We rented Sean's oceanview condo in St. Thomas for 4 nights. The moment we entered we were awestruck with the view from patio. The blue waters constantly sweep the shore and we spent our evenings just sitting at the patio (Remember to carry bug repellent as the island is full of mosquitoes).
The condo is perfect for a couple but can also accommodate upto 4 people with a futon. The room was clean and very well decorated. There is also a full kitchen stocked up with all utensils you would need if you wanted to cook. Sean was very helpful and provided us with a custom map marked with all local spots that are worth exploring.
Also the location of this condo was great as it is near the east end (red hook) of the islands with some of the best restaurants and a ferry dock to St. John. It is located on a safe secluded private property close to Ritz Carlton and we were lucky to even spot some deer. Almost all the cab drivers knew where this place was so we had no trouble finding it.
The location was wonderful and the mosquitoes were manageable on the terrace but the unit was filthy when we arrived (dirty floors, stains on furniture, dirty dishes). We considered checking into a hotel but being that the rental fee was non-refundable we bought cleaning supplies and gave the place a once over instead. Also, we purchased our own towels to use because the ones provided were very smelly. We wore flip-flops in the shower because even a good cleaning did not help its appearance. Overall it was very disappointing as we had been looking forward to our stay for several months. I gave two stars for the rating only because the location of the condo was beach front.
The area was very nice and quiet. The home provided all thing shown and was very comfortable. Beautiful attractions near and water with in walking distance. Overall amazing place! Would recommend.
I was very comfortable. It was quiet. Just the way we like it.
1st off, St Thomas is the best and I think staying in the East End was the best decision we could have made. From the nightlife to the lazy days, this was an experience I'll never forget. The condo was perfect for 2. (I can imagine it a little tight for 4 but to each his own.) In the unit was everything we really needed, i.e. snorkel gear, sunscreen, bug spray (pretty important on the island), even butter for our toast in the morning. There are at least 2 beautiful resorts that welcomed us with open arms in walking distance that if you really wanted there's no need to go much further but a quick cab ride will take you anywhere. To RedHook or the SkyRide at Paradise Point or to one of the 7 beaches I'll never forget in our 6 day stay and don't forget St. Johns Ferry!! One Last thing about our stay. The residents on the property were so nice and funny and helpful. That impacted our stay in a huge way. I loved Cabrita Point! :)
We stayed at the condo for a short trip on St Thomas as part of a longer trip in the Islands.
Wonderful view. We enjoyed seeing all the different islands visible from the patio and watching the sailboats and ferries come and go. Good bug spray and the Tiki torch candle keep the mosquitoes away.
Rather quiet area and living space. We weren't disturbed by noise from neighbors, traffic, etc while sleeping.
Well stocked kitchen/bathroom. We travel often and have stayed in many vacation rentals where housekeepers or owners clean out EVERYTHING from the kitchen and bathroom and leave the next guests with the need to buy it all from spices and condiments to soap and paper goods. We really appreciate having the necessities and some of the commonly used items available in a rental unit and a leftover couple beers from previous guests is a small gesture for the owners but feels like a jackpot to newly arriving guests.
Nice location on the island. We enjoyed being close enough to Red Hook to zip over for a meal or drinks, but far enough away that the late night revelry and music isn't audible while trying to sleep! It was easy to get to several different beaches and sightseeing spots with our rental car from the condo.
We found the condo nicely decorated and there was some recent remodeling/updating apparent in the unit.
Stale cigarette smoke deeply embedded in the condo. Someone has frequently in past or currently does smoke in the unit. Seems like the next door neighbor...always home...also smokes.
Condos are older. Grounds surrounding the units have abandoned tennis courts and some old buildings/areas that likely used to be nice shared common space, but are now eye sores.
We had become accustomed to open (screened) windows, the wonderful sea breeze and the tropical climate on our trip up to that point as many island homes are not air conditioned. You don't have the option for windows open here. They are sealed shut, likely so the AC is more efficient. We wished we had the option to not use the AC and have screened windows open. The AC unit is rather loud, but without windows open it is necessary to be comfortable enough to sleep.
Would have been nice to have guest instructions in the condo like if the tap water is potable (rain collected cistern water is not always treated or safe to drink in the VI), where to take garbage so the roaches don't try to move in and details about the AC operation. We figured all this out, but....
When we walked into the condo we were immediately blown away. I would never stay at another hotel again while on vacation. This will become a new tradition for me and my wife.
