About Gregory Mumma
We live in Lubbock, TX and started coming to Ruidoso about 25 years ago for the skiing! We liked Ruidoso so much we bought the cabin 19 years ago. I worked weekends for the Ski Apache Ski School for a number of years then focused on teaching my kids to ski. My kids were on Ruidoso Sierra Blanca Ski Team for three years then on the Santa Fe Ski Team. This year we are enjoying Ski Apache and just free skiing, but the Cabin is available for rental during Spring Break. We'd like to share our love of the mountains and the slopes with you!
Gregory Mumma purchased this Cabin in 2000
What makes this Cabin unique
The Sierra Vista Heights cabin is perfect for one or two couples or a small family. On a cul-de-sac and bordering on the Lincoln National Forest, it feels like you're away from it all, but you're only a short ride to the charming shops in the village of Ruidoso. The view from the deck includes Sierra Blanca, the top of Ski Apache's Apache Bowl, and surrounding peaks.

The view and cooler temps (after a Texas summer) were perfect!
We came for 1) the view, 2) the cool temperatures, 3) the hiking, & 4) family time to cap off summer and really prepare us as the kids start school.. We saw bear tracks hiking and a deer our last morning! It’s an older cabin showing it’s age but there is a fully stocked kitchen & BBQ grill if you decide to eat in.
Fantastic deck and view of the mountains!!
Cabin could use some updates
We really enjoyed our stay. The deck views were fabulous!
The cabin was clean and comfortable. We liked the convenience of a kitchen.
Million Dollar View
The view was spectacular! We had our morning coffee out on the deck every morning. After lunch on most days, we watched a rain cloud approaching from over the mountain, and then the rain! We are fairly healthy seniors ,but the added elevation above the village was somewhat of a problem. It was difficult unloading and reloading the the car. The cabin itself was adequate. The entire experience was well worth the trip.
Million dollar view from the back deck!
The view from the back deck is incredible and it's in a very peaceful, quiet area of a neighborhood. The location is only 2-3 minutes from a grocery store, and only 4-5 minutes from the great restaurants in the best parts of Ruidoso. I think it was a good value for the amount charged, and the owner was responsive, helpful, and kind.
There were numerous deer around the property, and we even had the thrill of seeing a small black bear roaming in the forest behind the cabin! That was really cool.
Glad you and your family enjoyed the visit and the Cabin. We look forward to your coming back soon! Greg
Upon arrival, wet towels hanging in one bath. Hot shower handle fell off. No iron. fell off
Owner very nice and agreeable. Views fantastic. Everything else was disappointing. TV had wavy lines. Felt like just what it was- an older double wide mobile home.
Well, this is a surprise. When I checked in with this person via email on the evening she arrived she responded "everything is fine". Although clearly knowing how to contact me, no efforts were made to contact me about these issues, all of which could have been readily corrected and were not mentioned by subsequent guests. This review is factually inaccurate -- the cabin is not a doublewide, it consists of a quaint mobile home with hardwood ceilings and lots of built ins plus a large master BR and living room built on site at the top of this ridge. Please read the description of the Cabin before booking!
Climb over a fence five feet from the edge of the Cabin and your in the Lincoln National Forest! Mountain biking on ranger trail and other locations near Sierra Blanca.
