About Jason

This limestone home has been carefully taken care of since it was built in 1910. The neighborhood of Stuyvesant Heights is home to many families including my own. We enjoy the neighborhood feel, the magnificent New York architecture, the independent coffee shops and trendy restaurants. The A Train is less than 100 ft. from the apartment and your trip into the city will take approximately 25 minutes. Clearly, Brooklyn itself is a destination and you will be right in the center if you choose to stay at the Reading Room Suite.

We look forward to having you enjoy the neighborhood as many, many travelers from around the world do every day! Have breakfast in the Reading Room Suite or in one of the many neighborhood eateries before setting out on your day to explore all that New York has to offer.

Warmest regards, Jason

Jason purchased this apartment in 2007

Family with 5 young adults

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed for one week in Jason's apartment. There were me, my husband, young adult kids with boy/girl friends. The apartment was even for us perfect. Even though 3 of us preferred to sleep on mattress on the floor. Perfectly situated just 5 min from underground station and 30min from Manhattan. Kitchen was good enough for breakfast and evening tea. Bath room was greatly situated on the other side of apartment and washing machine was so quick and handy. The only thing I missed, was a normal grocery store in walking distance. There was a quite expensive grocery store nearby - but good enough for breakfast ingredients..

Communication with Jason was so easy. He even ordered a taxi for us. And his mom was really sweet.

Definately I recommend this for anyone, who wants a perfectly situated apartment in NYC with all amenities with reasonable cost.

Our Family had a Wonderful Eight Days

  • 5 of 5

Like all the other reviews our family had a wonderful stay. Jason was a wonderful host coming to our aid within minutes after contacting him. It was located perfectly with the subway just down the street, even the location with an elevator if you have a stroller or scooter as I did.

Not only are the washer and dryer great to have, but you benefit from having an entire room. My girls and I were able to keep our toiletries and use it as a dressing room—putting on makeup, and even brushing our teeth since there is a large sink too.

The kitchen was the perfect size for us, beds were quite comfortable and we all felt very safe when we came in at night. Wifi was perfect to keep up with work and also streaming videos at night.

The entire flat was very clean and well stocked with anything you could possibly need. Like all the other five star reviews, you won't be disappointed if you choose to stay at Jason's Reading Room.

Clean, well organized, great location, easy subway access

  • 5 of 5

In one word, WOW! This was our first family trip to NYC and we were looking for a place that was reasonably priced and out of the city. We have used VRBO/Homeaway in the past, so had no concerns about making reservation in a new city. The Reading Room is in a great location in Brooklyn. It is a 5 minute walk to the subway with an express train to the city. It was easy to find and when we arrived we were greated by Jason's mom, Elizabeth. She let us in and helped us with parking. Jason soon followed, showed us around the apartment, and gave us some tips on city travel. The Reading Room is an adorable space! It was VERY clean and well stocked with sheets, towels, and a few little things that travelers my forget. We would love to come back and stay again. We have already recommended the Reading Room to some friends, who are looking into NYC getaways! Thanks again Jason and Elizabeth for your hospitality and kindness! ~Aaron and Julie

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

I had a great stay at the reading room. Jason was a great host. It is a great and safe location. We were traveling with a toddler so location was important to us. It was a very easy trip into the city. Only thing is to be mindful that you may have cell phone reception issues. Our carrier is ATT and we had a hard time getting cell phone service. It didn't bother me much, because I wanted a break from my devices anyway. Overall great stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Darlene, I'm so glad to hear that you had a great time and that you found our neighborhood to be safe and convenient. I'm sorry to hear that you had connection issues with AT&T. That is not a complaint that we've heard in the past. There is Wi-Fi and a signal boaster in the apartment. It is possible that the boaster needed to be adjusted. We are always available and we reach out within 48 hours to see if you need anything at all. Thanks again for booking your stay with us!

We had a wonderful experience in the Reading Room! Very CLEAN! More room than picture actually show! Nice Shower, wonderful to have a full size washer and dryer - you can actually pack less, and just wash - so you have more room in your suitcase to bring home all your shopping items! The bedding was nice, as well as plenty of towels! The subway location was so very close, and easy! We didn't do much in this area, we went into Manhattan every day. Jason and his Mother were the best! Very helpful and friendly! It is an amazing deal for the price! If we travel back to NYC, we will try and stay here again! Thank you, Jason for an affordable place to stay so our children could create memories of a lifetime!!

The Reading Room in Brooklyn is amazing!!!

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I arrived at the Reading Room in Brooklyn and we were instantly impressed! Jason's Mom gave us the full tour of the property and it was just as described in the listing. It was spacious and comfy and clean and we felt right at home.

Jason and his Mom were both very helpful in answering any questions that we had and they supplied us with maps and directions to the closest restaurants and grocery stores. They also taught us which Subway station to use and which train would take us into Manhattan (A or C).

The street and neighborhood that the Reading Room is located on is just marvelous! It is a beautiful neighborhood and there were many flowers and plants and fall decorations out to make it even more beautiful. The Utica Subway station is 2 blocks away and it was an easy and safe walk to and from the Reading Room. My sister and I felt very safe walking around the neighborhood at all times of the day and night.

My sister and I stayed for 7 nights and we had a fantastic trip to NYC! We spent time in Manhattan during the day/evening and then would come back to Brooklyn at night. The Reading Room was a very relaxing place to stay and it was nice to have such a quiet space to enjoy after the long and loud days in Manhattan.

I highly recommend staying in the Reading Room - it was great for a girls trip to NYC and I think it would be perfect for families as well.
