. There is wonderful fishing and diving within a short walk to the end of the driveway. It is so restful to go to sleep listening to the ocean waves in the distance and feeling cool ocean air surrounding you, waking up invigorated and ready to meet the day excited to explore the areas nearby.

What makes this house unique

The home is spacious, clean, very comfortable and next to the ocean. There are many nearby sites to see like historic Fort Ross, over two hundred years old, numerous parks, beaches, wineries and excellent restaurants. Very relaxing!

Historic Fort Ross is located two miles South. Timber Cove Inn is 1/4 mile North where there is a beautiful bar area, outdoor fire pit, fine dining and music on some weekend nights. Three miles North is Ocean Cove Restaurant with very good food and nice dining view. Salt Point State Park is located five miles North where there is hiking in the redwood tree mountains for mushroom hunters or you can go down to the ocean. The town of Gualala is about 45minutes North or 35 miles. There are many boutique/art stores there and many nice restaurants available. At night you can hear the waves crashing against the cliffs from the decks and bedrooms. There is a big hot tub and hot rock sauna with ocean views from both.It is a very dramatic, natural, romantic place to stay.

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful one-night stay in this magical location! Spectacular sunrise and sunset cliff walks.

The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. Tony was very helpful and immediately available by phone to help us with a few technical issues-- which were immediately resolved with his support. The hot tub under starlight was a bonus after an afternoon of hiking. So perfect! Thank you for sharing your cozy, and comfortable home with us!

Even better than expected

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful visit to Tony's home in Timber Cove...he was a friendly, responsive, and helpful host, and the house was even better than we'd hoped for. Five adults fit comfortably, the views were beautiful, beds were comfy, kitchen was exceptionally well-stocked, and everything was spotlessly clean. Our only hiccup was that propane for the gas grill ran out quickly, and the only nearby stores were closed by the time we realized the problem -- if we returned, I'd bring backup charcoal grilling supplies just in case, as there was also a Weber grill available.

Thanks for helping us have a great and relaxing weekend away from the city, Tony!

Property was found as reviews stated, with great views of Timber Cove!

Experience was awesome! Was a great place to celebrate my parents 66th anniversary. House is clean, with fire places providing warmth and great atmosphere on both sides of the house. Hot tub was clean, and sauna provides a warmth as you dry off. With all the shells and, rocks and beach combing finds around you feel like you are truly on the coast. both decks are wonderful. The Timber Cove Restaurant serves a fabulous meal. There is a book to share you experience, which one of our guests Ranger Bruce did daily. Tony is a great host. There is a bit of an lighting issue on the one side of the house with the King Bed, the dimming switch on the opposite of the enterance is very sensitive and need to play with to get it to work. Other than that, perfect.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review. I will have an electrician look at the dimmer switch. It is the first I have heard of a problem with it. Please come back and stay another time in the future. Sincerely, Tony Balsa

Comfortable and well maintained

  • 4 of 5

This house was a great addition to our road trip. The theory was we'd arrive in the afternoon, have happy hour on the deck to watch the sun set, then a family crab-feed dinner. While the deck was too breezy, the living room windows gave us a beautiful view of the setting sun. All our other plans went off without a hitch!

Well stocked kitchen in the main area, that island was nicely spaced for two or three in the kitchen at the same time. We found the cards and games in the other side of the house. What a nice set up for traveling with extended family.

Queen mattresses were average quality, and we were grateful for the extra blankets in the closets of each room. Heaters were a nice touch too, although who doesn't sleep better in a cooler room, so we left them unused.

Our only complaint; that WiFi password! Remember to enter it before happy hour, not after.

While our visit was short, this house provided comfort, warmth and family time on our road trip. Thank you, Tony, for lending it out to us!

Stunning views

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Timber Cove was short and sweet. The surrounding area is magnificent. Make sure you arrive in time to enjoy the sunset. It is a bit difficult to find the home, so you don’t want to be searching for it in the dark. The house is very comfortable and split into two halves, complete with separate bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens. Walk outside at night and make sure to look up at the sky. The stars are unbelievable ! Finally, we enjoyed our visit with kids to Fort Ross next door. Lots of space to run and explore the old Russian fort just above the ocean. The beach below had kayakers recently returned with fish for their evening dinner. It was a wonderland for our city kids to take in. Thank you, Tony!

This is a beautiful sparsely populated area with dramatic natural landscapes and crisp clean air to breath. The area is world reknown for the Abalone caught there and mushroom hunting in the fall. Fort Ross is a must-see as it was the only Russian settlement within the future United Staes/California boundary established in 1812. There are many festivals there throughout the year.
