Born and raised in Berks County.
Met on a blind date. Married 42 years and have 5 children and 4 grandchildren.
We love spending time with the family, traveling, and meeting new people.
Though we've traveled through the US and abroad, we always love coming home.
Home is where our heart is!
Ron & Nancy Boyer purchased this chateau / country house in 2001
My fondest childhood memories were spending weekends and school vacations with my grandparents here at the Loos Homestead. It's a wonderful place for children to explore and grownups to relax. August 2015 marked the 250th anniversary of the homestead,
The homestead still has the original hardwood floors and hand cut beams, molding, deep 18 inch windowsills and pegs on the wall where ancestors hung their clothes. Lot's of love and care have gone into refurbishing the homestead without compromising it's integrity. A beautiful view may be experienced from any window. Wildlife, such as deer, fox, and eagles can be seen on any given day. We love to sit on the porch with a cup of coffee and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Beautiful..great old home. Such a great feel for history ...we truly enjoyed our stay. Owners were very accomodating and their home shows pride of ownership.
The historic house was lovely and very comfortable. The grounds have a pond with a boat and fishing gear. The kids were begging to go back as soon as we left. The hosts areso thoughtful - fresh strawberry bread in the fridge!
We arrived in the late evening and our hostess was very gracious in providing all the info for our overnight stay. Although a historic property, it was entirely updated inside. Our family was quite comfortable in this home as it offered the privacy that we were looking for while traveling with our young adult daughters. The abundant breakfast items were an added bonus that we do not usually experience in home rentals. Although we arrived late and checked out early, we were able to see that the outside property was amazing with a porch, pond, and playground--only wish we could have stayed long enough to enjoy them.
We really enjoyed the stay. House is very well maintaned, cozy and comfortable. Nancy and Ron are very helpful and pleasant. Will definitly stay again in this place, if we will be in the area.
This was our 2nd stay at the Loos Homestead. We again found Ron and Nancy to be enthusiastic, gracious hosts. Their personal touches on our pending arrival were very thoughtful and much appreciated. The location of the homestead is just perfect for being as busy, or not busy as you want to be. The peace and quiet make you feel far away from everything yet you are less than an hour (in almost every direction) from some of the best things Pennsylvania has to offer. You feel immediately cozy and safe in your surroundings due to Ron and Nancy's attention to details around the property and the secluded location. We visited JIm Thorpe, Reading, Lancaster and Allentown with ease and spent a great deal of time on the gorgeous back roads around Hamburg. Our list of 'Must-Dos' would include; Bicycling on the Bartram Trail, the Lehigh Gorge Railway in Jim Thorpe, The 'Escape Room' and Rachel's Creperie in Lancaster and the lunch counter at Hamburgs Drug Store. My only regret leaving the Homestead is staying too busy to just sit and enjoy the calm surroundings. If you can't relax on an early evening, just listening to nature and watching the frogs in the pond, you probably never will!
We love everything about the Homestead and the surrounding area. We will return again next year!
We enjoyed an overnight stay in this beautiful and quant home full of history. The home is seperated, so we had a private entrance, living space, kithen, bedrooms and bathroom. Home offered modern ammenities with air conditioning that kept up with the heat wave, nicely done kitchen and bath. The breakfast included was a beautiful touch with farm fresh eggs, fruit, orange juice, milk etc all stocked in the fridge! A very lovely place. Would highly recommend.
