You'll feel the quaintness and quiet of rustic remoteness, yet be just two minutes off Highway 64, and about 15 minutes from Grand Canyon National Park.

Guestbook comments from the manager

I have had so may great verbal reviews before and since the last 2, which were from the same party. I didn't feel they were fair, and I remind my guests, if you're looking for busy city bustle, it's just not in this region. This is remote, open country, lots of land and trails and back roads to enjoy and explore. Our guests get to see the natural habitat and wildlife all around them, It reminds me of the Australian outback, there will not be pavement everywhere, or sidewalks, or shopping malls, We're actually proud of that. I've been to so many now commercialized tourist areas and it has definitely killed the atmosphere and detracted from the real beauty of area. At this World Wonder I believe we have maintained that original, historical and natural experience. Folks, it's not Los Angeles.

This guest group was from Austrailia and they loved it. Here were their parting remarks.

"Trish, I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know what an amazing time we had in the Grand Canyon. None of us had been to the Park before and I must say that we were completely awe struck by the enormity of the Canyon on a very misty and evocative day, we also spent a very sunny day there and as result saw very different perspectives of the Canyon. We managed to be at the Canyon on both a sunset and sunrise and as a keen photographer I got some fantastic shots as the light changed at dusk and dawn. We also flew over it in a helicopter. We spent a day exploring the local towns visiting both Williams and Flagstaff and experienced very friendly bears up close in Bearizona!

All in all it was a terrific visit made even better by staying in your very comfortable and welcoming home. We thoroughly enjoyed the facilities, space and proximity to the Park.

Thankyou so much for allowing us to stay in the house.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights at this "away from it all" home. Everything was well stocked and comfortable; kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms. We enjoyed a campfire and smores every night listening to the nearby elk and coyotes. We were even fortunate enough to see several elk (one huge one!) on our first evening. It was a great place to come back to each evening after spending a full day at the Grand Canyon. The entrance to the south rim is only about 20 minutes away. Be sure to stock up on groceries in Williams or Flagstaff before arriving! You are away from it all up here!

Owner's Response: Thankyou for taking the time to review our Grand Canyon home. It's a beautiful area to enjoy nature and some peace and privacy. So many of our groups call to tell us how special it made their trip, but few remember to give their reviews after the long trip home, so we especially appreciate your input. For clarification, there is a quick market, restaurant, gas, pizza about 5 minutes from home and more restaurants, drive-thrus, and grocery about 10 miles north on hwy 64 at the entrance area to the National Park.

Great location (30 minutes to the Grand Canyon Visitor's Center) and alternative to a hotel stay

  • 3 of 5

We just left this morning and it was unanimous that we would stay here again. It was 30 minutes door to door to the visitor's center. The house is off the beaten path a little, but I love staying at a house, where we can group in the kitchen and living room, after a long day of hiking. Hot, hot showers, great master with double sinks and you can't beat washing your laundry before returning home.

Great place for families and very close to the Grand Canyon

  • 4 of 5

My sister's family and I stayed here for four nights. The home had plenty of room for all of us (4 adults and 4 children). Comfy beds and lots or room to relax. We loved being able to let the kids wander and explore the property as they played. On our last night we were treated to the spectacular stars that other reviews have mentioned. WOW! We also loved the spacious kitchen/dining area since we prepared and ate most of our meals there. There were plenty of plates, silverware, bath towels, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, etc. No problems with any appliances or water. There were a couple of things that we wished we had for meal prep for a large family (more medium sized mixing/serving bowls, napkins, basic spices, more dish towels, and plastic storage bags), but nothing that made a negative impact on our stay. The owner is super friendly, easy to work with, and contact. This was a great place to stay for our Grand Canyon vacation.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking time to post your review. A quick call would have resolved most of the items you were wishing for. There is a supply cupboard that would have held everything except more bowls, I'm going to address that right away and put more in there. I would love your next visit to be perfect. We also love hearing that it has made your memories uniquely special, which we do hear alot, It's brought alot of visitors great memories and closeness to each other. It is unique, and a memorable way to experience the area. Thankyou again, we'd love to have you back.

A wonderful nature refuge.

  • 5 of 5

We used the house for a winter family vacation and it served our purpose wonderfully. With 8 adults and 6 children we ended up using every room in the house and we were delighted to find everything we needed. From the perfect about of dishes, pots and pans, to extra towels, pillows and blankets. We would definitely stay here again.

Not as expected

Trish, the owner, was always very nice to us. Therefore, I wish I did not feel compelled to leave such a negative review. However, this property is dated and dirty. Just a complete disappointment.

This home has purposely rustic stout furnishings, great log beds, and Yes!! comfort! This guest group was from Austrailia and they loved it. Here were their parting remarks. Disappointed

  • 1 of 5

This property is a mix of plusses and minuses. Overall we were disappointed. This house is well located, reasonably priced, the beds and air conditioning are in good condition and the owner is easy very nice and to reach. However, this property is extremely dated, has numerous items that do not work, was not clean when we arrived and had problems that the owner was unable to get fixed in a reasonable time. We found hair in the showers. Showers, sinks, kitchen surfaces, cupboards and areas around windows were not clean. Neither shower drained properly and it took 3 days to get then fixed. Fan in one bathroom did not work and the fans in the other 2 were very noisy. One bedroom ceiling fan had no control, so it had to stay on if you wanted to use the ceiling light. One bathroom faucet knob did not work. Some windows did not have screens and some of those that did had holes. The shower curtain liners badly need replacement. Area around house was littered with debris, old furniture, etc. Front steps are rickety.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry to hear any guest had a disappointing time. This group was a little different in that the first time I checked on them, they loved it all and were thanking me for the comfortable beds and all the room they had to enjoy. Then on the 3rd day of their 4 day stay I get this complaint call. Things that were never mentioned originally and seemed like almost really hard sought. The caregivers that over see the home were called immediately and told us they would be there later that day as they were traveling from out of town, Apparently they had an emergency and had to return to the hospital for a dying family member before getting home. I checked up on their status with our guests only to find the caregivers never made it. They are so responsible I couldn't figure why and couldn't reach them. Another maintenance person was sent and quickly cleaned the shower drain and anything else that was possible to address, however it was a day after they had called. This group felt our silk plants were dated and had pulled them off ledges in the home to outside, had re-arranged our furniture, had broken a couple of items that needed repair and were pretty rough on things in general. Sometimes you will just have folks that are bound and determined to find complaints, especially if they are trying to throw an owner off from charging them for damage. There is 1 patched screen, otherwise screens are in place and fine. They fount a hair in the shower. The fan has 2 chain pulls and works fine. The faucet in the half bath had the hotwater valve closed until the plumber could come and replace the drip, which was done The house is clean and comfortable and this complaint is unfortunate.
