Bellavista, Santiago's favorite gastronomic area, is just blocks away. Across the river, delight your senses in the Mercado Central (Central Market, circa 1872) and its spectacular offering of fresh seafood cooked and served in the many restaurants under its majestic wrought iron art nouveau canopy; in 2012, the Central Market in Santiago, Chile, was named the No. 5 top food market in the world by National Geographic. Three blocks from the condo, and to complete full circle your food senses, do not miss The Vega Central, a huge fresh fruit and vegetable market, where you will also find cheeses, cured meats, butcher shops, and small, modest eateries, that without a doubt will be an adventure in itself to try.

The Living Room area features a 40 inch LED Samsung TV, featuring channels such as BBC, CNN International, HBO, Fox Sports Premium, etc., it also has a music system with AM/FM, CD and Ipod player/charger.

Our Kitchen provides a complete service for 6, including white china, coffee mugs, soup bowls, and glasses. Also provided: baking ware, complete set of Teflon(™) pots and pans, along with stainless steel sauce/frying pans. In addition, serving dishes and serving bowls in different sizes along with a complete set of kitchen tools including Chef’s knives.

We strive to provide the basic necessities after a long and exhausting trip. Ground and instant coffee are available, and a big assortment of black and herbal teas. Sugar, sweeteners, and creamer. In addition, you will find bottled water in the refrigerator.

Also provided salt, pepper, (fresh ground and regular), all basic spices (garlic, onion powder, oregano, rosemary) ExtraVirgin olive oil and canola oil. Appliances: Electric Coffee maker , blender, electric chopper. electric hand mixer, toaster oven, microwave oven, and an electric toaster.

The Main Bedroom consists of a queen size bed, two night tables, a dresser and a 32 inch LED Samsung TV. There are extra pillows and blankets in the closet.

The oil paintings in the bedroom were commissioned in October 2012 and they depict Parque Forestal below. There is also a shopping cart in case you venture out to the huge produce/cheese/meat market around the corner and 3 blocks down the street (La Vega ), and a portable vertical steamer. The main bathroom, is a full bath complete with a bathtub. We provide a hair dryer, electric curling iron, and a flat iron.

The second bedroom features a full size bed, and two night tables. The closet contains extra pillows/blankets, a steam iron, a table top ironing board, and a vacuum cleaner.

It is also a complete bathroom, with a bathtub (smaller than the Master’s bedroom). There is also a scale.

Sweeping views of Andes, the river and the park. Unobstructed views of San Cristóbal Hill, and at night the Virgin Mary shines on its summit. Just stunning!. At night the views are magical, the busy city seems to pause under your balcony.

The wicker furniture in the balcony is from a small town south of Santiago, Pomaire, known by its clay modeling artisans. They clay plates on the walls, also come from Pomaire and the artist that painted them has been doing that for the last 20 years.

Beautiful apartment in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Ana Luisa for allowing us to stay in your apartment. The place was perfect for the 3 of us. The place accomodated our needs. The bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen provided all the necessities for our needs. Great location where we were able to walk to areas nearby. Thank you for providing a pamphlet of recommended areas to visit, and how to get around. The only downside was the smoking of the neighbors on the floor would drift into the apartment. We placed a towel under the doorand that helped. Outside of that i still give a 5 star rating.

Great location, extremely helpful owner and good value!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the apartment and Santiago. The information packet was quite helpful and the restaurant recommendations were spot on. The kitchen was well stocked and the grocery was just a short walk away. Bedroom 2 was a bit tight because we had a great deal of luggage for our 25 day trip. (Totally perfect for a family with 2 kids and was still okay for us.) The central location was perfect and the park right across the street was great for morning runs. The Concierge was very helpful. We would gladly stay here again.

Location, location,location

This property is perfectly located for exploring on foot the multiple diverse sections of Santiago. The apartment is on the small side, but sufficient for two couples. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Ana-Luisa was prompt in replying to all questions and provided detailed information on the city. Property manager Omar met us early morning at the property and could not have been more helpful during our stay!

Overall very disappointing

  • 2 of 5

We have used VRBO many times in many countries and sadly this was our worst experience. After the initial confirmation, contact with the owner was very aggravating. It took numerous e-mails and even phone calls to confirm changes and to make sure the arrival date was accurate. It took eleven days one time and nine days the second time to receive a response. We even accepted the offer made by the owner to arrange a taxi at the airport and never heard back until it was too late.

To be frank, the apartment is very dirty. The toilet seat in the second bathroom was broken, and overall the bathroom had stains on the door and the floors were dirty. In the kitchen there was a lot of caked on dirt on the garbage can, washing machine, and dish rack. Some of the appliances had dirt and what appeared to be food on them. The coffee pot was filthy, and the grounds had not been emptied so that there was mold growing on the grounds. The walls in second bedroom had some type of substance which looked to be of human origin. Overall it was very dusty, especially the porch where the placemats were kept. When we cleaned them with a damp paper towel the dirt was enough to blot. It did not look like the floor had been washed in some time.

Unlike the personal greetings other people mention in the reviews, we never heard from Omar the property manager until we noted the condition of the apartment when verifying checkout procedure. However, he had no time to meet with us other than on our last evening or early in the morning of our departure. Finally, even little things like having the transit cards charged were neglected. One of the cards only had enough for two subway rides causing an alarm to go off at the station when we tried to use it a third time.

Overall, just would recommend a different apartment until the owner and manager take care of the problems with this one.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your candid and detailed review of your experience at The Riverview. I want you to know that I am extremely upset and plainly embarrassed by the conditions you described. Unfortunately, you and I were both victims of an unusual confluence of events: my normally reliable and thorough cleaning crew was not available to prepare the apartment before your stay and I had to hire a temporary crew. My manager, Omar, was out of town and did not do his usual inspection before your arrival. And I myself was traveling during the time of our correspondence and not able to reply in a timely fashion, as is my normal practice. I am not longer working with interim cleaning crew as they have proved to be completely inefficient; regarding the dust/dirt in the balcony, please keep in mind that Santiago is one of the most polluted cities in the planet and dust and smog filters through even closed windows, that is something all Santiago residents have to encounter in a daily basis. Your experience was unfortunately unique in the six years of offering The Riverview, as you can see from all the great reviews posted by previous guests. I understand that does not change what you described, but I hope you can at least appreciate that your case was an anomaly. I hope that you will accept my sincere apologies for the experience you described and, if you find yourself once again in Santiago, I would like to offer you a complementary night’s stay so that you can see what a great experience it can and should be. Best Personal Regards, Ana-Luisa Kennedy

Comfortable, interesting, perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this property was good from the start. From the Santiago info sent to us when we booked to the courteous check-in when we arrived to the very comfortable accommodation provided. We loved that it was very close to the markets (5th best in the WORLD), and the excellent metro, and the Belles Artes neighborhood. Inside, everything worked and was well supplied. We enjoyed a cold bottle of wine provided on arrival and as requested - left one for you (or the next people in!!
